Stil got mine, use it for Frig gangs and Frig 1v1s still, just not as much as I did when AFs were the most powerful ship class I could fly. -----

Edited by: Bren MacKay on 03/04/2007 02:37:46 I still use them fairly often, definitly one of my favorite afs. And the only one i'm actually decently comfortable with taking on larger ships in, you get some insane ken/therm resists if you can squeeze two eanms on it.
EDIT: come to think of it i've gota get down to jita to put together another one, lost my last one to an Enyo and Vagabond who decided to help his friend out

I believe him, only because there are a lot of REALLY crappy drake setups out there. ______________________

If you have the right fitting and take care of the drakes drones first his his missiles are easily tankable. Heavy precision might be a problem if he has the skills though.

Calling someone a liar for something that may or may not be true is not all that awesome. Its possible he's lying, or its possible that someone was a nincom**** with fitting. You'd be amazed what you find fitted on killmails. Not to mention, A T1 fitted drake could theoretically have 10% EM resistance, especially if its fit to run missions or plexes.
In summary, I wouldn't call him a liar, but I'd have to see it to believe it. ;-)

Why is that so hard to believe? Its not like everyone out there has a perfect (or even decent) setup. After seeing a ranis solo an apoc in a video, Im pretty sure that with the right (and wrong) setups and sp differentials, any ship is capable of beating the other.

Interdictors have pushed it aside. A Sabre, which is fairly common, can tear one of these apart easily.

3 of us, me in an ishkur, a rook, and a pest took on:
crow harpy x 2 enyo ferox (with jammers.. wtf???) drake hurricane
the rook was doing good at keeping the dmg off itself with jammers, with me taking out the little things 1 by 1, i got the inty webbed (stupid fool) and he popped, started on the enyo, and then they warped out, but the enyo scrammed me, so i popped the enyo but then the cane had a scram on me, so i went to work on the harpys, by the time i died i took out both harpys and took the ferox into armor (no tank, just jammers, i managed to get a few lucky locks in to transfer drones to target)
ishkur is far from dead boy

Edited by: welsh wizard on 03/04/2007 10:40:50 If the drake doesn't have the sense to carry EM & explosive missiles then getting killed by an ishkur is a very real possibility. You seen the kinetic resists on an Ishkur? Factor in the ships size and speed in orbit with those resists and it'll tank a Drake no problem if the pilots cap skills are upto scratch. People often fit Iskurs in the usual boring Gallente way which is with nos aswell so it can maintain its cap even better. Kill its drones? Not if they keep recalling/releasing them...
Moral of this story is always carry all types of ammo (or be boring and fit nos in that 8th high).
edit: Also I'd agree with Entilzah, assault frigates are pretty poor currently (gallente being the exception). They're pretty expensive for what you get and can't really take on anything other than tech I frigates and nominally fitted interceptors.

T2 price tag, with a vaguely sensible t1 alternative means you don't see so many of 'em. This goes for iskhurs, ishtars, cerbs and a whole load of phenomenally overpriced T2 ships.

I have been dam curious for a long time, how come the Ishkur doesn't get a drone damage bonus???
Would only go along with the others if it did.

Personally, I veiw my ships worth not on market price, but on damage. Say I spent 30m on my Ishkur, which is about right...I view it as "paid off" if I kill about 30m worth of enemies.
One of the biggest pluses in my eyes is a cargo with more than 100m3, which means lots of ammo, and a small bubble. So far I've caught a Viator, Wolf (lucky he got close to web), bunch of frigs, and my biggest was a Dominix...Although that one was cheap because it had a shield tank and full stabs. But still...I love the AF. Its fast, its armored, its just downright nasty. And now that its all paid off in my mind...I attack anything and everything. A lot get away though, but you win some you lose some.
You're right that I don't see many others, but I had an ishkur v ishkur fight once, and Im glad there arent too many running around. ----------------------------------------------------------- Will get a signature when I think of something witty. |

I solo'd a ferox in a harpy, but yeah a decently tanked drake would be tough. Maybe if the drake was all damage and no tank ?? Or an active tank with cap issues maybe.

I dont doubt the ishkurs ability to tank a drakes damage. What I have a problem with is devising a drake setup crappy enough for its tank to be broken by an Ishkurs ~200-250 dps.

Probably killed in belts with npc support. EM drones with nothing but base Drake hardening which could have been as low as 10% (BC level II). The list goes on...

Technically speaking a SOLO'd a drake before in a malus, granted it was only with sensor dampers, web, and scram while the gate sentrys killed him after i warped in just as he blew up someone else.
Also you can get someone in a plex, It does not take much of anything to kill someone with 12 rats helping you. ------------------------------- C.D's Formula for success ------------------------------- Credit Card = Game Time Card Gametime Card = ISK Therefore Credit Card = ISK.

The Ishkur just hasn't been the same since Revelations came out. The rise in peak DPS requirements to take out 0.0 battleship rats means the Ishkur's sweetspot is gone. You could use it for missions, sure. But why not just fly a cheaper cruiser? I fly an Enyo for pvp...turrets reach out and touch you faster than drones :)
