Because some people can not play Eve 24/7 but would like to have fun and be competitve when they do play, i would like to make a suggestion that would help even things out and make things a bit fairer.
CCP should make skills train faster while a person is offline. This can make the casual player some what more competitive. But still allow the "Mega-Player" the advantage of play.
I'm writing this because of a post that I read in which the author pointed out that he is a casual player and pays the same amoint that avid players do, however, the game is not fun for him because he just can't get over the hump so to speak.
So CCP please consider this or another alternative and everyone else please let me know what you think. If death doesn't kill me...nothing will. |

I dont actually know anybody that plays eve 24/7. I work an 8 hour day and play eve onaverage for about 2-3 hours a night. If that puts me into the super player league then so be it.
How would speeding up skill training times help? What you are saying is that you spend more time offline than on. well its the same for most of us
Why shouldnt you pay the same as the rest of us? its your choice as to how much you play.

The good part of your suggestion is that it helps the casual player to keep up with the ninja player, to some extent.
The bad part, which is several million times larger, is that it means people can start an account, never ever go online except to train skills, and in six months have an uber-character to either play with, or sell on that website that we're not allowed to talk about.
So, it ain't gonna happen.
The harsh answer is, quite simply, it's up to you to decide if the EVE price is a fair one for the amount of time *you* can spend playing. I can be here 16 hours a day, most days, so it's chickenfeed to me. If i could only play one hour a week, i'd still love the game but I wouldn't pay to play it.

This makes no sense.
Say two players start the game at the same time. Player 1 plays 18 hours a day, 7 days per week. Player 2 plays 6 hours per week.
Both player 1 and player 2 will advance EXACTLY as quickly in training skills (assume they choose the same progression, have the same attributes and player 2 always logs on to set a skill when one is done training).
Player 1 may get better at doing things like combat from practice and may get more goodies such as rare items and such but they will both have identical statistics regardless of play time. it is one thing that makes this game cool allowing players who don't play as much progress at the same rate as heavy-duty players.

Actually guys I play quite a bit. I happen to be one of the ninja players that everyone complains about. I play at work. I play at home. So I'm not suffering from not getting the most for my money problem. However, many people are.
Whether it is what I suggest or something else it is a problem that needs a remedy. If death doesn't kill me...nothing will. |

I sympathise with your argument; the trick is finding a remedy that can't be massively exploited. Your suggestion here, is not such a trick, but thanks for trying.

Dude EVE is the kindest game to people who can't play a lot. EQ, Horizon's and AO all require you to be on line to advance at all. EVE as far as I know is the only game that let's you advance off line and you think they should do more.
PS If you think people who play 18 hours a day are getting ahead ask them when the last time they had sex or saw their feet while standing up was.

Edited by: Aiwa on 23/12/2003 20:11:13 It would really test their servers though lol...25,000 ppl on just to train
I don't like this suggestion. I like the training off-line..I can go on vacation for a week and be doing a 12 day skill and when I get back I have it done and no one else does because they don't want to take the time.
What does that mean? means my char. is more unique and can be used in different tasks others can not do.
Go play earth and beyond...talk about jumping close (each jump has like a 15 second animation to it while it loads) and repetitive game play

Or maybe people could stop ******* whining and realize that you can enjoy and have a place in the game without 10m skillpoints and all the best equipment and 18 battleships.
Some players will be powerful, others (most) won't.
That's how all games are. That's how life is. The struggle for power makes things interesting.
Deal.

I see. So i play 10 hours, someone else plays 2 hours, and we're supposed to be equal in advantage. Yeah ok, thats reasonable. -

Jepp, and since you are so lucky and can play 10h. You should actauly pay (Eve-cost$ / 2h) x 10h. That way you pay for the time you have fun.

This ain't a bad idea... Players who are online, still have the upper hand. You need cash to buy new skills, once a skill in done, you can start the next one.
Even if player drop loads of money to buy skills for an other avatar, and trains them all one after an other, and only logs in to swap to a new skill/skill level. Its still along amount of time/day's weeks you will be spending away from eve just to grow in skill power.
Personaly, I say, stick to the current systeem. But yes, if the dev's are looking for some feature to put mroe balance between power players and common players this might not be a bad idea. ______________ System spec's: Windows XP Professional AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz Memory: 1536MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b NVIDIA GeForce4 FX 5950 Ultra 256.0 MB at 1280*1024 IIYAMA MA203DT Monitor Max Res: 1920,1440 SB Audigy Audio |

it's silliness, they'd be encouraging ppl to NOT log in with their characters so that skills would train more quickly. that's too funny. lmao rotf... pmp -- Jump Drive Operation / Rank 5 / SP: 1280000 of 1280000

I am both COMPLETELY FLOORED by this and totally NOT suprised.
What is it about MMO games that brings out the lazy beggars? When it came out, I played UO and saw the same thing. Are the nerfs CCP introduces not enough, and you need MORE given to you? Are you this lazy in real life?
I get to play about 2 hours a day, maybe a little less because of work. I do not expect to be handed things I didn't work for. I do not expect to be equal to a player that gets to play for 6 hours a day. Sad because the hardcore player has more/better stuff than you? Tough, welcome to life. The more effort you put in, the more you should get out. THAT is fair. |

Listen, its not as hard as everyboty says to even out the experience. Who like increased interstellar travel and what is the point other than to slow game play?
2. Make an alturnative to mission running and pc pirating, come on CCP, its that simple
You dont have to remove anything from Castor to do this, and the worst dev you have can make the changes by themselves...
Problem is, you have no new content, its all the same re-hashed and re-packaged as the pre-Castor....
Why am i doing courrier missions with a mining agent or survalance agent??? Thats retarted, if the missions actualy did what they say they did this game would be cool still, but they dont and its not because there is no alturnatives.... If you suffer from space madness too, there is help friends. SMA is now avalable to help you cope with the blackness and non-sense of a CCP driven eve. Thats right, Space Madness Anonoumouououse.
