Hello Gentlemen,
I think I need a break from EVE, and I may not come back. Is it because all I have is a bitter taste in my mouth? No; not yet anyway.
ItGÇÖs been about 7 years since I first dipped my toe in the pool, at the time I just didnGÇÖt have the patience for it, but I knew IGÇÖd love it so let the 14 days expire and came back to it once my life had calmed down a little. After starting up again IGÇÖd got 2 accounts on 12 month sub before IGÇÖd even finished the trial; fast forward 6 years and itGÇÖs two accounts IGÇÖm now waiting for to expire.
Many a great things IGÇÖve done in EVE, no, maybe not by your standards but thatGÇÖs not important, I played this game for my fun. Everyone has their own game. EVE wouldnGÇÖt be EVE if that werenGÇÖt true. I have a few highlights. My first war dec, only 3 weeks into the game I was able hold my own, just. After 3 weeks I finally decided the best course of action was to join another corp. Getting utterly schooled when making a cyno jump in a Rorq, to find myself a full 5000m from docking. Turns out thatGÇÖs a long way when you get webbed by a Vindi and shot by a Moros. My EVE CV slowly filled up with almost everything, mining [admit it; you did it once], manufacturing, PI, PvP, PvE, Wormholing, Incursions, Exploration, Ganking, Extortion, etc. One of the few thingGÇÖs that has never been anything more than a function of the game has been trading.
IGÇÖd like to focus on my more recent exploits. IGÇÖve had a group of friends IGÇÖve known through the game for years, the group in general has held together better than our resolve to play EVE oddly enough, moving around to the next big thing in the industry as a group. This group has joined one of the CFC corps, and they love it, I get asked almost every time I log into the TS to go join them. I flat out refuse to do so. TheyGÇÖve told me the recruitment process. IGÇÖll be asked for my API (something IGÇÖve never used myself let alone will ever be handing out) and will have an interview (ItGÇÖs not a job, it already feels like a job, this certainly wonGÇÖt improve that). I play on my own terms; always have.
To try and stimulate the game myself I set up corp and War DecGÇÖd anyone passing by. Once it got to about 20 corps I started scouting them out and discovered one had a POS, hidden away but without a single defensive structure. Using 3 battleships I slowly tore it down, at one point a short kafuffle which resulted in 6 dead ships on their side [cruiser to battleship]. Taking down a POS as one guy against a corp of 36 members I feltGǪnothing. Absolutely nothing. There was a time I had left the game like a chessire cat because IGÇÖd blown up a Tengu. An entire POS, including the corps best effort at resistance? Nothing.
It was definitely the turning point. I cancelled my renewals [which have been on 12 month ever since I started playing] and logged off. IGÇÖve been keeping an eye on the game, more out of habit than anything else. Once or twice IGÇÖve seen something IGÇÖve decided to comment on in the forums. I donGÇÖt like things that are boring so I try and add a little humour where I can. Twice now IGÇÖve had threads locked for supposedly trolling and even had a warning. My input is no longer required it seems.
IGÇÖm sure IGÇÖll be back, itGÇÖs a great game and itGÇÖs my life thatGÇÖs changed.
If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.
