Nooo... too many floating windows... reminds me of Windows 3.1...
I much preferred the slidey fitting window. But never mind. ---

What? you prefer that floating window thing?
No way, I want my attached dropdown back, I keep on having hangers dissapear behing the fitting window, and the fitting window getting in the way of dragging modules from one hanger to another or to the ship, I want my fitting window to stay put at the back where it belongs. Then all I have to worry about is the hangers moving and coupling all the time.

I actually hate the slidy windows. All the info is always behind all my chat windows. With seperate windows I can place them where I want.

I don't like the new floating window, the old one was better. But I guess there was no other easy way around it because of the rig fitting at the pos.

They should have kept the sliding window when in station and maybe given you the option of using the new style.

Blarg, I want my slidey window back.. I had ALL my little windows and things lined up TO THE PIXEL so that 100% of my screen was useful.. I loved the slidey screen ;.;

I love the new fitting window as well. It always used to be behind my hangars and I'd always have to move my chat windows and stuff around so I can fit something. Now I have it all neatly organized. Thanks CCP!

Unless you can have 10 of them up at the same time duplicating the fittings then it's one big shrug.

For the record, the title of this thread is incorrect... the window isn't modal at all, otherwise you'd never get a chance to open or interact with any other windows... it's a non-modal window...

Personally, I don't care which way the fitting window opens. What I really wonder though is why was dev time used to make this change? Was this a problem? Was it bugged? I don't think so. If not, weren't there other things that could have been addressed instead?

an interesting effect: while in space: you can only open the fitting window at a POS Ship Maint. Array - not a carrier/MS (as per the patch notes), however, you can then fly to a carrier that is out of range of the SMA, and do your fitting there.
Originally by: Tuxford It was a dirty hack to be honest but we couldn't find anyway around it. I hope we never have to do it again.

If only the bloody thing were smaller or you could remove the (mostly) pointless statistics on the right with some kind of minimize button.

This new window on 1280x1024 or higher is tiny and you cant even resize it.
And the statistics on the right is not "pointless". If its too big, then maybe you need to upgrade your monitor and graphics card a bit.

or use the default shortcut ctrl-shift-f to open the fitting screen. you can see it wherever you want, you can just only use it at ship maintenance arrays, carriers/moship/titans and in stations.

I like the new, smaller fittings window, but I miss the "close" buttom at the bottom. Oh, I also miss the ker-clank sound when opening it.

Edited by: Grez on 21/03/2007 20:40:02 I hated having to open several containers for stuff at once, then closing the fitting window, changing tabs for weapons/ammo/etc, then re-opening it to fit it. This is much easier :D

I was about to say I really approved of it, but I didn't notice this was even possible. All hail UI improvements! May they become more plentiful in the future.

Edited by: Qalten on 21/03/2007 22:04:13 I really also like the new window...
however..it seems it no longer displays the potential fitting effect of modules when you hover your mouse over them while fitting. Meaning, if I have the fitting window open and I mouse over an Afterburner, the fitting window would adjust the CPU/PG (and any other effected attributes, such as speed or resists) accordingly. This seems to be disabled now.
Intended or bug? If the latter, I shall bugrep it post-haste! ~
