With all the scams and the ease of not caring about others while playing safely from behind the anonymity of their internet characters, its good to see that there are still good and honest players in EVE. Here's my story... (summery at the bottom)
While 'carebearing' diligently for a long time, I had managed to save up about 550m isk. I was one jump out from jita checking the market and modifying a few buy orders. One of my buy orders was for 4 mods at 13,200,000 isk each which had been out bid by several other buy orders by the measly 0.2 isk. Wanting my order to be filled, I decided to raise my buy order to 13,250,000 isk. I don't do the outbid people by 1 isk deal. Jita was particularly laggy that day and as I was punching in the new number, a lag spike hit and an extra 5 was entered raising the buy order to 132,550,000 isk per mod. Before I could correct it, the order was somehow sent and automatically filled to someone else's sell order. The next thing I knew, I had paid about 530,000,000 isk bringing my wallet down to nearly nothing. Damn you murphy!
For a little bit I sat there in disbelief before I accepted what just happened. There was really nothing I could do but evemail the seller asking him politely to return the excess isk. I didn't hold my breath because I know how easy it would have been for that person to say "sucks to be you. my isk now!" Yeah... it was not my day.
The next morning, I log in to find my wallet bigger and an evemail from the person saying that he returned to the excess money to me. He said that he had done a similar thing before and sympathized with me. To me, it was great to see that there are still honest, respectable people around.
Summery: I had one to many digits in a buy order and got pwned leaving me with little money left; but the guy understood the mistake and returned the money to me.
Has anyone else had similar experiences of honesty or generocity where someone could have 'screwed' you over but they "did the right thing" instead?

Yes someone posted something similar about a week ago.. But as with all things that aren't of any interest to most other players it quickly ended up on page 5+

Every time you find a decent honest person in EVE add them to your buddy list and spread the word to all your good friends, because they are as rare as True Sansha spawns.

<claps> Well done whoever gave the money back.
Great stuff. I'd do the same as I would think of the hard work someone had put into the game to get those ISKies. I'd give it back.

Been there, done that. Once bought stuff for 1/10 the price, paid him back. Once sold stuff for 1/10 the price, didn't get squat back (didn't ask either).

Yours is a unique experience in EVE and is definetly not the norm for this game. I like to compare EVE to a crime simulator much like GTA only in a Sci-Fi setting. I hope you thanked that person and offered to have his lovechild.

It's kind of sad actually, The world of eve really reflects meatspace. And of course, the honest players always get lumped in with all the rest. People have become so paranoid in eve, and for good reason.
I'm an old eve player playing on a new account, and unfortunately I haven't had an encounter with an honest player yet. But I have had plenty of experience with the not so honest players, and cheats, and the like. It's awesome you guys have found some honest players.
We should form a coalition.
