i think the godfather said it best, when he said that if anything is to be learned from history... it's that anyone can be killed.
in light of the recent changes to missions, ice belts, nanos, and much more, there are quite a few whine threads out there mostly by carebears who invested months of training, grinding (doing missions, mining etc) to achieve their goals. many of them stay in high sec most of the time, avoiding lowsec like the plague.
yes, this is the age old thing. avoiding combat and working hard for their isk. no pirates came to them. time passed, and now ccp has come to them.
nerfs have been dished out. it's happened in the past and it will happen again.
sometimes i really wonder about the whole "morals" thing. is it really an artificial set of rules so that everyone can get along? think back to the days of rome and genghis khan. where does it say in life that we must get along? the police are like concord, artificially enforcing the rules with overwhelming force. there have been times in the past where desire for killing, destruction, loot, and glory has overcome these odds and roving bands of "barbarians" roamed the ancient lands. the huns started out as a small clan, and united under one front to maintain and expand their bloodthirsty ways.
again i ask, where does it say we must get along?
as i see it, in war and in chaos, social order breaks down and peoples are introduced to the bad things that come with it: death, murder, rape, looting, destruction. it happened as recently as hurricane katrina, and as ancient as the first family who went out with clubs and pointy sticks.
in times of peace, murder is by far the worst crime. but in times of war, murder is what we must do. how can a society be so jekyll-and-hyde?
who came first, the carebear or the pirate? i think it was definitely the pirate. prettymuch all other species that are predators carry the pirate mentality, from which we descended from. we used it to survive, and we'd protect each other to increase our chances.
that was over 100,000 years ago. perhaps we went wrong when food became scarce and we resorted to planting vegetable seeds? is this where the carebear morals descended from? Sig removed does not contain your name, email [email protected] if you have any questions - Xorus |
