It is interesting to see that the Amarr are foolish enough to believe that they may hide behind religion and allow the progress of man to travel them by. Maybe it is ordained that those who have this gene, this intrinsic ability to become more than man, are superior to those who cannot. Is that why we are entrusted with weapons capable of destroying entire cities? Is that why we alone are able to decide the fate of our crews, and the fate of empires. I cannot understand how the acceptance and embrace of this ability makes us soul-less as my Amarr brothers and sisters claim. As a pod-pilot, I am not bound by the concerns of most. I no longer fear battle, for I cannot die. I no longer fear time, for I cannot age. I no longer fear suffering, for it is only temporary.
Do not these three truths separate us from those who are bound to their lone body, and who must fear whenever they step into my ship that they will meet their death? Yes. We are separate. Throughout history, the strong have thrived, and the weak have faltered. If you subscribe to the theory that we are not of this galaxy, we are the descendants of the most fit, who survived the cataclysm. If you do not, we are the descendants of those who were the most fit to survive our separate worlds. Our ancestors were superior to the others, and therefore we still live. We are superior to those bound to the earth, therefore we will survive.
We have the ability to live forever, to escape death; not for a day, but for an eternity. Shall we seize the chance to live, and prove our strength over others? We must. It is the way of this galaxy that there is no room to not seize every advantage. At any point in time I might be more machine than woman, but does that matter to God? I hope not. I would hope that any God with the power to choose life and death for every man, woman, and child would wish us to seize every chance for us to improve ourselves.
I agree with The Cosmopolite, we are the elite. We have the capability to command powers that the "normal" among us can only dream of. Behold the power of the Titans: the ability to wipe out entire fleets, killing millions of crew. Yet the pilots from those destroyed ships re-awake minutes later, their souls flying almost instantaneously to their new body and taking shelter within it; at least until the next time when it is forced away as the shell of the pod *****s open.
The Amarr Empire must realize that it must fully embrace this new truth, the new elite, if it is to survive. Pod-pilots will decide the fate of the Empires in the coming wars, and if the Empire beleives that it can win a war while denying its pilots some of the most potent weapons that we have at our disposal, it will suffer another defeat. As the Jovian Empire showed them so exactingly, technology is power, power is victory, victory is life. ------------------------------------------------- War, the ultimate test of skill. The ultimate pleasure. The ultimate pain. My EVE blog: http://lifeneweden.blogspot.com/ |
