Is there a way to run C1 wormholes solo with an alpha character?
If so, what ship/fit should work? (Gallente, preferably) All the guides I've seen so far require me to set up a POS in there (which is not exactly cheap) and the use of skills that are not accessible to Alphas (ie: advice is battlecruisers for WH stuff. Alphas cap at Cruisers)
Are you absolutely required to engage in combat with the Sleepers before you can make a profit out of wormholes?

Look for sites in C1-C3 class wormholes. You will not be able to do sites that have sleepers... those sleeper sites are essentially combat sites in all but name. The sites that have pirate faction names in them are unguarded. These sites will not spawn in c4+. |

Are you just looking to run exploration sites or do you want to kill sleepers in combat sites? If you're just talking about exploration (as your title suggests) then understand that exploration sites in wormholes come in 3 types:
1. Sleeper sites that require you to clear the sleepers before hacking the sites. 2. Nullsec sites that spawn in wormhole space. These function exactly like null sites and are not guarded. 3. Ghost sites that are on a timer. These are unguarded initially, but then explode after the NPCs show up.
The only ones you can't find in K-space are the sleeper sites, but most of the loot comes from killing sleepers. Don't explore in W-space just because you think the loot is better - it's not. If you're not killing sleepers, you'll do better in nullsec. The unguarded exploration sites are identical to those found in null and are the same in all classes of wormholes.
If you're looking to farm sleepers and run some exploration sites on the side, you can do that by day-tripping in a Drake (T1 Cruiser). An alpha clone should be able to run most C2 sites in a Drake once you learn how to do it. And then when you're ready, you can upgrade that to a Gila (faction cruiser) and run some C3 sites. YouTube is full of videos showing you how to do it.
TL: DR If you just want to explore, get a T1 exploration ship and go to null - it's easier and the ROI is just as good. If you want to kill sleepers in W-space, then get a Drake and do day trips to C1/2s. |

Oh, you're right. For some reason I was thinking it was a T1 cruiser. So, if you're an alpha, I'd go with a Gnosis or Gila. I've only used the Gnosis as a structure bashing ship for my alpha alts, but I've been impressed by the amount of gank you can get out of it. It looks like it could be shield tanked enough to handle C2s without a problem. Of course the Gila is hard to beat if you can afford it. |

You appear to be correct. I didn't know that pirate ships were on the no, no list. The Gnosis is going to be quite the alpha favorite then. |

To save asking you a tonne of questions, would you be able to refer me to a site where I can learn all this from as I am new to all this exploration and never heard of this c1 c2 c3 mellarky |

Ah...Well that's good indicator of your experience level. Trust me - you don't want to do wormhole sleeper sites if you're not familiar with wormholes. At least not yet. You want to focus on basic exploration for now. The Eve University wiki on exploration is always a good place to start. And you can peruse their entry on wormholes for answers on the C1, C2, C3 malarky. I highly recommend their wiki as a starting point for most of your questions on all topics.
In terms of progression, refine your skills in highsec, then go to lowsec and finally to nullsec. Feel free to explore in wormholes as well to get a sense of how they function, but the loot is identical to that of nullsec unless you're running sleeper sites in a well-fitted combat ship.
Here's another pretty good guide:http://all-out.github.io/guides/exploration-relic-data/ |
