Good Afternoon,
I'm really interested in Wormhole Living, I have a good grasp on EVE but I don't want to move into a wormhole with a corp and sit spinning my ship as I have nothing to do or how to do it.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

You will not spin if you actually want to play, because there is almost always something to do in wormholes, and it may requires more initiative than playing in a big 0.0 structure, for instance.
Advice number one is to make sure you have decent scanning skills and a good scanning boat (astrometrics IV and support skills @III minimum, racial frigate 5, well skilled astero, or ideally a covert ops), number two is to find a good corporation in the relevant section of these forums. Look for active structures, which also accept newcomers and will take the time to teach them the ropes.
Good luck. |

Thankyou for the advice. I was thinking about joing a corp because at the minute im in my own one haha.
My scanning skills aint amazing so I will go away and get them up to what is required.
Im not after making mega ISK I just want to play Eve with people and not play it alone anymore.

I think a big part of living in wormhole space is learning to be self-motivated. There will be times when it's just you online and you've got to find stuff to do. Scanning skills are essential and something that everyone needs to work on when living in w-space.
Find something you can do alone (data/relic hacking, gas huffing, sleeper PVE) to fill your time when your corp mates aren't around. |

Thankyou for the comment Do you think there is a minimum SP?

I'm not really a believer in minimum SP, I think as long as you have some scanning skills and a cloak that's enough to get you started. When I first got into wormholes I was still flying a Heron. |

The mindset for minimum SP is trash.
Wormholers need to be strong individualists, often soloers almost in their ways. Being good at probing, and having a wider range of skills is also a plus. I can gas mine, have planetary colonies, salvage, solo C2 sites and of course there's all the data/relics. And you gotta keep looking over your shoulder without a reliable local chat.
I don't even believe in alts, but I do have that emergency brand new toon prober just incase I lock myself out.

I recommend actually saving your money for a Covert Ops frigate it will take you three weeks to train for it
I got lucky early on that's why I was able to get the ship I have it's not cheap
when it comes to the Low slots it's kind of overkill on my ship you do not really need 4 warp core stabilizers I did it for ***** and giggles

As most people pointed out, wh lifestyle require have a bit of initiative by yourself
Most wh corp won't accept anyone that can't earn its own isk or only spins its ship when its alone, don't be like that; if you don't know how to scan properly, practice; if you have no clue about wh life, lurk.
Also you also could start by daytripping to learn the basis by yourself, then apply to the corp that ganks you. |

Just an idea, if I was going to find a WH to do stuff in for ISK then I would get a Prospect and go into a shattered WH and in my cargo hold I would have a moble depot with mining lasers, gas, and ice lasers, armor rep, hull rep, 3 tech II cargo expander, more probes.
While living in a shattered WH offers the nice benefit that people can't anchor a pos so most of the time you will alone but having an alt in high sec where you can come to meet up and get the goods taken off your hands, then dive back in and repeat, you could make really great ISK doing this with a lot less risk then a populated WH, those are extremely dangerous because those guys live, sleep, and eat in those WH and they know every nook and cranny and will hunt you down at some point. |

Gas maybe but Ore and Ice is not practical given you need to move an ungodly amount of it to make any isk and with no POS it would be a pain.
Also most gas and Ore sites have Rats so with just a single frig you cant really do it for a long time.
Personally I would try dumpster diving. Just scan for Whs in HS until you find a C1-3 (depending on combat skills) and clear some sites. Have a Depo, Probes, Salvagers and MTUs for looting and getting out if required. Then if you want to Gas or Mine afterwards to can (clearing the sites with your combat ship) and just Haul through the HS.
This way you get experience from multiple field. Lots of scanning (in HS), PVE content, watching your back and Mining ect.

Do WHs have npc space stations not own by anyone? So ppl can dock? (this question will tell you how much I know about living in WH). I am thinking about to find myself the deepest darkest wh, hide in there and exit once a week to sell my loot... or die trying so others can sell my loot |

To be honest, drop the Ice and Ore mining lasers. Prospect isn't bonused towards Ice mining, Ore mining has very low profits compared to gas mining. The problem with shattered holes is that you can't drop your loot, which isn't a problem with blue loot or salvage, but it's quite problematic with gas as it has considerable volume. You might want to find a hole (not necessarily shattered), suck it dry (or at least until baddies spawn) and haul it back into your staging point (probably HS). I made a fortune like this, but it's time-consuming to constantly scan new sites and connections.

I don't like to lecture or be offensive, but this is pretty bad fit. It moves at 407m/s with MWD on, which is terrible for running sites. Also, if you're using warp core stabs cargo scanner pretty much sucks. You might want to drop it and use scanning array instead.
I use something like this:
Warp Core Stabilizer II Warp Core Stabilizer II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Data Analyzer II Relic Analyzer II 5MN Microwarpdrive II Scan Pinpointing Array II
Sisters Core Probe Launcher II Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Small Low Friction Nozzle Points I Small Gravity Capacitor Upgrade II
24x Sisters Core Scanner Probe 5x Hornet EC-300
In cargo hold: Mobile Depot Armor EM Hardener II Small Armor Repairer II
This moves at 5km/s with overheated MWD, has sub-2s warp time, and it's basically uncatchable except for bubble camps dedicated to kill explorers (and you have to mess up). Hardener and Repairer in cargo hold for superior sleeper caches, they allow you to run first room which is worth like 100m

I've not had any issues tackling asteros in a stealth bomber. I would murder these fits even though my bomber has literally 0 tank mods. In fact, I've always thought if someone actually did put up a fight I'd take the loss with a smile.
The problem is, while you're in the middle of a hack and a bomber decloaks right next to you you have less than a second (maybe 2?) to hit warp before it's too late.
If you're in an astero, you'll get out of some ganks w/stabs but it seems like a waste of an excellent combat frig. The align time and speed makes sense if you jump into a 'gate camp' of sorts.
But to the original question - people in wormhole space like people that want to go out and do stuff. You've scouted a wh over and want to bear? Go for it. Found someone running sites? Time to ping some ship spinners to get off their ass. |

Using SB to hunt Asteros is very tricky business. Most SB pilots avoid Asteros like plague because:
Astero can be either GTFO fitted (my fit above) or combat fitted (Usually small rep, ancillary rep, scram, cap booster and flight of light drones). It can tank up to 170 DPS while dishing ~100 dps with flight of Hobgoblins II. Bomber has zero chance to kill this, and will most likely end up dead if he tries to go for it.
Even with this combat fit, Astero can still have sub-2s warp and one Analyzer (probably Relic)
Because of this is ganking Asteros in SBs extremely risky
Oh, and if you're using GTFO fit for exploration, always orbit can at 2.5km with MWD off. This way you can hit cloak before enemy lands on grid/locks you, which gives you enough time to warp out |

Lots of excellent advice in this thread, IMO. Also tho, WH living really should involve both PVP and PVE living if you're doing it right. Sometimes theres no sites to run so you hunt, sometimes theres no targets, and just your static in there, so its 'Bear time'. Adapting to and embracing this playstyle leads to a happy(er) existance. One cannot under emphisize the importance of scanning skills for anyone starting off in W-Space.
And the importance of having friends and/or alts is important too bcuz there is no such thing as too many sets of eyes/ears in W-Space. REAL solo pilots are cannon fodder in any WH. |

Start training your scanning/hacking skills and jump in. Maybe train gas harvesting if you want to try huffing gas. I did after playing about a month and it opens up so much of EVE. Currently living solo in a WH and finding empty holes to sell while I ninja gas, ice, and relics, with some occasional pvp. You can join a corp, but it's pretty fun being a WH nomad. If I find an empty hole I like I'll setup a small pos. Live out of it for a few weeks, and move on if things get to busy. |
