Because if not, it can be a real kick in the pants.
Here was the situation. I was ratting in a very calm 0.0 system. A large train of 20+ reds entered the area. Not wanting to take any chances, I aligned with a station (the only one in the system) and selected "dock." I warped literally onto the station and bounced off many, many kilometers outside of the docking perimeter. Just my luck, I was then roughly 60 km away from the station with a swarm of pirates locking. Needless to say, my BC didn't last long. Even my pod was too far from the station to avoid the dreaded pod kill.
So, my question is, "is this be part of normal gameplay?" I lost a BC and loot because instead of docking, or at least warping to the docking perimeter when selecting "dock," I bounced off the station into space, leaving my ship an easy target.
I've found "bouncing" to be frustrating in the past, but this time it was infuriating.

The Devs used to punish us with that for using millions of BM's
When you made one to close to the station it bounced you back a few kilometers, but at a certain moment they increased the bounce strength and you ended up 100 km out
I don't understand how this can happen to you, now, with just 'docking' ?
It does look like stations move a bit like a ship on the ocean, have you ever tried landing a carrier ? Same time.
You might want to try a bugreport

I've seen a similar thing happening to a mate whereby his ship actually got caught INSIDE the jump gate bouncing around but not jumping.
Needless to say he got owned by the chasing party, but did successfully petition the loss, afaik.

Well, I petitioned and there was apparently no evidence left behind of what happened, so the ship is forever gone without replacement. I almost feel like asking one of the "killers" to speak on my behalf, as they commented on the bouncing before my death, but I can't bring myself to it. This appears to be a bug that is somehow not visible on any moderator log and if it happens to you, you're SOL. I guess I should be glad it was "just" a BC and not a BS or something uber-equipped, but it still sucks to know that clicking "dock" had the exact opposite effect that it's supposed to in the game. Instead of getting out of harm's way, it put me right in its path.

Got to have been some other problem (specially if he got the ship back) because bumping around inside the gate doesn't stop you from jumping. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |
