Hello
I have a question on ignoring agent missions and the new penalty associated with it.
Does the penalty occur each time you close the agent window, or only when the offer expires?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide _______________________________________________

what ? What ? WHAT ???
You loose standing for not accepting an offered mission ???
That has to be a joke, what about missions you can't do due to too small ship, too low firepower, ¦known PC pirate camps, time, too high collateral or whatever reason there may be ??
Well, if thats the way to go, someone has to show me the way to the cancel subscription button soon.

no, when i don't accept a mission there should be no penalty. When i accepted, well, thats a different story.
But loosing standing for a mission I DIDNT WANT, is a bit harsh.
I was under the impression that this is a game and i can have some fun with it.
But this way you don't even really have a choice, except staying away from agent missions if you aren't willing to do EVERY mission the agent offers.
As soon the nerf bat hits the fun factor its time to stop. Now lets see who is quicker (CCP or me)

the hit for refusing a mission is small, the hit for failing a mission is large, the hit for not choosing and letting it expire is middle...
It sucks, you'd think that 24hrs to wait would be harsh enough...
I've adapted: this way I refuse the ones I cannot complete (for whatever reason) and then go on to do another mission that I can do, regaining the faction I lost and some extra as well...
of course getting multiple incompletable missions in a row would suck. So far I've only gotten 3 in a row.

is there at least a way to see what kind of mission your agent is gonna offer you ?
Not necessairy to see the whole mission text, but a small hint, what kind of thing you have to do, would be nice.

Nope.
Certain corps hand out certain missions more often than not. Navy corps, Security corps, etc, tend to throw lots of combat missions at you, etc.
The only thing you -can- do, because of the 24 hour expiration time, is, read the data, close the window, get all the gear necessary to complete the mission beforehand, come back, and accept.
Time Bonus frequency goes waaay up, and I never fail a mission (Though the Get Hobo's mission will still hose you) though it can waste time (Grabbing a fast enough indy, buying the required good and getting it to the target station, to avoid the pickup and delivery travel times, etc.)

well, i still don't like it tho
if there was a way you could even remotely trigger what kind of mission awaits you ....
Noone would sign any kind of contract if you weren't aware of even basic points of what awaits you by doing this. Here, you have the thing ... 'Well, you asked for work ... now ... do this, or suffer'
Not really nice, if you ask me.

Cookie, it was necessary because a lot of people 'cruised' agent missions, what i mean by that is that they went to lots of agents in a row to find a mission that they wanted or that would give them good stuff as a reward.
This thing was done to counter this behaviour.
And roleplay-thinking, this is more logical as well, cos what do you think an agent would think if you asked for work, looked over what he would give you, and then chose to ignore him from that point on till the mission wasnt necessary anymore... indeed, the agent would think you sucked, and thats what is happening now.

But on the other hand ... just a little hint would be neat.
And i'd like to know what the penalties are ? Anyone knows how much you loose for
• ignoring • failing • declining
??
every info welcome

I declined another one of them stupid "damsel in distress" missions. Almost every time the mission is over 20 jumps round trip and the pay out aint worth squat. I mean, maybe if it had a standings reward of the two involved corps, then maybe I would do it.
The thing about them is because it uses a bookmark it does not even tell you WHERE it is BEFORE accepting it.
I barely even noticed the penalty for the "yawn, how boring" response. Especially considering I can do two missions in place of that one.

You lose very little standing for refusing to accept a mission: rather more for letting the offer expire. The agent accepts that you may have valid reasons for not doing a particular mission: you might be physically incapable due to cargo/collateral requirements, for instance. But he's still going to be slightly disappointed that you're not quite as versatile as he thought you were.
From a gameplay point of view, the idea is to stop you cruising 50 different agents and just picking the missions you can do most quickly and easily; and the exact amounts of standing lost will be tweaked until Papa Smurf is happy that players are put off from doing that, but not put off from doing missions altogether.

If you look in the "Objectives" section of the mission preview you will be able to see the system where the enemy is to be destroyed. I agree with you though...that Damsel mission is a pain in the ass. I reject it every time even though it seems to have one of the bigger negative standing hits.

Another thought though, if you're willing to run about and have some spare time, is you -could- still cherry pick, by visiting all your best agents, seeing what they were offering for the missions, and do them in order of priority to you.
Once your priority missions were done, work your way back down your queue accepting/refusing the less interesting ones. Colossal Bad Luck could throw all garbage missions at you still, but at least you have a chance of focussing on the missions/rewards you like -first-.

This is not true. I have lost more for refusing a mission than I have ever gotten for completing one. I lost 2.5 percent once and I only get an average of .9 per successful mission completed. I do not think that there should be a hit for rejecting a single mission.
Oh and that 2.5 percent hit took 15 missions to earn back... lossing 2.5 percent is a full .5 drop in actual stat.

No kidding, I think players that actually have routes and plans for visiting agents should have an edge over people like me that just set up camp in one station while doing missions.

This is how I would like it to work..
When offered a mission u should be able to say no a few times without losing standing, perhaps like this: 1st time u say no u have to wait 30 minutes for next offer, 2nd time 1 hour and finaly 3rd time u lose some standing and 2 hours waiting. This count then resets and also resets as soon you accept a mission. Developers just has to make sure the same mission don't get offered 2-3 times in a row.
The problem with ppl running to all their agents could then be avoided if the time penalty was for the agents corp.

no, this is how it should work. From any station I should be able to access any agent from solar system to region wide areas depending on an agent skill. From that pool of agents, I can actually talk to a limited number of agents, again depending on a skill. Say I have no skill, I can only talk to one agent. Attempting to talk to any other agent beyond what my skill level allows, and they will just say 'sorry, Im busy at the moment' or 'You dont have the organizational skills to run that many meetings' or something.
Preferably I can access them in space, but all in one station is ok too. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |
