Ok I've been playing Eve now for about 18 months, I've lived in 0.0 for the best part of 12 months.
I've tried most parts of what eve offers, mining, PvP, missioning, PvP, production, PvP, slavaging, PvP , pirating and exploration. None of these are enjoyable for me. Ofcourse I dont have all the skills maxed out for salvaging, production or exploraration but looking into the reward vs time I dont think its worth it. EDIT: I've also created and ran a corp
I am lost, and I can not find a role to do in eve. I have also done a lot of PvP, and this too is dreadfull. Its either a roaming gank squad or sitting at a gate with a gate with a gank squad. If you have a large fleet in hostile waters, they all dock up, SS or log until they can get a force to fight you.
My account runs out in a few weeks, and I am considering taking a break but not sure for how long.
So why am I writing this? well I want to know if others feel the same way? and if I have missed some role that I have not tried?

Near enough everyone has a gap at the 18 month mark or so - I have, twice. All my corpies have. Its almost routine for people to.
My advice is to take a gap, and then come join my corp
If you're an addict it'll be no more than a 2 week break - But could be as long as 5 months. But when ya starting thinking 'hmm i miss flying my 'Bla bla ship', Thats when ya gonna be coming home
Seeya when ya get back

I'd recommend taking a break. When you start playing again things will feel fresher and that.

All good advice. A break to do something else for a while really does help to put things into perspective. Pop your stuff in storage, set a long skill training and see you in a few months!

I cannot imagine how become bored of EvE, except of some wierd ideas of our loved GMs.
Have u really reached everything? Can u really fly everything on almost 100%?
Infront of Indutry: Have u got all Capital BPOs? (which is a very profitable ecconemical target!
Are u sure that u ve seen really everything in EvE, of course not the Jove Empire :D
Have u already broke the 10Bil mark on your wallet?
If not, keep playing from dusk till dawn

Ok no, I have not seen everything, I can not fly all the ships. I dont see the point of training for everyship each race takes about 3 months to train from frig -> Battleship. As I say my skills are not maxed in every area, I only have PE4 and well I didn't like manufacturing stuff anyway, its not really a hard thig to do (buy/mine mins, get BPO/BPC, install job, wait, sell) As I said before its all about Time spent to do thing on eve. Training is too long, for very little return.
Why would a I need 10bil?? and probably thorugh my life of Eve I spent this much anyway :P

Set a long skill and take a break. Play some of the new games that came out(Supreme Commander,S.T.A.L.K.E.R.,...) or go out with friend or whatever you like. Come back after a few weeks and you'll enyoy the game again

I take a one or two week break every six months or so. I usually find myself drawn back to the game at that point. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Then i recommend you to take a look around for another MMORPG, cuz i guess u don t really enjoy the playstyle of EvE.
For myself, i love the sound of the turret weapponary so i play eve over my hifi-center and it sounds great. Now i m train my skills for Minmathar to taste the sound of 1400 Howitzer :D

Who says one has to play EVE forever? If you no longer find the game fun, simply stop playing and find a new game.

I swear in the year and a half I've been playing about 3-4 months of that has been me on breaks training longer skills.
Without breaks I don't know if I could stand some of those 30+ day skills.

How about solo belt piracy in Empire?
It's definately something that takes a few grey-cells and certainly challenging :)

Set long skill and take a break for a few months. If you still feel the same afterwards, then thats the time to quit.
Now summer is coming up who wants to sit in front of a PC on a balmy day anyway?

Its pretty normal, I've had little gaps and burnouts from various things, but at the end of the day I view eve as a glorified chatroom with things to do.
I play the game mostly to do stuff with my friends / corpies and just have a laugh.
It sounds like your concentrating on the mechanics more then the community aspect. ______

Everyone needs a break now and then, I think, I'm due one, myself. Set a long skill, and check out other MMO's out there. There are a few that are actually free to play, and are fun, if a bit grindy higher up (Korean MMO's seem to love grinding) Also, most of the populer larger MMO's have free trials, try one of those, I just signed up for a trial of World.... of War-craftiness :) This is my sig ^^ |

I hit something similar at around 13-14 months. Kept paying for the account and rolling skills, but I didn't actually play for a while. It was just last weekend when I finally found a new goal and revitalized my interest in EVE.
Something I read in another thread suggested joining the EVE University; it was to a player with 50+mil SP who was bored with the game. Sounded like an excellent suggestion to me, so I figure when I finish my skill plan in a year or two and am fairly done, I'll stop training on my main and go teach, and roll a pirate alt [/url] |

The real question is... why NOT to quit eve after 18 months really... at that point you will have reached 20-25 mill SP. That means you can have good skills for guns or missiles, good skills for Battleship, ceptors, AF's ++ and possibly some t2 ammo/guns as well as whatever industrial skills you need. Really until this point most goals are rarely more than a month or two away, but what happens next is typically 3 months or even more of nothing new really happening...
I am thinking of capital ships, command cruisers, advanced leadership skills and stuff like that.... if you embark on that you start the training but it takes months and months before you can really get anything out of it.
I actually think most of the eve players have felt or will feel that pain... especially the ones with only one account (/me shudders). If you ask me, this is more than anything what gets people to pick up and leave eve.... some come back and some dont.
The best advice I can give you is to look for other aspects of the game than the actual game... What have kept me in the game for over 3 years now is the great friends i made and the long term strategic aspect of eve... World domination for lack of better :)
Get your two-three best mates interested in joining a veteran corp with insanely ambitious goals and good leadership and go after the goal to rule eve... thats what I did, and I love it :)
And take a break if you have to, after eve.. all other MMORGS feel simple and flat, believe me I know :)
P.S. dont join Bob... I am gonna kill them all.. YARR!

Now is the time to set one of them long training skills you been holding off on...you know that 29 day one. Let the account expire. Take a break, when you come back, you will come back. There is one less long skill to contend with.
18 months seems to be standard play time for any MMORPG. You can take a break, see what else is out there, come back to where you belong.
