C-R-A has recently purchased an alliance and are accepting applications for people to join with their corporations, or create alt corporations so they can run their own research.
ò Hosting two large towers in a 0.5 system (Bawilan) in the Sinq Laison region and up to 100 research slots currently available
ò Ability to always keep your bpoÆs in your own corporate hangar so there is zero risk of theft
ò Ability to run your own ME/PL research to your heartÆs content
ò A player built market of bpoÆs within the same system to minimize your need to travel and purchase your own bpoÆs
ò Set feeÆs on installation jobs for only 4 million isk per month per slot (cheapest player run labs in eve)
ò Free Alliance Entrance for a limited time
ò Train yourself a character in under 2 days, who has skills to run 6 research jobs at a time, 10% faster than any npc station without any queues.
ò Separate yourself from your mains. I donÆt care if your main is a pirate, a scammer, or a carebear. The purpose of this design is to ensure labs are available in empire for anyone wanting to use them.
Sounds great, how do I join?
All you need to do is create your alt/s and a corporation of your choice. Then apply to join Zzz Alliance (bottom of the list) in the corporation tab (alliance > rankings > sort by name) Please see below for alt creation guide.
How much do your labs cost?
Our pricing is as follows. 50k per job, plus 12k per day. This comes to a total of 8 million isk, assuming a bpo cooking in the lab for a full month. When considering the profit margins off sales on these bpoÆs (cruisers etc), research is awfully cheap, not to mention cheaper than all of the competition with zero risks.
Do you have any recurring alliance feeÆs?
The only alliance fee we will charge is a total of 5 million isk per month (after the first complimentary month). For those in alliance doing a lot of research, there will be various reductions and incentives, as well as direct contracts we may offer them for research services.
How about COPY and INVENTION?
At this point in time, it is not possible to complete copy and invention jobs through the alliance. For some of these jobs, however, we may allow an alt to join the corporation to complete their research, or offer to handle portions of that research for them.

What if your labs get filled?
Quite simple, I will expand my operation. I already have a third tower awaiting anchoring if the demand is great, plus a lot of extra labs ready for deployment.
What if you go to war?
You will likely all be alts, or station warriors, and all bpoÆs etc never leave the corp hangar of the owning corp, so there is no risk. If war does arise, I would recommend having your mains or a non-alliance alt deliver your bpoÆs.
Can I get a referral bonus or hard worker discount?
Certainly. Once we get operational, we will have some labs for high standings players at cheaper costs. As your standing increases, your costs will subsequently decrease. Standing increase will be achieved by the following but not limited too:
ò Referring your friendÆs corporations or alt corporations to join the alliance
ò Keeping a constant stream of business going through the labs
ò Completing contracts that I provide to alliance members.
(This may include me paying you to research my blueprints, running deliveries, providing minerals, and the likes. None required, but it is optional for those wanting to get more into the research game)

What skills does my alt need, and what is this under 2 day training thing you mentioned?
Designing your character:
1) Choose Caldari
2) Choose Achura
3) Choose any gender
4) Assign stats to +3 int , +2 mem
5) Choose Inventors
6) Choose Industry
7) Choose Engineer
8) Choose Entrepreneur
9) Make your pretty picture
You should now have the following relevant skills by default:
Laboratory Operations V (Control 6 slots)
Research III (15% bonus to research production efficiency speed)
Science III (15% faster copying time, also pre-requisite skill)
Thus far, we have needed zero training time, and have been born with 802,000 skill points. At this point, your nerdy looking character will be born in Lonetrek, and have a 21 jump afk trip to take (make sure to select æprefer saferÆ in map)
After this, you will need to purchase the following skills, or obtain from the Bawilan market when you arrive.
Scientific Networking û 6.75m isk (7m isk if sourced from Bawilan)
Metallurgy û 315,000 isk (350,000 isk if sourced from Bawilan)
(Both can be bought from startup station before you depart, and training can begin en route)
Here is your training schedule in the following picture, along with timeframes to complete:

Within 1 day, 18 hours you have the capability to control 6 Laboratory slots, that will research 10% faster than an npc station, without the queues.

Hi thanks for your queries. As with the above link, I am looking for any other research corporations with their own stations established, to come and join the alliance, to expand our coverage. I also expect some of the internal corps currently using my labs to get their own stations online under the alliance umbrella. But for one person already running two POS's alone, as well as 2 public corporations, it would not be viable for me to personally open up more POS's in other areas of Eve.

Slots are unreserved and will remain this way. At this point there is no queue, and I am simply anchoring and onlining more mobile labs as required. Ultimately I will/may need to anchor a few more towers, but we will cross this bridge when we come too it.
At the time I created this alliance (1 week or so ago), I had 14 labs in circulation. At time of post, I now have 25 mobile labs established (3 yet to be anchored), so I am just expanding as demand requires it.

Sorry, please don't bother with that link, I will remove it asap, it was back when I just researched other people's bpo's myself, which generally doesnt happen any more. There are no queues whatsoever, however ME is reaching capacity awfully fast, so we may see 1-2 day queues at periods between expansions.

Good question. Due to there being no way to currently do this through the alliance tab, it requires the trust factor, and in regards to invention, it also requires advanced skills. Copying is not a problem as my internal characters can handle this, but Invention will be on a 'per user' scale, and those interested can contact me in-game to discuss options.
I have however, begun purchasing the necessary Data Tuners, as we currently have some high end bpo's in place to begin dabbling in this field.
I hope this answers your questions sufficiently.

I was initially interested in this venture, but felt the monthly corporate costs were rather steep (50m per month), and would ultimately hurt my shareholders. I managed to purchase Zzz for a good price, so am thus far very happy with the decision I made.

Thanks for your post. You actually found a typo, (I initially calculated incorrectly, then edited to reflect true cost, but forgot to initially change that section)
Yes, the lab will charge in the exact formula you described: 50k+(12k*24hours)*30days
Obviously, this is only assuming you run 1 bpo for a 30 day period non-stop.
Let's say you wanted to run 15 bpo's over the 1 month period (assuming you use only 1 slot at a time). Cost would be : (50,000*15)+(12,000*24hours) *30days

As an incentive to promote research with my towers, I am offering 2 weeks of half priced research. Any jobs put in place within the next 14 days (starting at downtime today) will only be charged : 25,000isk + 6,000isk per hour.
This beats the competition in pricing by over 50%, and should be further complimented by the construction of our third tower and labs. Right now, we have the spare slots, and look forward to getting lots of people being able to research without queues and at reasonable prices.

I do have a question for ya though. You say:

I.E. On my main I have Metallurgy V, so he's got a research speed that 25% faster than base. Will the alt have a speed that is 10% faster than that? If so, I think I need to change my pants.

Well a POS gives a 25% reduction in research time. So ultimately this would mean that a person with metallurgy 0 in a POS could research at the same speed as someone with Metallurgy V in an NPC station.
Having said that, I believe Metal 3 is a requirement to use Scientific Networking (using npc corp to store bpo's etc and remote research). So assuming the person has Metal 3, the end bonii would be 15%+25% inside the POS, where your current bonii when using npc station is 25%+0%.
Adding them up, and POS always wins no matter what combo you use.

I suggest you change them then . If your main was to join into the alliance (as an example), he would have 25%+25% as his end bonii. As per the above calcs you are correct. An alt with the above training schedule of under 2 days will be able to research 10% faster than a main with metal 5 using an NPC station.

I would like to say we now have our third tower online and operational, plus another 10 or so mobile laboratories in operation. As we reach capacity in the future we will continue to expand to minimise lab queues. Currently we have no queues whatsoever, around 20 ME slots are not in use.

I've got an alt corp using the service and I couldn't imagine going back to life without it. Seriously, why wait 15+ days for a slot so you can do a 2 day job when you can get a slot in the alliance inside 4 hours.
I'm not affiliated with Ricdic at all I just think it's a damn good service. It's good to see people working to build a player operated alternative to those abused npc lab slots rather than just whining about the problem.

UnitedResearch endorses the Zzz alliance. For research and industry types, this service is excellent and functional. Our corp has years worth of research running that would normally occupy more than one tower, but we avoided the up front costs of installing our own POS, not to mention the standings it requires.
I really hope the copy/invention slots get fixed by CCP so we can start using those too!!

I've been a member of this alliance for over 3 weeks now and I have nothing but good things to say. In those 3 weeks I've gotten more research done than I would have in months using public labs.
The lab rental fees are reasonable. Take into account not having to invest tons of capital into your own tower and labs and not having the headache of managing and fueling it the fees are a bargain.
I would (and have) recommend this opportunity to anyone wanting to do their own research. |

I've been a part of C-R-A for several months, during many changes and all I have to say is that things just keep getting better here. Now that we are a part of the Zzz alliance, you too can see what I mean. If you need research done, this is the place to head to! Ricdic is a great guy and is always helpfull. I have nothing but praise for him, this corp and now the alliance.
I've never personally seen so many towers, labs and research slots in one place before. The best part is that as the alliance grows, Ricdic expands the research capabilities to match 
come on down, give it a shot. why pay someone else rediculous amounts to research your BPOs or wait weeks for public slots to open up, when you can do it yourself for less :) (wow that sounded like a commercial  )

Nope, you just wait 24 hours from the time I accepted the application. You don't need to do anything. I think it is some kind of cool-off period imposed by CCP.

Ok guys , tower 5 is now operational and labs are being placed as we speak. I have chosen the system Jel for this, as it is a mini-hub in Sinq Laison, and an excellent place to market your products, or even run missions between research. The 6th tower has also been purchased, and as soon as tower #5 is up and running near full capacity, we will get it online in the same system.
At this rate, we are accepting approximately 10 corporations a week, which is great for growth. Our retention rate is minimal with maybe 1 corp a week/fortnight leaving as their research completes or their Eve time takes them down other paths.

Nope, for most normal items you only need the base skill (metallurgy 1). There are a few specific items (t2, t2 component, capital) that require advanced skills, but these can be seen by showing info on the blueprint, and seeing if it is a research material section in the attributes section.
If it has nothing, only the skills I posted in the first post are required.

I've joined this alliance about a month ago after reading about this service. It turned out to be a very good decision.
Who doesn't want to have access to free research labs, in a safe location, get a significant research speed bonus, and all this at a great price.

Correct, bpo never leaves your own corporate hangar. And correct, there is no way I can take or even see what bpo's you have, nor can I see what research you are doing, just that the slots are in use.
You will be notified if a POS goes under attack, however bpo's never leave your corp hangar in npc station, so pulling them out isn't really a necessity as they cannot be 'lost'.

I might not have read the entire thread, but is there any way to get copying? I was thinking of buying a bpo, researching it and making copies for some passive income.. Could I do the entire operation in your alliance?

Unfortunately copying with this method isn't possible at the moment. CCP seems to be working on a fix, however.

Hi
Not sure if this was asked before. But what if your alliance is wardecced? Ofc it's every pilot and corp's own responsibility to fly around in empire during a war, as it always is .... but would you recommend joining your alliance for research purposes ONLY? and having out of corp/alliance 3rd alts doing the hauling?
You see, I also do some transportation jobs/services in between, sometimes eclipsing Empire. That's why I ask.
Just curious, as I am quite interested - just a bit paranoid. 
Last question: I see atm a lot of free slots in Bawailan. This means I should go there, establish an office and apply to ZZZ there? and bring my BPO's there? Not sure I understand the reomte thingy thing.

This is correct. However, office rental fee's are a little high in Bawilan at the moment, so I am planning on moving one of the towers there across to Brapelille once it's current jobs are completed. Brapelille has more npc stations and a decent amount more spare office slots available.

Basically you rent a standard npc corp office just like normal. Then, you put your bpo/s into your newly established corp office (in npc station) and right click the bpo > research material efficiency etc. Then, instead of the traditional way of selecting npc slots in station, you change view to Alliance, and station to solar system, and you will see my labs there. Basically research is almost identical to npc research.

Well invention currently isn't allowed by CCP at this point, it cannot be done through the alliance. But ME/PL can be done within the same station, with all your bpo's in the same spot in your corporate hangar as above. It works precisely the same, and there are precisely the same amount of PL spots in the same locations as the ME slots.

No ongoing fees at all. There is an Alliance fee but I foot that bill. The only fees you will ever pay, are when starting your jobs and they are all automated identical to that of an NPC station factory or research lab.

I've already done full sets of ammo and missile BPO's to perfect ME for about 2/3 the price of sets on the market. They go by fast. Ships are just as easy, and much more profitable. Great service all around, and lots of good people. If you make your own gear, you can't afford to miss out on this.

