I hope they take it seriously, as it is the case that the devil is in the details.
Trying to incentivize it? Because not being able to use the majority of the items available in the game isn't incentive enough. :P
I would think so, but then every corporation has its own culture bubble that deviates from the norm of common sense. Which is where you get weird things like this.

I doubt it's maliciousness, just a matter of awareness.

13 1/2 years since the game's release. 13 1/2 years doing business globally in the gaming business does not allow them the benefit of the doubt due to "inexperience". They've never heard of making games friendly for colorblind individuals in 13 1/2 years? Have they never played any other mmo than their own in 13 1/2 years? Have they never talked to any other mmo developers other than themselves in 13 1/2 years? Have they never read a mmo gaming forum or website outside of their own in 13 1/2 years? Because that's the only way they've never ran into the fact colorblindness is an issue other mmo developers started caring about and developing tools for a long time ago. |

I would like to ask a probably related question. It seems that not only the UI but also the space itself changed colors. Instead of a blueisch hue now all space and ships I saw in Lonetrek look slightly greenish. |

Thanks for the link. It doesn't look like this anymore. As I said it has a greenish hue like verge vendor for example. Also my screen is not broken because in the small spaceship icons Caldari ships still have a blue beckground.

For some reason i feel that this 'inexperience' if a trademark of CCP. They for years do the same thing: never look back, never look around, always 'experimenting' and blindly boldly stepping into fails....

This really needs to be addressed. Having an UI color scheme that make your eyes tired only makes you to want to stop playing. Not sure if this is what CCP intends with the alpha accounts, but if its this, then they are having a huge success.

As a brand new Alpha who tried to recruit a few nolife buddies into EvE... I have to say your suspicion is my conviction. Yet, I got to really like the UI, but it took me about a week of actively looking into how to set it up the way I wanted it to be.
The limitations already feel really severe for someone who's used to the F2P market of these days, but it all makes sense once you starting to have a grasp on how things work around here. Or I should say it all made sense before I learned that UI colors are an Omega feature.
They say Alpha clones are only for trying stuff. I say it's just the Hard Mode.

The whole colour scheme changes to a bilious yellow colour. I have no idea why as the pop-up on the comms tells you all about it. |

Yes to a colorblind option and yes to allowing Alphas to use all the color sets. A resounding no to opening up the whole RGB slider debate again...

I will not even consider resubbing if they don't make the UI more readable.
Scrollbars are impossible to detect and makes it incredibly ackward using the game.
Nice going CCP. Seems after many, many years you have learned nothing.
Good luck with trying to promote your game to new players!

Thanks again. I imagine they are trying to incentivize people to Omega up, the problem is they are new to the f2p game, and haven't taken all cases into account on certain incentives, like UI and various color based vision problems, for instance. I hope they take it seriously, as it is the case that the devil is in the details. Well... They have 14 years of developing experience. And they have a lot of f2p games around to look how others do it.
And still they make the same mistake for years by not counting consequences and not looking around for already proven solutions.

When I was an Alpha, I didn't even know that there were different color schemes available. First time I logged in as an Omega, all the UI colors had changed. I thought I broke something. Nice to see they're trying to address the color blindness issue though. A long time in coming, perhaps, but welcome all the same.
Respectfully Submitted.

Seriosly CCP. In a game where the ui is mostly how you play, you should consider taking them back to Alpha's. Also, try to fix it for people who are colorblind.
Ships and what not, fine. But it is just colors. |
