Edited by: Earthan on 20/12/2003 23:47:29 I have been recently in Syndicate and have checked 3 systems and there was nothing but Jaspet as best ore.
I like the idea of regionased ore distribution , this will increase trade, but for god sake give me a reason to be in 0.0, put better ore .
The belts are guarded by 15-20 npc many 55-75k , wich are really hard. Alone outfitted for pure battle in Raven I had to escape 2 times , with friend we killed them all.All proud we began to get the loot , suddenly slowdown and bum another 15-18 npc 20 km behind us:). With hands shaking we hit the warp button ...
WIch was fun and great but CCP give us a reason to risk , i understand regionalisatioon of ore , but put at least Gneiss or Dark Ochre..I can mine Jaspet in safe space or kernite wich is better..

Hedbergite is probably the best ore you will find in empire space. All the good ore is out in unnamed non-empire space systems guarded by cruisers and battleships ********** Everyone deserves to die. You go first.

You can find Hedbergite from 0.3 and below, but you need to look harder as they are dark colored and don't come out visibly in the eye.
For the first poster, according to CCP Dev blocs, CCP does not plan on nerfing the large spawns however, it didn't intend that tough spanws should be guarding jaspet belts either.
Their plan is to eventually match the size and toughness of the spawns with the quality of the ore. For jaspet and hedbergite belts you should be getting only plain tough spawns, then very tough spawns on belts with gneiss and dark ochre, then very very tough spanws on belts with spud, ark and bistot, then insanely tough spawns on belts with mercoxite.
Thus for hunters in small parties or even solo, you may be able to safely pick the right spawn for the size of your party and capability of your ships. For miners, it would give them an idea what to prepare, so if you're going to mine bistot, you really should be prepared.

Slithereen , that would solve part of the problem, it would be good.
Still i think they should put at least Gneiss in a 0.0 system, as a reward for being in 0.0 . Imho there shouldnt be a system with no ore better then hebergite in 0.0 .
I mean they want pilots to fly to 0.0 right?

Man i know that have you read my post?
I have mined much crockite, Dark Ochre even some bistot before patch in many regions of 0.0 in Eve.
And for cruisers and battleships i can assure that 50-75k pirates are no frigates

Ehh, what's the insane with that spawn? I only count 16 NPCs and the only name that shows in the pic is a really weak cruiser

from what i understand Jaspet isnt really that good to mine. it takes to long and takes up to much cargo space to mine considering the profit. ok i am a noob, but this is what i have been told by veteran players

Jaspet is good if you need Nocxium, but for cash mining it's not too great. The only reason I ever mine it is because my agent seems to love sending me after Nox...

Edited by: Earthan on 21/12/2003 09:45:41 Guys, thats exactly the problem im pointing.
Im in 0.0 and the best ore is Jaspet wich is very bad .
As for if its a waek spawn, the only targeted is a weak one ,cause i was busy warping away.
The are 16 NPC with at least half of 50-75k, these are thoraxes, approaching fast with MWD or AB , anyway fast and really frying you fast.
If you are so tough go take them alone, I will see you back in pod Mr. tough.
Or even in 2 from 20km , where they spawned, it will result in 2 pods.

If you talikng about red lines in 0.0 i know about them,I just find it bad that there are actually systems in 0.0 with only jaspet.
And besides it red lines usually meant better ore+ more dangerous NPC, now its not connected i think

I presume its standard these days, still it make impression on someone used to NPC before patch.
And for god's sake there is only jaspet here,...

Well, that's the problem. CCP has swinged the nerf sledgehammer on our HQ.
It was -0.7 something earlier and is -0.2 after the castor patch. But there are still spawns like: 2x 500k battleship + 2x 85k cruiser + 4x65k cruiser + 10x 12500 frigates in our HQ guarding the gneiss (which is best ore).
But it's stated in the devblog that this is a problem... So I don't care. We can mine rare ore some jumps out, so I'm just waiting to see what's happening.

Ok, you obviously don't know. What you are referring to as 0.0 isn't 0.0
Sec rating does NOT go from 0.0 to 1.0, but from -1.0 to 1.0. However, no negative ratings are shown ingame, instead they are all labeled 0.0.
The real sec rating decides what ore can be found in the system and what NPCs there are.
So, for example (these figures are just guesses), to find arkonor or mercoxit the system may require to be harder than -0.8, to find bistot the system may have to be harder than -0.6 and to find spoud and crok a system may have to be harder than -0.3...
Same way with NPCs... you'll only find 1M bounty battleships in systems harder than -0.8 or something like that...
Now you should understand how it works...
And the dev blog suggests that an error was made somewhere... The NPCs seems to scale off ok, but the ore isn't distributed at the same scale... So that NPCs that are supposed to guard spoud or crokite are instead only guarding gneiss or jaspet...

you have gneiss? we only have kernite and omber .... guarded by anything from 5 crusier and 10 frigs to 15+ cruiser spawns.....
they have an insane fast lock time, insane fast missile rof, insane speed, insane webify and warp scramble ranges.
and that all for omber/kernite.....
hopefully ccp fixes that crap soonish |

I really hope CCP fix it soon, mining jaspet with an escort of 3 BS would be extremely profitable

BTW im curious, have anyone stumbled upon regions with good ore , for example crockite in all systems around?
I know in the past it was more or less like this but after patch?

u can now find spodumain and arkonor. If u don't find rare ores where u were used to mine them just go in deeper space. And btw, CCP are not crazy, arkonor is not defended by pirate Battleships or 500k cruisers (mostly regular spawns from 10k to 85k). Miners could stop the mega crisis if they were not afraid of moving their ass to 0.0. As for carebears, if they find prices too high, it's just because they deserve it.

Nice to hear, then it seems there is no corellation between ore class and NPC strenght seems more or less arkonor and jaspet are guarded by same strength NPC

The plan will be to have to have NPC strength correlated with ore value.
It's just not implemented yet. Its still being worked out, according to dev blocs.

I was mining bistot in a 0.0 system that was 21 jumps fromt eh nearest station. It was in DEEEEEEP space. Now there is nothing but jaspet. In addition, it appears like the entire region may be that way... even in deeper space that is 40-50 jumps from a station. That doesn't seem right.

as far as the npc spawns i know of a few systems with ark/mex and the npc's are not always the same sometimes its the 16npc spawn with cruisers and frigates, other times its the 12 npc spawn with just cruisers and a few times i have seen the 3 BS and a handfull of cruisers and frigates although the BS spawn is not that common in those paticular systems it does happen from time to time. much like some of the cruiser spawns in empire space.

Do not make assumptions from just one spawn.
The spawns in one system may vary very much. First you may have a spawn of 2 cruisers + 12 frigates. Then 15 minutes later there may spawn 3 battleships + 10 cruisers...
To really determine how hard the NPCs are in a system, you have to stay there some time...
Already made that mistake. We had mined in a belt for quite some time and only had spawns with cruisers and frigates... Suddenly there were 3 battleships in the next spawn. We weren't prepared and lost a ship that way.
