Ok, as for Caldari... Caldari are a primary group ship. That whole Caldari State deal really makes a point of itself when you try to solo with any of the ships. The problem is, a group of Caldari pilots will spank the rear off most people if its properly spread out over ships.
Things to watch out for though:
Rooks: If you see one, run away. Don't log out, don't safespot, run/dock. Its one of the few ECM boats that still fits everything with a free topslot and can slap on a recon probe launcher without sacrificing any other spots on the ship for fitting mods/less power gear.
Caracals: If you see one of these in 0.0 and its not using a sensor booster, its hunting intys. A cheap caracal setup can run you about 10m all told including ship. With precision lights in t2 assault launchers, it'll eat your inty if you get inside of 10km, cause it'll double web you. I know, I've done it plenty of times and its almost always profitable. Other than that, very limited.
Kestrels: These things will gank small ships in high-sec if you don't watch out. Don't carry books or blueprints in a shuttle. Only frig to watch out for though out of all the races(bar intys and afs)
Drake: While it can't fit an extreme amount of tackle gear, one of these puppies can tank sentries in low sec alone indefinately with the right gear and gank very well anywhere sentries don't fire on it. Its best job is as primary target though. See a drake, run away. They always have friends who use its enormous tank to their advantage.
Nighthawk: Granted its a command ship, but this is one of the few PVP ships Caldari have that can go solo out against outnumbered odds. One of my corp mates flies one, and nothing else. A properly fitted one will eat a nos domi alive. They also do in nano ships quite easily with heavy missiles if they don't run. They can tank multiple BS and claim kills the entire time. Fear these things.
Finally, the Raven: A Raven is one of those boats you don't see alot outside of bombardment of a pos or mission running. Ask Burn Eden(or go look at their killboard) though and they'll swear by them, even though they use them in a group setting. Still, a raven will eat anything bigger than a cruiser for breakfast 9/10 times if the poor sap who runs into one isn't out to get into trouble themselves.
There are two types of Ravens though: A 'hope-I-get-lucky' sniper t2 cruise Raven(sometimes with t2 guns fitted), And 'battleships-here-I-come' t2 torpedo(fury) Raven.
There's nothing like a cruise raven to pick off targets who get*****y and think they can take a hit and get in on you. A cruise raven will never let you close though, and will EWAR the hell out of you for the fun of it.
The t2 torp raven, while extremely limited in range, will pump out ungodly amounts of damage against a solo BS(not nanos) and will probably do in any ship besides that as well(not nanos), except it is extremely succeptable to certain other classes(recons and inty/dictors).
That's just the majority of the single-fight ships. The Eagle(not enough variety) and Cerberus(toooooo expensive) are ok, but they just don't shine like the other classes. The Vulture is just a fancy Eagle.
I suggest going into Gallente if you want a race that is cheap and fits fun ganking ships. I started Gallente about 3 months back, including armor skills, and now I'm about 14 days from t2 cruisers. I love the hell out of their ships, and the Taranis is just too good for words.
