Im bugged as hell also, logged out while docked at stations after the patch with no problems, then logged out in space 10 hours ago and just get the black screen.
Tried logging out/in about 5 times, doesnt help.
Lucky i have a long skill set, CCP, you have 5 days to fix your **** !

Just a quick question, have you bug reported this issue so they can try solving it?

Yeah, I threw a petition to them about three hours ago explaining my situation, where my chars are located at, etc. I didn't originally because I figured "Hey, simple patch bug, everyone is having a little trouble, it's a huge patch". Now it seems only a select few are having this problem.
I guess I'm just really anxious to get it back, because I want to turn it into a paid account, and some nice person gave me a pretty decent sum of ISK yesterday and I'd like to get myself a new ship and escape that Rookie thing.

Alright, i have the same problem, looks like if you go ctrl-tab u can view the space and fly around but the overlay that we interact with (menus on the left and overview on the right) that layer is completly blacked out, I have tried new caches, i have tried rebooting, i have even tried re-installing to a different folder, i don't understand why its broken like this.
CCP needs to get this fixed. I have filed a petition and nothing so far -- Currently flying: Astaroth - Caldari Battlecruiser |

Still nothing on this end, and no response to any report/petition. Anyone get theirs fixed somehow?

I have same problem, and was out in an asteroid belt, rebooted to fix a problem where it wouldnt let me set a destination and came back to the "Entering Space" screen.
Ctrl-Tabbed to find out that I really did enter space and the rats had killed my ship......
Have open petition, but doesn't seem like much is being done at the moment :(

The same problem just hit me after playing for about four hours with no issues (even the market was working for me tonight). Right before it happened, I tried to set a destination with the autopilot and it never did set it, so I exited and tried to get back in, and it black-screen hangs at "checking navigation systems."

Followed your lead as well. We'll see.
Either way, this bug really needs to be taken care of soon. Little bugs are alright, but ones that completely prevent somebody from playing their hard earned char? Not that I'm saying I have a hard earned one, but I will as soon as I upgrade my account and work on him. =)

Heh, my in game petition hasn't been answered yet, nor has the bug report. Still stuck here. I love wasting my free trial. =P
Edit: I tried nuking my entire cache as well, and I'm back up. too.

I am also stuck on 'Entering Space: Checking Navigation Systems'. I have deleted the cache folder and it still happens every time I try to log in. I have only played the game for 2 days ... should I just start again?

Yeah, my second day with the game, and I have the same thing. I checked my folders, I have no folder structure like others have mentioned. No cache folder. As well, I can't send a petition. I've read people say "alt" - that means alternate character? Guess I will do that. If any CCP read this, I can help troubleshoot. I was going through the tutorial, and having a ***** of a time getting autopilot to work. I had to set, reset, delete and remove waypoints and (cant remember) set points/destinations probably 5-6 times before the auto-pilot would work. So I am guessing it has something to do with my massive amount of adding/removing waypoints/destinations. This game seems really buggy, especially for a three year old game. I have encountered numberous bugs, and I am still on the tutorial. Perhaps it is due to Vista? Perhaps it's time I find another game to invest in?

one more for the 'navigation systems' message, just filed a petition.
It's my first day in this game on the free trial, everything was going fine, earned 140k mining, I was getting ready to buy a ship with bigger cargo, learn my way around, until this happened.
Are bugs common in this game?

I can't really say, and don't want to be negative, and I hope I am wrong - but in the two days I have played, I am experiencing quite a few issues. Maybe it is Vista, but I have a screaming gaming rig, and I keep getting graphical and device errors timing out. The game, so far, has not been very playable. I can't imagine, as in other MMOs I play, that I'll be able to stay with Eve if these problems keep happening - How can I go on a quest that takes an hour, but I can barely play 30 minutes before my screen goes blank? lol. Oh well. Perhaps it is just me.

People, to solve this problem, locate your CCP folder, go into the Eve folder, and into the Caches folder, and delete the machonet folder. It looks like a file just didn't recreate right after the update, and deleting that folder fixes the issue.

Originally by: Lord Kuthulu I am having the same issue. I've relogged a few times but it keeps coming up to the Navigation Systems Initializing. My client seems fine as my main has no issues.
Having the same issue here, Everytime I try and log in the screen remains black, with the loading bar filled to full at Navigation Systems Initializing...

I was told when I petitioned this days ago, by 2 GMs; to rename the cache folder, the game will build a new one... and DO NOT copy anything over from the old cache folder to the new one (words changed so as to not violate CCP's forum regulations).... so in other words, lose all my settings and bookmarks
Alright, so now I'm on like the 5th time since then.... 5 times in a few days that I've had to rename my cache folder and reset everything? Come on CCP.... this is getting really old, especially for those of us that live in 0.0 and leaving a station in the pitch black means goodbye BS + fittings.
Yes it's ideal to be patient, I'm sure they will fix it. Just don't count on them reimbursing any lost ships because of it. Thier illustrious track record speaks otherwise. I guess the wise thing to do if it happens repeatedly, is to just rename your cache folder each time you plan on playing for awhile, then re-doing all your settings as neccessary.
