last stage, full aggro, got to 10% hull and abandoned 5x hammerhead II because of the scramblers.
Any thoughts on avoiding the full aggro?

None really. You need an iron tank, preferably supplemented by an alt.
I greatly enjoy this missions because it's one that actually challenges me, and I use 2 chars. It was bs Guristas, I tanked it in my Cerberus with 92% Kinetic and 80% Thermal resists, and even then only barely. My alt was in an Arbitrator pumping out some surprisingly extreme damage with 5 x Vespa II.
It's really hard to solo, get a corpie to help. ---

Just soloed this in a domi as we speak.
4x Dual 250MM 2x Drone link 5x Cap recharger II 2x LAR II 4x named hardener (2kin 1 therm 1eanm) 1x CPR 2x CCC rigs
Kill scramblers asap warp out warp in and attacked the right side battlecruisers first expecting full aggro and split them into 2 groups.
Hope that helps. -------- Kill em all and let god sort em out

Edited by: Mastin Dragonfly on 23/03/2007 08:07:10 Long range setup, fly out to where you're comfortable, (I go to about 55km). Take out the two dire frigates, those are the ones that scramble. This will agro most but not all of the rats, one group of cruisers including a dire cruiser will stay behind. Then I just start taking down cruisers and battlecruisers whilr retaining range, when they are all dead a go closer to take out the battleships with high damage ammo. This remains a difficult mission though, like others said you want a solid tank to stay alive during the initial onslaught.

55km is long-range?! The third room will have you recieving ****loads of missiles/torps at 80km even(gurista), I got so ****ed at this third room that I took the standing-hit for the first time thus far in level IV¦s.
Swarms of damn missiles, 2 kin II + 1 therm II + 1 xl cl5 - booster with cl5 amp aint enough even if you run it the whole time with the help of a cap-booster, and if you warp out you have to travel 90km within both first and second stage once again to get to stage 3...
Question is if even a 3billion raven(with a skillful handler) can do that room without warp-out.
Passus: I might have done it all wrong. (I tried to get distance with the help of AB but they all aggro as soon as I attack, then those impressive swarms of missiles starts waving in lol)

You can do it in T2 regular Raven altho having navy version makes it less hazardous to your health if you plan not to warp out.
Hi: Cruise missile launchers (T2 or good named) Med: Cap injector (x800), Shield Booster (T2), 4 hardeners (T2) or 3 and boost amp Low: 3x BCU, Damage Control, Fitting mod or something else (I have missile rigs so CPU here)
First 2 stages are more or less ok, just try to not spend your cap chagres here. I usually carry 16 of them and fill rest of my cargo with missiles. On last stage dont shoot anything (they usually do not agress on warp in) not shooting you. If something starts to shooting at you right away then aligin for wap out and see if you can kill it without getting agressin for whole room. Get approx 80 to 85 km away from main spawn and start hammering them. Manage your cap injector and shield booster manually to keep your cap around 30% with shields around 30 % also. Keep flying away, if frigates get in drone range send some drones after them before they reach you (mine is 50 km without drone mods).
At the end of day you should be able to complete it wihtout warping out altho in regular raven you might have around 8% armor damage after that missions from 'leaking' shields when they ocasionally drop too low. Navy raven is a bit easier.

As a former megapulse user, 55 is pretty long. But like I said, take a range that you're comfortable at. My tank can hold at 55km while doing good damage with my tachyons with ultraviolate crystals. The further I get, the less damage I can do, the longer it takes, and it's allready the longest mission for me.

I was doing very good in my Dominix, I was able to aggro only 2 BS in the first step, I was sure I wouldn't have to warp out. Guess what, the whole spawn disapeared. That is just not fair!!!

Mega tank required. Even with 85-90% resists the 3rd room will toast you. Mega agro. You need a dual LAR2 and enough cap to sustain both of them.
I completed it in my Domi but only with a few warp outs. I had 2LAR2, 2x T2kin hardeners, 2xT2 Therm hardeners, 1xT2 Damage Control. 4x Cap recharger 2s. This is usually fine for WC or Blockade.
I need more cap to run the LARs, so maybe some CCC rigs or a cap relay instead of the Damage Control ? hmmm....

WTF, the spawn disapeared again, and they took with them my medium drones. That's not funny at all. Anybody has a clue on what's happening?

Are you very far away from them when agroing?

You can do the last stage without causing full agro, it's very easy then.
What you do is NOT shot at the closest taregts, but fly either to the right or to the left side of the bunch. Eventualy at about 25km only one group will agro, then you turn around and only shoot at them. Can repeat for the second group (there are actua÷y 3 in total), or agro the rest when done. Works every time.

70km. when they dispeared, some were pretty close. But since I was going away from them I might have been over 100km from warp in. Thanks for the tip. I'll change direction so I don't get to far away...

Edited by: Kira Natako on 23/03/2007 15:44:43 An astarte with one med rep II, 2 kinetic hardners II (so you get 95% resist) and one thermal hardner II can do the mission without much trouble.
At first you take more damage than you can tank, but after killing a few cruisers/BC you can tank it, no need to warp out.

Had no problems doing this one in my mission Raven, tanking full-stage agro is not an issue with a setup costing quite a bit less than 3bil:
6 T2 Siege 2 Med nos
1 Gist C-Type XL 1 Pith X-Type SBA 2 DG SBA 1 Kin II 1 Therm II
1 DB PDU 1 DG Co-Proc 3 BCU II
3 Cap Sa***uard Rigs
Mix and Match Crystal Set boosted 1440hp for 122 cap every 4 seconds.

For this mission allmost no tank is needed. Raven: 6x cruises t2 (with standard cruises) tractor + salvager AB (domination 100mn) + SB (large gist b) + Sensor booster + 2 x kin and 1 therm t2 hardeners 3 x BCU + nanofiber + passive t2 sensor booster 3xcap rigs for allmost non stop ab + sb + hardeners run
tractor + salvager for looting and salvaging on the fly
With this setup you can hit em from +160 Km where only BS rats can reach you.
With decent skills BC and cruiser gurista rats pop with 2 voleys
1st stage, no need to take distance as you dont have full agroo 2nd stage, no need to take distance as rats can be pulled group by group 3rd stage, get +100 km distance and start havoc :)
It is important to take dire frigs 1st and not to deploy drones as they tend to agroo whole stage
This mission is more boring than demanding :)

Its the 90km gate distances that really **** me off in this mission. I was just in the 3rd room putting some distance between myself and the rats - no aggro yet, when my PC locks up. OK I get logged out and go to emergency warp - fine. But when I log in again instead of being taken to the spot where I logged out - as would be fair either way - I get sent back to the first gate again and have to travel 2 x 90km slogs to get back to where I was before . That is just stupid.

Overall, I really enjoy this mission.
The Good: - good bounties - good salvage - have to stay awake to stay alive
The bad: - long distance between gates. This is a REAL pain if you have to warp out and just unecessary IMHO. - Lag. That last room can cause ridiculous lag. I rarely lag badly in-game, but this last room caused me to CTD due to lag. The upside to this is that when I logged back in, the aggro was broken up in to many smaller groups and none agressed me immediately, so I could pick them all off.
Improvements: - reduce distance between gates - remove some of the 'ambiance' to reduce lag (roids, broken ships, etc.) __________

First two times I tried this I also lagged horribly and I avoided this mission for a long time, since then I tuned down my graphics setting and most importantly: turned of sound. Had no problem since.
