i was drawn to not this system but a nearby because i the map showed many ship losses in the last hour. equipped with salvagers i was on my way. i stopped in loes because i thought it had a funny name:
Gindar > shop at loes Okura's > shop for what? ;-) Gindar > all your hardware needs
just then, about 7 haulers jumped in. some of them warped to a station. the rest just decloaked and started floating around like stainless steel balloons. some of them had suspicious names.
Gindar > whats with the macros Okura's > dont know, haulers all Okura's > shoot them Gindar > freaky
at the same time i was thinking, "wait a minute, haulers in lowsec?! this is not right!" and apparently not! the place seemed to be a haven for mission runners, some of which couldn't speak english.
Gindar > this place needs more pirates
at this point about 4 haulers targetted me and 1 of them convo'd. i accepted.
cptbeaver > hi Gindar > sup cptbeaver > go Gindar > go where? cptbeaver > loes 3 Gindar > why are there so many haulers and macro names cptbeaver > why Gindar > yeah. how come? cptbeaver > you
i just couldn't shake the feeling that this guy was using a translator. i warped to the said station to find out more. there i found a brutix just outside station. i tried to scare him by targetting him and mwd'ing around him, but he just warped to somewhere in deadspace. then a dominix undocked. he had an english sounding name, so i thought maybe i'd ask him what's going on.
missbort > WHAT? Gindar > hi, sorry to bother you Gindar > what the heck is going on with this system? Gindar > no one speaks english missbort > I DONęT KONW
bewildered and frightened i closed the convo. at this point i put in my pipe and donned my sherlock holmes hat. i warped to the other station and docked, hoping to find the answer to the riddle. and there it was, the source of all the strangeness.
Loes 5 Moon 19 Roden Shipyards
Level 4 Quality 20 Distribution Agents. FIVE of them.
overwhelmed by an alice in wonderland feeling, and in awe at the total void of piracy in the area, i cringed as i watched hauler after hauler warp in and out freely, and dominix's and cruisers warping in and out of mission deadspace. We used to pirate there, but the macro haulers just made it too much effort to keep track of targets when there's like 15 of them jumping in and out of the systems none stop if your close to loes. ------

I scooped about 10 bodies in front of one of the two station in the morning and I'm pretty sure they'll be there in fresh clones and fresh ships when I get back there.
One single successful courrier mission pay enough for a new hauler and new clone, they get ganked a lot but not 23/7 so the venture is still very profitable for them.

This kinda indicates that they are not using macros. As a macro would warp them to the station.
Anyway, if you kill them while they are carrying the mission tat then they will fail the mission and lose standing with the corp. Eventually they won't be able to use the level 4 agent. That might be a way of fighting them.

Is the mission automatically failed if the cargo is destroyed ? Otherwise , they can just take mission objectives from their stock and finish them anyway...

It'd be an interesting party if we got every pirate corp that we could together to go wipe out that system. I can see it now, the haulers all get destroyed and suddenly there aren't any targets left. Then pirates do the only thing they're good at: Drink a bunch of rum and start shooting each other. It'd at least scare the macro'ers into thinking maybe thier system is gonna be the new hang out spot.

It's annoying to see so little action following those "woot macros in lowsec too easy" comments. It is not , you need to chain bestowers continuously for hours on end to make a small difference. What it would take to put an end to this , is an organized macro-watch militia in Loes and Jovainnon , taking turns to permacamp gates indefinitely. A carrier or 2 would greatly help , though I suppose carrier pilots generally have more profitable or entertaining jobs in mind.
Remember , the problem originates from the players - those willing to buy ISK. It's up to those who don't to sort things out.

CCP realy needs to be a little more proactive about going after macroers, Its against the rules yet they continue to thrive and sell billions of isk by way of legally selling GTC's.
If it was up to me to do something about it I would personally make systems like loes with many lvl 4 hauling agents and use it as a trap to atract macroers to make them easier to catch.
I realy dont understand why they are allowed to continue this despite everyone knowing about it and to be honest it should not be out responsibility to put a stop to it. The game mechanics just make it impossible to do anything to end it for good.
Even if we decide to do something about it there is 0 isk gain because the mission cargo is worthless so all we get are sec hits.
I have no problem with people making buttloads of ISK doing hauling missions, I just want them to actually need to be at the PC to do it. ------------------------------- C.D's Formula for success ------------------------------- Credit Card = Game Time Card Gametime Card = ISK Therefore Credit Card = ISK.

You're missing the way the GTC sales work. The only one making real life cash off of GTC sales is CCP. The macro-ers are not making RL money, but they are making buttloads of ISK. Whether those are making it to non-legal (game terms) sellers .... but don't blame GTC sales for macroes.

I took a nice vacation there a while ago. I brought back this pretty picutre and this promotional pamphlet.
That said Loes is a good time until you forget that you are flagged, tanking the guns, and some other pirate shows up to try and pop haulers. With the sheer number of bestowers it's hard to kill them all and watch local at the same time.

I scooped 18 corpses this morning between the front of the station at planet 5 and the Oueletta gate. And they weren't there yesterday evening.
Whoever did it, thank you.
For them to cease we'd need to make their business unprofitable, seeing as a single completed mission buy them a new hauler and a new clone short of a week long 23/7 system lock down I don't see this happening.
But I don't think we'd get all people to agree not to break the gatecamps even if this one would obviously be for the greater good of the game. Popping farmers at gates is dangerous, not because of the farmers but because any passer by with a scram and a decent tank will make you die to sentries eventually.

Maybe if you get the time you could bring up that pic and count the triangles just to make sure |

I killed a few of them at the gates in my stabber. They just carry crap, but it was still fun. I also petitioned for a GM to investigate. - BOOST OUTLAWS (-10.0 and proud of it) |

If you're in a gang of friends (say five of you) and you kill a hauler, does everyone get a security hit? Or just the person who gets the killing blow? Or everyone who shoots at them?
Every one gets flagged
Not everyone in the gang, just those who shoot. So don't scram a pod, then have someone else pod him. You'll still get a -.4 sec penalty.
Because I said so...
