That was amazing! I had to make a corp mail gushing about it :-/ I had lost some interest in the past several episodes (too much filler) but this finale was awesome, and the music made it 300% better

Thanks for being a racists piece of crap.
Anyway, the show kicks a**.
Thats not racist. I'm used to American accents in space adn I couldn't give a toss what accent someone has if it's good TV. And BSG is definitely good TV.
Anyway, Rome more than makes up for this with predominantly British accents
The chap who plays Lee Adama is infact a bloody cokney(cant spell it correctly because it gets done by the swear filter!) aka a english bloke
Yep I know he is, I didn't when BSG first started, and think he does a reasonable American accent. __________________________________

Originally by: Kyozoku Hardly. The show just has an underlying theme of patriotism that I find very naff.
Remember the first episodes?
"Humanity is being exterminated, billions of people are dying!" "WHAT ABOUT THE PRESIDENT?????" "He's dead, you are now the president of the united states of the universe."
Not to mention all of the wishy washy emotional crap that makes me want to vomit over my tv. Like the way the crew on the bridge pause to applaud like idiots when ever they have a victory.
Yeah, I'll second that you've made it crystal clear you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.

I read the article, but I found the conclusion drawn by the author (Rob Owen) quite surprising
Quote: Rob's call: The producers had better make the decision to end "Galactica" in these final 22 hours, because given the show's low ratings, Sci Fi Channel isn't going to give them more episodes. As it is, a fourth season of 22 hours is hugely generous. I hope Moore and company see that as the gift that it is and give the show and its fans the proper ending due them.
I too only see one or two more seasons of BSG, but saying that 22 hours is a hugely generous offer is kind of weak. I really haven't checked the ratings, but BSG has got to be SciFi's top rated show now and their flagship production. ----

Originally by: Arron S anyway, remember when 6 said, "there are 12 Cylon models", 12 colonies, I think there is more to that.
Probably nothing more than getting to the Mormon roots of the original BSG. There were 12 tribes of Isreal, and according to the Book of Mormon, there was a 13th tribe that broke off and ended up in America. The parallels to the 12 tribes of Kobol plus Earth are obvious.
So hearing the numbers 12 and 13 come up in BSG doesn't necessarily mean anything from a storytelling point of view. It's just continuing a theme.

Never forget the stupidity they did with Farscape. Bumped it into a crappy timeslot, then complained of low ratings and canceled it one season short of finishing its story. They replaced it with Tremors. That's right, Tremors.
When that happened, Farscape fans protested by sending Skiffy channel boxes full of *****ers (an in-joke among the fans). If they tried the same with BSG, I'm think there will be riots involving throwing toasters through Skiffy's corporate office windows.
Mind you, BSG was bumped into a good timeslot, and IIRC it's been doing better in the ratings since then. That's part of the reason why they waited so long to approve the next season--they wanted to see how it would do in the new timeslot.

BSG is not SciFi's top rated show. For example, nielson ratings during the week of Maelstrom: ECW 1.6 Rose Red part two 1.2 Star Trek: Enterprise 1.2 Battlestar Galactica 1.1 House on Haunted Hill 1.1 Rose Red part three 1.1 Special Unit 2 1.0 The Dresden Files 0.9 Rose Red part one 0.9 Thirteen Ghosts 0.8
Compare that to season 1 ratings. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

i have to say, i believe they are only 150-300 light years from earth, also if they put earth in todays time line im gona slap someone, we really need BSG to end in a huge batle with earth ships, colony ships, cylon ships, and that supposed other group ive heard about(power outage in the entire fleet other things ive seen in this post)
and come on give the fleet a 3000 year old shipyard so they can fix some of the holes in galactica

You know... I wouldn't mind seeing Cylon base stars firing on other Cylon base stars. There is supposed to be a schism in the Cylon hierarchy, right?

They expanded the order to 20 episodes. There will also be a two hour movie toward the end of 2007. (supposedly)

Sorry for necro'ing, only just got around to finishing the series. HUGE SPOILERS below, but given I'm probably the last person in the universe to have watched it and you've probably read all of the thread to get to this post, it shouldn't matter...
Quote: The show had potential but was ruined by being far to american.
I can see why you have that interpretation, but I don't agree with it. (and even if it was, that doesn't stop the writing being good, the acting being good etc)
Anyway, the finale was awesome and raised a lot of interesting questions. I thought the lawyer was a great character too and will hopefully see more of him
I was wondering why they chose All Along the Watchtower. It could just be that it's a very well known song, with enough cultural relevance and enough covers over the years (wikipedia lists 60 different artists that have covered it) that the audience can recognise it as iconic, as well as those four characters. The idea that the radiowaves picking it up close to the nebula and that cylons would be able to pick those up makes a lot of sense. However, it was mentioned by two of them in conversation that "it was like something heard in childhood" which raises questions about them coming from earth.
lyrics:
Quote: "There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief, "There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief. Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth, None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."
"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke, "There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke. But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate, So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."
All along the watchtower, princes kept the view While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.
Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl, Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.
I was wondering (yes, clutching at straws ) whether this specific song had any relevence to the plot/this episode... The first two lines are said by the (possibly) cylon characters. 'Two riders were approaching' could be applied to Apollo and Starbuck at the end of the episode, 'the wind began to howl' Agathon's comment that the weather is changing, a storm is coming. That said, anything can be interpreted to fit anything if you twist it enough; the song contains biblical/apocalyptical references (watchtower, fate, riders), as well as political/social commentary (businessmen/plowmen, juxtaposition of princes and barefoot servents) and ominous foreshadowing.
The questions the episodes raised are many...the relevance of the joint dreams of Athena/Six/Roslin? And the music heard by the four possible cylons? The same thing happening to Apollo as it did to Starbuck (cylon appearing then vanishing) and the appearance of Starbuck to Apollo (real? hallucination?) Why did the power on all the ships go out, and why did they come back at the moment four characters were revealed as cylons? And if those are the four cylons, where and who is the fifth?
It makes sense, assuming that Starbuck wasn't a figment of Apollo's imagination, that she's a cylon. It would explain what the earlier cylon was talking about in terms of destiny, and explain how she survived. Only thing with that is it seems a bit too obvious
Anyway, just belatedly sharing my thoughts and enthusiasm. My roomate sat there with her eyes glazed after it ended for several minutes trying to work out what's happening/predict what's going to happen __________________________ Indulge Me Consider Yourself Indulged - Immy ♥ Wow immy scored - Xorus |
