So...our small corp decided we'd like to go see 0.0 space. We knew it wasn't a walk in the park, so we did some preparation, made sure we had ships that (we thought) would have some survivability.
But it didn't work...we encountered a 10 man (approx) gate camp (there were FIVE people listed on my killmail) and we survived about 30 seconds. Yes, we knew the gatecamp was there, but we were in ships we were prepared to lose, so we thought it would be fun.
It wasn't much fun as it turned out...though I have to say I was impressed at how fast my shields and armour disappeared...though perhaps I shouldn't have been when we were outnumbered 3 to 1 at least...but...how is anyone supposed to get to 0.0? Is it simply a matter of paying some extortionate fee, or what? ---

Group together with people with similar interests. Alliances have had the run of eve since creation altough these days there grip is alot tighter.
If you do not want to join a corp, Learn to adapt eg make a mobile base (POS) live out of it, haulers with escorts and scouts can survive easily enough just beofre and after DT'S

Aye don't we all. but Groups be it corp mates or small allainces (unregistered) often help to take the strain.

As a 0.0 dweller in a big alliance and pipe runner, I can tell you that the first system in 0.0 even if it is the most dangerous is not camped 24/7, in fact most of the time it's pretty empty, you just have to pick the right time and not to let your pride tell you "let's run through come on, it's just 20 sniper battleship with a dictor on the gate, nothing to worry", some gatecamp are simply "no go" if you are in something smaller than a fleet. Once your through you are relativly safe. Just look at the map and find a spot off road. Anchor your pos and start to work.
Also an easy way is to go to nrds space. ----

So, where did you die?
I'm guessing EC-P8R. HED-GP and PF-346 are fairly likely as well. Some systems are fairly routinely camped, and some are suicide. There are lots of entries into 0.0. Don't just follow the quickest autopilot route, if you were a camper, where would you camp?
When going in, what you do (this is a really brilliant, super sekret plan) is you have someone in an interceptor jump in first. He looks at the gate and if there are more enemies than you can handle, he MWDs back through the gate, and you either get more people (to shoot your way through) or you go around.
I travel to and from 0.0 solo all the time. I lived for 4 months in 0.0 in a corp of just me and my alts (with no standings to anyone).
The only thing in your way is your own stubbornness.
I can't believe I'm explaining this to someone with 64million SP.

QFT. The entrances which are camped are the most common, convenient accesses. There's plenty of ways into 0.0, but they require numerous-jump detours. There's a couple regions like Metropolis for this sorta thing. I've dont many 0.0 sojurns as an individual and lived with all my stuff intact.

I reccomend designating a good "face-man", or corp rep, to shuttle around and use JC's and talk to some other corps/alliances. Alternately, scroll through the corp recruitment forums and find another corp that matches your playstyle and see if they have 0.0 access, make contact and see if something can be worked out.

i dont know why you would just suicide like that.
everything constructive to say has already been said miners-you can: switch, rob, wardec, nerf, scam them, buy below market, pirate them on their way to sell. mining < trading, ratting, manufacturing from market bought minerals, they still wont go away |

Historically Kari/Y-MPWL entry into providence is fairly safe... that is NOT the same as safe.. but fairly safe.
Providence region is historically protected by anti pirate enteties Corps/alliances, so its a relatively good place to get accustomed to 0.0.. thats where I started anyway.
In the area they probably still is some shared channels that is used for coordinating against pirates... ask around Esa, they may still be there.. I last spoke to the anti pirates there about 4 months ago. I hope they are still in operation :)

Edited by: grm reaper on 02/04/2007 00:45:09 Its all about standing, usually its alliances that organise standings between each other, I mean if most the people in a region are friendly to you your less likely to get shot at.
Timing is also important, I went through a period where I couldnt be bothered travelling the safe way so I afk'd 30 jumps in low sec and 0.0, I didnt even get shot at for a week. The next week I was paying attention but had to move during peak time and was hit 6 jumps in.

Made it to Curse via Stain, starting in Pator one night in a rookie ship. No scout, but used the map to see which systems had > 1 pilot recently. Took a chance on a few, lucked out.
As others have pointed out, 'when' is oftentimes as important as 'where.' Shortly after DT is a great time, since the larger gatecamps have not yet organized. Shortly after dinner either Europe or US time is not a good time to go anywhere. Neither is the weekend.
Other tips: WCS is only good for the one-man gatecamp, so fit intertial stabs instead. Use a scout. etc, etc.

You dont have to be apart of an alliance to survive in 0.0. aside from the previous year, our corp has been 0.0 dwellers living in the backyards of some very angry beasts. Your corp CAN do it. If you need some pointers, drop by our public channel: monkeypub :we'll give you a hand.

