i just trained up all the skills needed to use this cov ops frig effectively and finally managed to sort out a cov ops claking device t2, but when i try to fit it to the manticore it says i require 10000 units of cpu yet i only have 360 at the moment, is this a bug or is there something else i need to do to get it to fit?

right well that would be because Cov ops cloaks are for covert ops not stealth bombers
manticore is stealth bomber so u want improved or ptrototype cloak since u cnnot warp cloaked in stealth bombers

It's not a bug. Actually, I'm sorry to break this to you, but the Manticore is not really a Covert Ops frigate; it's a Stealth Bomber. True, you have to train the Covert Ops skill for both and they're both listed under "Covert Ops", but it's a bit like the Recon Cruisers, where one gets the bonus to reduce the cloak CPU requirement and the other doesn't. Look at Covert Ops bonus of the Buzzard vs. the Manticore, and you'll see the difference (bold text):
Buzzard = -98% to -100% reduction in Cloaking Device CPU use per level and 10% reduction to duration/activation time of modules requiring Astrometrics per level
Manticore = 5% reduction in Cruise Launcher powergrid needs and 25% bonus to cloaked velocity per level
So, the short and sweet of it is that the Covert Ops frigate can warp while cloaked and the Stealth Bomber can't. The Stealth Bomber can fly faster while cloaked, but it basically has to de-cloak, fire a few vollies, and then quickly re-cloak, hoping its enemies go away so it can warp to safety.
This is one of the reasons Stealth Bombers are not the most popular. Sorry, but you'll have to use that Covert Ops cloak on an actual Covert Ops frigate.

Bombers can't fit covert ops cloaks. Only the ships with the "96-100% reduction in CPU use for cloaking devices per level" bonus can fit them (force recons and covert ops frigates). With the Manticore, you're stuck with the basic cloaks that every other ship can use, though with the target delay and velocity penalty removed.
This is part of why bombers suck, they aren't stealthy.

ah i get it now, cheers for that, ok no problem, i was just under the impression that the stealth bombers worked the same way as the cov ops ships, (makes sense as they are "stealth" bombers) ok thanks again people

Train it to level 4 and then you get 100% speed while cloaked.. kinda like if you did have a CO cloak. ------------------------------------- The difference between a Pirate and an Anti-Pirate is that an Anti-Pirate fights ships fitted with guns!
