With that said, I went through the mercenaries list, forums, etc and added a total of 93 mercenary corporations to my contact list. Then I went hunting for a mercenary corp to hire for event security.
I found TWO! TWO Corporations that are actually mercenaries. They work for ISK. You pay them to be your personal army, and they do their job. Of the two, one of them was a three man operation led by someone I presume to be under the age of 14 working with two alts, and the other are great folks, but mostly not in my time zone and hard to coordinate with.
The rest of the ilk said "Only if we're killing someone." Listen dudes. You're not mercenaries. You're paid pirates. You're looking to get paid to selectively pirate people. You're looking to get paid to be a Privateer's Alliance on a smaller scale.
If you're only willing to take a contract if it involves a corporation that you need to wardec or a pilot that you need to kill, that is a very limited, selective role - like I said: Paid Pirate. Think back to the Letters of Marquee that kings used to give pirates to work for them. They were selective pirates, not mercenaries.
PLEASE for the love of God, CCP, and King Kong, stop calling yourselves mercs if you're not!
i think like most players in this game you need to re-assess who and what you think a pirate is. Pirates ransom your ship and take money from you. They flash red in local, and funny enough they sit in .4 to .1 systems and gate camp in groups or solo in some cases. Mercenaries you will find are paid by other corps/ alliances to kill other corps/ alliances. They receive money based on kills/ performance and the objectives that are laid out in any contact. So pretty much all the above is incorrect. You can't lay out RL terms to describe a game that is based on ship combat.
You say you fed-up of incorrect titles, i say i'm fed-up of people posting rubbish on the forums because they find themselfs with spare time on there hands. Do some constructive and learn how to play the game. Then when you post on here ppl might pay more attention rather than flaming you ...
