Can someone explain to me how the new invention system works? I would like to know what skills are needed and how it grants yoy BP's. do you still need a research agent?

You don't HAVE to have one, but it'll help.
For invention, you need to have an item called an interface; there's one for ships, one for modules, one for rigs, and so on. They're assembled from parts found in exploration sites and BPCs found in explorations sites. These used to be hideously expensive, but are falling in price now that CCP's upped the drop rate on the parts involved. Ain't cheap, though. On the other hand, it's not consumed in the invention, so you just need to own one (of that type).
You also need "datacores", which are purchased from research agents with RP. Basically, once the T2 BPO lotto is over, this is what your RP will be good for. The RP price on these is going to drop a lot in the patch this week, so wait until then, 'kay? ;p
You also need a BPC of the T1 equivalent of the item you want to invent. If you can invent a T2 BPC with it, it'll be listed under the "invention" tab (along with the necessary materials, data interface, yadda yadda.) Not sure how the quality of the BPC affects the resulting T2 BPC's quality.
Additionally, you can use a "decryptor", which is a one-shot device that affects the invention job. It can improve the chance of success, or the number of runs of the resulting BPC.
I'm not up on what skills are required, honestly. Can someone chip in?

You also need one of the "Encryption Methods" skills, which are somewhat expensive and have Hacking as a prerequisite (I think).

On tuesdays patch the drop rate of the encryption methods skills is being increased and prices for that should come down soon.

Where can you find these "decryptors" I've seen none on the market. Are they dropped at exploration sites? Is there a table of success somewhere over the 40% 20% and 10% base success rates listed in the show info tab on the cryptic devices?
