Hi,
since the 1.4 patch I don't get security status gains anymore. My sec status is at -4.1, I'm killing 1.8m bounty npc battleships in 0.0 and not getting a single gain. Is this a common bug, a new feature, or it's just a bug on my character ? I've already sent a petition days ago but no answer yet.

Have you looked at the Character Sheet > Security Status ?? I would of thought there would be more posts about this if the problem was abit more widespread.
Also is this the correct forum?

I'm having the same problem. I think it's something about continuing to kill spawns during the aloted 15min time period. I noticed if i'm chaining then my sec rises. If i move from system to system taking down a couple of battleship spawns, nothing happens.

Am I right, or am I a total PvE noob, but I thought you only get a sec gain every 15mins?

Edited by: Miklas Laces on 03/04/2007 10:08:44 I know about the 15 minutes thing and the security status tab, don't tell me that. What I'm saying is that I'm not getting a single sec status gain, even if I kill npc bs for 3 hours.
p.s. not sure it's the correct forum, but I though here I could find negative sec status people that may have the same problem

Had the same problem. Solved by taking a sec hit and only then I could go up again.

no you are right altho it's actually 10 minutes after u kill an npc that you get the sec gain not 15 like many say. Doesn't sound like that's the issue here tho.
Sounds like a bug to me.

So let me get this right, we can only get a Sec gain after every 10 mins. If so then i disagree you should get a sec gain after every NPC you kill, well thats how I see it anyways. Tell me if I am wrong.

not quite sure what u are saying tbh. yes you only get 1 sec gain every 10 minutes so if u kill 2 npc's within 10 minutes u only get 1 sec gain for the 2 (the biggest gain). unless you change system then u can get another 1 every 10 mins for that system. and it really should work like that other wise it would take no time at all to get from -10 to 0.0 and bears would complain.

Same problem here. I chained 7 BS in multiple systems, but so far I only got 1 security increase.
Killed the first BS at 13:08 last one at 13:34. Time of sec increase 13:34.

I think that getting your security status back should be an effort that takes months - something like running ridiculous missions (like level 1s and 2s) hauling 20 militants around or delivering polytextiles or Zemnar until you get so mind numbingly bored you go back to 0.0 and remain a pirate.

Perhaps the devs want to make being a "criminal" more costly and VASTLY more difficult to recover from. So maybe it takes 6 months of chaining spawns to play on the playground with the carebears and not 6 days.....that or its a bug, I mean COME ON, this is EvE.
Personally I dunno why anyone would want to go back up, I'm still focused on my -10, been a -9 for far too many weeks (0.0 pvp needs sec hits for known pirates).

I'm curious. If your sec status is -10, and you've been deliriously happy in 0.0 space with your corp and alliance, fighting big battles, camping gates, and piling up isk like there's no tomorrow, why would you ever want to come back to empire space?
Eh? if it's so good in 0.0?

For fleet Ops, there is nothin like 0.0, but I can understand the whole cost thing. A corpie of mine, CEO, has a -5.7 me thinks, just got skills to buy a Cerberus, wanted it NOW as in NOW, and not soon as a corpie can pick one up in Jita for cheap. I recall him saying something about a 30m difference between 5 systems for a Cerberus. So yeah, 0.0 has one jacked up economy at times. I personally didn't take the financial end into the equation when I decided to nuke my sec status, but hell, its a game, so who cares if I pay 30% markup. I got the isk

It does take months, unless you have the ability to play eve 12hours straight chaining battleship spawns uninterupted in 0.0. Otherwise, what your suggesting is, to some degree, already implemented in the game. Some would even argue that it is too hard to get the sec status back up when, in comparison, you can go to -10 in a day easily.
For the purpose of remaining ontopic, however, I have also petitioned it and i've yet to recieve a response. Here's another observation I've made: If you kill something then log off you don't have the sec increase when you log back on (used to be able to do this a few weeks ago) but, when you log back on and imediatly kill something, you should get the sec increase immediatly from the previous kill you made before you logged off.
So, for example, kill bs log off for how ever long (usually untill i wake back up), log on kill frigate get bs sec increase.

