Edited by: Thaer on 23/03/2007 02:33:43 So, since I realized my skill levels were to low to fly a cruiser effectively I decided to settle with frigates for now. Being Caldari I had two choices: Merlin or Kestrel, while the Kestrel seems nice on paper I never really liked it(not enough mid-slots, and to low grid to make anything useful out of with low skils), so Merlin it is.
Here are the two best setups(one pvp and one pve) I could come up with, and I just wanted some feedback on them before I worked my way towards the MAPC(a day or so in skilltraining I think?):
PvP Small 'Knave' I Energy Drain 125mm Prototype I Gauss Gun [80xAntimatter Charge S] 'Arbalest' Standard Missile Launcher [48xSabretooth Light Missile] 'Arbalest' Standard Missile Launcher [48xSabretooth Light Missile]
Medium Subordinate Screen Stabilizer I Small C5-L Emergency Shield Overload I J5 Prototype Warp Inhibitor I X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
PvE 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I [30xGremlin Rocket] 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I [30xGremlin Rocket] Light Electron Blaster I [200xAntimatter Charge S] Light Electron Blaster I [200xAntimatter Charge S]
Medium Subordinate Screen Stabilizer I Heat Dissipation Amplifier I Kinetic Deflection Amplifier I Kinetic Deflection Amplifier I (These three resistance boosters are for fighting guristas, when I change rats of course the boosters change also)
Shield Power Relay I Reactor Control Unit I
Anything wrong? Good? Bad? What should I change around?

1 problem with your PvE setup I see right off the bat is you've got a reactor control unit fitted. This module is pretty useless on ships below 100PG because it gives a % boost instead of a fixed number (+10 like the micro auxs). Might be a typo, as a Power Diagnostic would be 100x better in its place.
Also, your pvp setup doesn't have an MWD, which is the basis of all frigate PVP setups. A frigate is dead without its mwd. ________________________________ KIA Recruitment

Thing is I could probably fit a n MAPC instead but don't have the skills for it yet, and I need that last bit of power the RCU provides, as a PDU isn't enough(only III engineering, need IV for it). So I'm stuck with the RCU for now, sadly. (The pvp setup is a bit more of a long-term goal then the pve setup).

Hm... ok, I'll look into that then ;D
Edit: Something like this for pvp then maybe: Modal Light Electron Particle Accelerator I [200xAntimatter Charge S] Modal Light Electron Particle Accelerator I [200xAntimatter Charge S] 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I [30xGremlin Rocket] 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I [30xGremlin Rocket]
1MN MicroWarpdrive I Medium Subordinate Screen Stabilizer I J5 Prototype Warp Inhibitor I X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

That setup looks good!
A common thing for PVP frigs with 4 mids is to fit a sensor booster so you can lock stuff really fast. It comes in handy especially with the iStab/Nano craze (still). ________________________________ KIA Recruitment
