If anyone thinks ccp is such a greedy, money grubbing, corperate machine. I suggest they head on over to SOE, sign up for a game, buy each of 25 $20 expansion packs off of thier digital download service, and then, next week when they release an all-in-one box set fot $20 with out warning, you will know the true face of evil.

And as to your claim that you can run a 200 person TS on a standard DSL connection even the best adsl in the world doesn't even offer 1 meg up, but even with 1 meg up thats 5 kbps per person, maxing out the connection (which couldn't happen) pray tell how do you send minimum 8 kbps voice (assuming only one person is talking at once) down that connection?

To the OP: I completely disagree with you, your logic is bad as your spelling. However, I would fully support your decision to leave this game in protest, in fact, I would celebrate it.

There are SDSL's and the likes... and i think theres 24/2 ADSL2 available where i live. And Ventrillo/TS surely uses buffering and compressing... if bandwidth misses out the voice will come at a slight delay... it's really not that bandwidth sensitive... then again, neither is EVE, i can download at 820 kb/s on my dsl which is my max, and still play eve without a hitch...

It's $10 a year for an optional service, that might be a huge deal to you but I personally pay more than that for coffee every week. If you don't want it then don't get it, simple as that. What do you care who opts into this service?

I'm sorry, what planet do you think you're on? You clearly have no understanding of even the simplest principals of capitalism. When you signed up to play EVE you agreed to a very simple contract that pretty much allows CCP to do whatever it wants and guarantees you very little. If you didn't like that contract you shouldn't have signed up to play the game. Please point to where in the contract it says you are guaranteed additional features for free? Nowhere. Welcome to the real world.

Personally I don't see the need for EVE Voice when the vast majority of the playerbase already had access to good voice comms if needed.
That said I don't see that it's going to affect me - I just won't subscribe to it. And any corp that demanded that I used EVE Voice to be part of their corp can either pay for it for me or not have me as a corp member, simple 
No need to rant about it, the choice is yours.

Put it this way. I would rather have the whole of my regular eve subscription fee going towards game development and hardware costs than have a portion of that go towards a voice feature that I may not use.

Why i dont like it's becuase it sets a dangerous standard tbh.
Sure the service is great but for me this is just a way for ccp to introduce a standard of payment for ingame items.
Started with gtc and now comes voice and next T2 items through RL cash.
Im not gonna use it, cause it want to tell ccp i dont like the way this feature is introduced.
Just ad 10 cents to everyones subscrition so everyone can use it.
and that would probably make them alot more money then the current system.

Vent/TS is not free, just becuase you don't pay for it, Someone is!
I had "free" vent for a long while, but now my corp and I got kicked off  ... So I bought my own at $3 a month... Normally there are 3 members online at the sametime using said Vent... If my calculations are correct, thats more than we would all pay for the first Year of Eve-V...
I will be using it so long as my corpies agree, becuase in the long Run, its Cheaper for me!

unless vivox and ccp add some major new groundbreaking feature with this ingame voice, it's never gona take off to the extent some of you are thinking, even if they make it free.
I have personally played 2 games that had ingame communications...both of which were free to the consumer, an fps and another mmo. While the service was free, the majority of the communities still sided with either vent or ts.
Yea you'll get your few corps here and there that utilize it, and sure some people will pay the $10/yr to talk to others outside who dont have there corps/alliances vent/ts server info...but I will be very surprised if this eve voice actually makes a large impact at all with the majority of players

Callahan, it sounds to me that you should be happy that Eve Voice is an added extra as that means that the people who actually use it will be paying for it rather than you. If the service was 'free' then that would simply mean that the cost for running it would be divided up among all subscribers rather than just the people who use it (as is the case at the moment).
Option 1: do not integrate Eve Voice payment with the monthly subscription:
1)Not everyone will use it, so why should everyone pay for it?
2)As opposed to added content you do not gain more benefit the more accounts you run (you only have one mouth after all) so integrating the cost into the monthly bill would be unfair on multi account users.
3)It either makes Eve more expensive (if they increase the subscription cost to pay for it) or leaves less money for further development of the game (if they leave subscription costs the same).
Option 2: Integrate Eve Voice payment with the monthly subscription
1)It looks tidier
2)It stops people whining about it on the forums
3)...err, that's it
There are the arguments, make your own decision as to which option you prefer :)

EVE Voice is a premium feature and it will cost xtra to use it, we'd rather do it that way than raise the subscription fee for everyone. But the upside is, if you don't like it, you don't have to use it.