Question to users: Are you satisfied with the service? Are there really many free research slots? My alt corp recently joined another research alliance and there are no free slots right now. I can queue jobs up in 1-2 days but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

Im looking and im liking what i see, we have 2 large POS sitting in heimatar running 21 labs, on average we will have half of it being used but once are bpos are done we where looking at tearing them down, if we can offer another region location to the allaince im sure this would be good idea. We also ice mine madly, on average we mine around 660 blocks a hour(10 macks plus comd alt) of ice but may be able to offer some sort of ice mining service to alliance members at reduced price also. I will convo u or convo me when your online in game to briefly go over the in's and out's, then we may well offer a corp app to the alliance and our services. We also hold 7 cap bpos / 3 carriers and the rorq, plus all T1 bpos pretty much 674 was last count all bpos, all ships upto battlecruiser. what do u think ?

don't the corps need hangars in order to be able to research at the POSes? if so, aren't the offices taken already or the taxes VERY HIGH? :)
just asking out of couriosity... it's indeed a great service for those who do not own a POS

You can own an office in any station in the system and this is spread across many systems/regions so the fees shouldn't be all that high at all.

Hey guys all apps have been processed. As Shadarle said prices vary a fair bit. A location like Bawilan for example has higher rent than normal so I have removed the install fee for that location (you still pay per hour).

Am I hearing there is now an alliance membership monthly fee, while 5 MIL isnt anything too serious it certainly doesnt appeal to prospective members who read into your advertising ...
One final thought ... most research alliance services have varying costs between ME and PE slots. It appears all your slots cost the same ... is this the case or did I miss some fine print somewhere?

Definitely deserves a BUMP for the concept however ...

This all sounded rly great after reading the first post, so I got my newly created alt in in hope to quick research of my BPOs...
But hen the reality started to show up.
I'm complete noob in things like research and production, so I figured out the fact I need to rent an office, I need more skills than mentioned to research my Rigs BPOs and dunno what other surprises I'll meet on my way to researched BPO...
You've really should mention all this things for ppl like me, who got interested in research after this opportuniny showed up. Make an FAQ or smth plz, coz all details I didn't get from first posts in this thread are so confuzing...

It's not his job to educate you on everything there is in eve. There are very good player guides for this (check on the left navbar on the eve-online forums and the dozens of resources available).

I am sorry about this however rigs weren't even in the game when I started this forum post (yes it was that long ago). As for the corp office rental i assumed it would be common sense as you need somewhere to put your bpo's and my post does advise it needs to be in the corp hangar.
Now, I am no longer running Zzz, this is handled by SonOfAGhost, however everything is proceeding as per normal.

There is no alliance membership fee. There was a once off 5m fee required for existing members to weed out the inactives (as they were costing the alliance hundreds of millions of isk whilst yielding zero profits (as they weren't active). This was a once off that 'may' be charged again in the future but this depends solely on the new CEO. If he decides to charge some form of monthly fee i will update this post to specify.

I thought it was listed on front page but PE is 5k install plus 5k per hour, far cheaper than ME.

Some questions if I may.
I only have 2 characters. I am trying to decide if I should just make the 1 char (who is a main) the solo corp char for this venture, or to create an alt.
I see that the alt you recommend starts out decent. Pretending that I will never invent, just how much more skill time would be necessary to really get serious out research. Am I understanding correctly that there wouldn't be a lot more time needed (skills only increase quantity of slots)? Again, ignoring invention.
Is using a main highly discouraged? My main is a miner so I figure this would be an excellent use of multitasking (especially since I don't envision this dude going much past 0.0 hulk tanking as far as mining is concerned).

i send in an application for ZZZ alliance, and its now on status of "Accepted" in the Alliance, My Applications window. Is there anything else I have to do ? (I remember that there is an alliance mailing list that i will auto join, but i dont see it) Do i have to wait till next down time ?

I am in exactly the same situation, the application in corp window says "accepted" but my alliance window says that my corp is "not in any alliance at the moment" what do I do now, how do I access zzz's research labs, I'm in Ardallabier but buggered if I can find anything other than NPC stations and I've warped around a lot looking in the system.

Hey guys,
As per my first posts when accepted into an alliance you are in accepted status. 24 hours later you become "Effective" status. Once you hit effective you can use the research gear, chat in alliance etc.
It should also be mentioned that SonO***host now runs the Zzz chain, however applying here as per normal will still get you in.

POS positions shouldn't have changed.
However I recommend people move over to this thread for further information where the new owner is advertising the service. Prices etc may change and people should be reading the up-to-date thread on the matter |