Personally I think a sec increase should be easier since it goes down so fast. Or maybe make penalties less harsh.
Last night I was *cough* visiting lowsec, and came across a wolf. Scrammed, f1-f4. He warps off. Darn WCS. Skip around a few systems. Find a bellicose sitting in a belt ratting. Scrammed, f1-f4. He warps off. Darn WCS.
I lost .4 security for attacking these two targets. Granted they were both in armor by the time that they warped, but I didn't kill them. To get that .4 security back, thats either LOTS of 0.0 ratting that I don't have acess too, or missions(kill me now...).
But then again I'm kinda biased.

Ok, he didn't say it, but SOOOO many people in 0.0 are constantly chiding those who stay in Empire space, saying how great it is, how much more isk is made, how much fun PvP is, how much fun fleet battles are, etc...

Edited by: Niphireum on 06/04/2007 22:57:44 If going for Sec status, kill bs wait 10 minutes kill the next one, wait 10 minutes kill the next. 1st kill does not get a sec increase. 2nd will be applied at time of 3rd kill. 3rd at time of 4th kill. ect ect. Rinse and repeat.
Edit: I know this works I've done it many times since Rev has released. And I'm doing it right now infact.

In the end I had a senior GM doing some modification, and right after I was gaining some sec status again.

I've also noticed the same problem. Thought it was just me missing something tho.
TBH tho, its about time CCP allowed us to bribe concord into removing some of our record (at least within a set limit). The lower your sec and the more you want to repair, the more it costs (exponentialy of course) so a minor 0.1 ajustment cos you overshot the mark would be relitivly cheap but a -10.0 to say 0.0 erasal, would cost an extraordinary amount.
Could be quite the handy ISK sink and encourage a bit more piracy. Hell could have the bribing process be a bit of a gamble resulting in you loosing the isk and getting an increase if it fails.

Answer to my petition:
We apologize for the late reply.
There do seem to be some problems with the security status gain system, but there is unfortunately not much that we can do about this directly. Therefore I would ask you to please file a bug report (https://bugs.eve-online.com/newbugreport.asp) regarding this issue. This would let our bughunters know directly of the problem, and allow them to fix it, hopefully.
Best regards, GM Markab EVE Online Customer Support.

I have a topic going, about the same problem, in game development forum. Look here. Plz post there about your problem, and also try to keep it on top so the devs read it too.
Also dont forget to send a bug report about it.
The weird thing with me was, I wouldn't get an increase for killing npc's in a mission I accepted from my agent. But would for killing npc's in someone others mission. I dunno about 0.0 cause I dont live out there at the moment.

WTF, the EXACT same thing is happening to me and the guy (a Senior GM) blew me off saying something like "the higher your sec status goes, the slower it gets", totally ignoring my attempts to tell him that the NOTHING IS GETTING LOGGED.
The only diff, is my sec status +4.1

How to get a sec increase:
- Kill one npc within same system (will name it NPC#1) - wait ten minutes - Kill one npc within same system (NPC#2) - After killing NPC#2 you will then recieve the sec increase for killing NPC#1 - Wait a further 10minutes - Kill one npc within same system (NPC#3) - After killing NPC#3 you will recieve the sec increase for NPC#2
You perhaps know this, but no-one has clarified that they are going through this routine and still not obtaining the sec hit. I, therefore, thought it might be benefitial to post it to make everyone aware.
If you weren't doing this, then i guess it's why you havn't had an increase.
I hope this helps a few people out.

I have this problem on another account but not with this one.
On the other account i'm not getting an increase since i checked a few days ago, i've given up ratting untill it's fixed (bug reported it)

Mine was stuck. I shot at a can in a belt in lowsec to take a sec hit. That sec hit didn't show up either but when I killed some npc's again the next day it was going up again normally.