Edited by: Kylar Renpurs on 02/04/2007 01:35:16 Just to emphasise, as an unaffiliated (read: KOS) individual I have visited Venal, Syndicate, Curse, Catch, a couple of the new regions, Ismother, Tribute, and come back *with* profit. Admittedly, venal and syndicate, being so highly populated, were more difficult to operate in, but I was still able to function.
It's quite an adrenaline rush at times,,

Yeah, that's what happened. I wouldn't sound so high and mighty about it though...if you'd had even numbers with us, THEN I might have been impressed, but the Warcraft Orc strategy of "Ugh! Bring more boyz!" isn't exactly demanding of intellect.
For the record, we have no issue being shot by you. You're pirates, it's what you do, and apparently, you're very good at it (as long as there's enough of you).
For the reocrd again, yes, if you HAD had even numbers with us, I STILL think you would have kicked our asses. We were carebears on our first day out into 0.0, and as such probably easy prey for any PVPer we came across.
Originally by: xtreamer lol ^^ i promiss i did not shot him
Yeah, you did - but not on your own; Killmail lists;
Arnold Swartzenegger (Megathron, TII 425mm rails - don't ANYONE ever tell me again that you can't hit small targets with these...) Good hits mate... xtreamer (Raven, low frequency sensor suppressor - I really must look up what that does) eXtas (Rapier, Warp Disrupter II, meh, I wasn't going anywhere anyways) MEISTERderPUPPEN (Sabre, 'Langour Drive Disrupter) ETS4ME (Arazu, Arbalest std msl launcher - I don't think they hit me though, Arnie had already blown me up...ahh, the cry of missile users everywhere)
For everyone else who's interested, we were going out through P3en-e (Someone, PLEASE tell me that CCP realise this is an anagram? ) and really the whole point of the exercise was to see how far we got. Not far . Sure, it would have been nice to encounter a smaller group and actually have some fun (we didn't even have any warp scramblers fitted, as we weren't planning on holding anyone down) but as it is, our losses were sustainable...three ships and one pod...we're all actually amazed that two of our pods managed to get away, AND back to safety.
So...no hard feelings...and to everyone else who has offered advice, many thanks. Maybe we'll try again sometime soon. ---

Oh, don't even try negotiating with BE grey matter. Chances are they'll take your isk (and a whole lto of it) and shoot you anyways :p
(sorry shin, but the whining would crash the forums, and I need those)
Anyways. Evade gatecamps. It's fairly doable. Set up shop in an npc region like curse or venal, and go nuts on the npc's to get minerals to rebuild the ships you're going to lose while learnign the deal.
Oh, and with even numbers you'd have just lasted another 30 secs maybe :p BE aren't my biggest friends, but they're a fair way above average when it comes to ganking skill.

Rod is correct regarding setting up in NPC 0.0 but avoid Syndicate. Its the armpit of the npc regions.
Another tip for running pipes is look at the ship kill stats on the map. For example Paala and Skaarkon have become heavily camped lately by pirates looking to pick off easy haulers full of Plush compounds. Of course if your smart, you would know there is a 3rd route out of the Drone regions that is not nearly as camped and only takes an additional 5-6 jumps (a corp mate made the run down from emp on a saturday night w/ only a few issues in a hauler w/ cloak and no scout).

Don't give false advice now...P3en is NBSI, and many of the boys out there really like to shoot stuff. If you make it in deep enough maybe you'll be able to find someone to talk to that won't insta gank you. You have MC Astral Wolves and Pure as well in roaming gangs you have to avoid. If your corp isn't so strong on keeping the name there are easier ways to get out to 0.0...especially drone space:

There are plenty of ways to 0.0.
- Check the map for blobs and possible camps using stats overlay. - Check intel channels if there are any - Scout system with covert ops - Sit by the gate and watch the type of traffic making it through - Find another way if you encounter a camp, there are plenty of ways in
Remember - if it aint blue it's goo
You can't just move into 0.0 unless you're willing to fight or you have diplomatic relations with corps/alliances operating in the areas you wish to occupy.
BTW, that's a small camp u ran into there

Closing in on 64 million SP and you've never travelled to 0.0?
It was mentioned above, but yah... look for 0.0 territories that operate under NRDS (Not Red? Don't Shoot) policies. There are several such areas in Providence.
There's still the danger of pirates and a few renegades, of course. Also some basic rules that the corp/alliances with sovereignty ask to be followed.
You'd definitely want to establish communications with a local diplomat if moving an entire corp down to stay, mind you. _______
