I did not do missions for some time and today tried the lvl4 mission "the blockade" against blood raiders. I noticed that the NPC's are now nossing. Some maller cruisers do it and i saw at least one apoc who used a nos.
Is there info on how this works?, range? ship type?, number of nosses per spawn? It would be helpfull. I drive an apoc (with rigs) and could run dual LAR II and 8xmega pulse without interruption but now my cap is gone in 30 seconds .

Edited by: Kaiso Ohad on 29/03/2007 22:10:35 The same happened to me in Cargo Delivery lvl3. Dual rep Apoc, pride of Amarrian starship engineering, sucked bone dry and rendered useless in under a minute. Couldn't quite figure out which NPCs did it because the mission had more nebula and geometry than any of the older missions and I was more busy rescuing the drones, that got jumped by the reinforcements, while having 2fps and all my chat-windows blinking like a christmas tree.
Need for speed, indeed.

About time that the mission npcs start using nos and other electronic warfare. I enjoyed the new missions very much so far and all you need to prepare for is the racial ew that will be used. Meaning you will have to adapt or you will die. :) |

Oh come on. Nos is widely known as being overpowerd in PvP, let alone PvE.

I don't mind that they use NOS, as long as it's used fairly. If they can render me helpless with it, I would expect to be able to do the same against NPC's. I believe in the past, you couldn't completely drain an NPC and therefore render them helpless.

I've posted multiple times about this. I've been nossed by the BS and the Elder BR cruisers from at least 40km away. The completely shut down my t2 fitted raven in a matter of seconds. I hadn't even run my booster, just hardners and they drained me down to 0 cap. ----------------------------------------- Pimpin' hoes and slammin' cadillac doors......

Ohh come on, it's fine really. The Worlds Collide for example with Blood/Gistii is completely ok. And there when you jump to the Blood gate, there are 3 apoc sucking you dry.. use a Drake and passive tank, you're quite ok to kill frig support and then move onto BSs.. Yes you need to warp out 1-2 times, but otherwise it's fine..

One thing i'd like to see however is EW work the same on NPCs as some has mentioned. If I use 2x NOS i want to drain NPCs, not waste slots for nothing.. :)

Do Amarr Navy NOS now?
I lost a Raven In The Midst Of Deadspace (4/5) and could swear my cap was acting funny. Of course with all effects and sound off (to make the game playable) it's hard to see who's doing what to you.
Of course, it didn't help that my gangmate started unloading torps onto me for a while! ----------------------------------------------- You want soft toilet paper? Go play WoW. Eve is Hotel Bastardo. ----------------------------------------------- |

Here is some info i got from running the blockade
apoc battleship : corpus harbinger : nos range 24 km apoc battleship : corpus archbishop : nos range 24 km arma battleship :corpus oracle : no nos maller cruiser : elder arch templar: Tracking disruptor range 70 km, nos range 40 km maller cruiser : dark priest : ? battle cruiser : corpior shade : gun range 30 km no nos
if you get mixed up in a group they suck you in under 30 s regardless of rigs and quad cap recharger fitting.
The battleships nos and disrupt the drones too. I don't know if they nos the closest target or just the drones if you are out of range of the nos.
any additional info is welcome

Is there NOS efect from NPC ? without it its imposible find out whitch ship doing what to you. Anyway strenght of EW some new missions have is ridiculous and NPC imunity and players imposibility to counteract as well. So far only EW usable on NPC is web anything else dont work or work partialy (ie NOS and their unlimited cap).

Yes, both nos and tracking disrupter effects are fully visible, but be care full. A nos is a high-slot module but the nossing ships have a full set of guns fitted and still nos.

Right. I don't mind npc's having 'special abilities'. It adds an element of challenge.
However, npc's nossing a cap to 0 is 10 seconds or perma-jamming or dampening to 9 kms is just silly. If I wanted to pvp, I'd PVP. When I npc, I'd like to have the *option* to occasionally lock at target beyond spitting distance , particularly if I'm being warp-scrambled in my very expensive npc-ship. If I can't fight back against even NPC's, I'll just go gank easy targets by joining the Privateers.
Somehow, I doubt CCP had this in mind when they designed the new npc EW effects....
Oh, and don't tell me to adapt... adapting is only viable when you can change your tactics to actually have a chance to *win* ; currently, many of the npcs can keep my offensive abilities locked down more effectively than a godlike 0.0 gate camp can.... perma-jam anyone?
though the result is the same, surely this is not what CCP intended?
Game should = Fun. Not F-you.

Try Angel Strike part 10 of 10 Storyline mission.
When you have to destroy the chappel to complete the mission there are 2 groups of Blood Raider rats containing BS, the group on the LHS do not use NOS, however the group on the RHS can NOS from upto 40km, there were only 3 or 4 BS, but my cap was sucked dry in under 60 seconds. It made it intresting to say the least, luckily I noticed in time!

Does this also mean that the NPC rats will drop the mods that they have fitted? I mean, pvp ships drop the mods that they have fitted most of the time, and that includes officer Nosferatu and other UberMods...
Are we keeping this all a little fair CCP?

NOS is more or less fine IF you can get your cap back by NOSing back. In my experience however at some point your NOS stops working on NPC's (and they still tank). Granted - that takes usually more than 30 seconds to happen
Anyway - 'missions more like pvp' is fine for me as long as I have fighting chance. If I would encounter 10 BS plus 40 support cruisers in PvP situation in my missionpwnmobile plus perhaps support ship or two I would run like little girl not going down figthing valiantly against unwinnable odds.
If missions are tuned more into pvp type of fights (NPC using EW, NOS etc) then they should also tweaked a bit in 'balance' section. Perhaps give them actually same ships as players have (meaning they would actually have to fit them with same modules) so that when they fit EW they will have to do some sacrifices also. And I could NOS them try in return. That would also mean them equipping proper tanking modules, guns/launchers (more than one) and so on - hell perhaps even drones (altho that might be a bit laggy).

This is what you find now on most 0.0 missions/cosmos. It will be fine If you have enough time to let the cap recharger ship warp in without aggroing anything, but with npc's draining your cap in 15 secs it's much harder than intended I guess.
