Earlier when I was playing I think my screen froze or something, I don't remember, I didn't think much of it. I logged off and figured when I came back later it'd be okay.
I just entered the game and I'm getting an empty, black screen(after I select my character).
If I press ESC to open the menu, the menu comes up along with a faded-out version of what I should be seeing(if not for the black screen) but as soon as I get out of the menu it goes black again.
I can also turn the interface off through CTRL+Tab, and that'll make the black go away. But I can't do anything more then fly around aimlessly without any windows.

I have had this on another game, it ended up being my vid card, was getting to warm
And where is my portrait???

hmm try cleaning out the cache it cant hurt and has worked for me in the past its the macho net in C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache on mine atleast could be different for you

What do you mean "clean out"? Isn't there important stuff in there that I shouldn't be messing with?

Regularly cleaning your cache is never a bad idea. An example of what is stored there is the character portraits of people you "show info" on in the chat windows.

Well, I deletd some pictures in the cache... They were some people I recognized But nothing. After I select my character, it loads, then just sits there... all black and lonely... However, the loading bar also stays there after it fills up(unless I press ESC for the menu) maybe its just taking really long time to laod?
Edit: When I minimize the game, I see a quick flash of what I should be seeing. Sort of like the game's there... I just can't see it...

Something similar happened to me when I tried to undock, just got stuck at a black screen. Right-clicking and choosing "Undock from station" fixed it though.

When cleaning cache you should delete everything in the cache folder, except prefs.ini and the [Settings]-folder. The rest is just rubbish ;)
