I guess every PvP ship applies then since tackling gear is EWar.
I fly an Arbitrator, which has an EW bonus. It would be stupid of me to NOT fit TDs. The Arby's tank sucks and its EWar is almost its only defense, the thing is TDs don't care what your DPS is, only your tracking speed so even a gank ship will not break a proper EWar tank unless you can dual/triple web the EWarring cruiser. You add more ships than the EWar boat can EWar and it dies almost instantly. This thread is really about a 1v1, a situation which is semi-rare.
Now stop playing the game in your head with all the made-up rules of honor and manhood and start playing EVE Online. Thanks.

You can fit a tank on a caracal that makes baby jevus cry. I have tanked 2 blasterthrons and a hac for 30 secs with one before.
1 large tech II shield booster 1 SBA 1 med injector ( 800 charges) 2 invuln fields.

fitting a td on an arb isnt gonna upset anyone, least of all me; you just have to be quick at getting your drones out and rep like hell so you dont end up sitting there like a moron watching your cap being nossed away. its people that doubt their combat skills in a cruiser and go for the ecm option that get on my tree. besides, 1 td is never going to put you out of commission, once it cycles youre free to lock- unless you sit there like a tool.

my choices:
1- thorax (with approximately 15 different setups i hav in mind, all can be flown with less than 5mils SP)
2- ruppy
3- vexor (again, with about 10 different setups from the top of my head, all can be flown with less than 5mils SP)
with the mention of: tanked/nos maller, TD/nos arby, and well-fitted celestis.

I've never lost a celestis to another cruiser 1v1. I beat a thorax and rupture in point blank range on two seperate occasions. They were lucky to get that close.
I'm gonna go with Franconis on this one. Probably a rather different setup on my Celestis/Lachesis than on his, but it definately gets the job done - Bloody hard to shoot something you can't target, except for pre-launched drones and people with FoF missiles.

valerydarcy, you're a friggen idiot.
Tracking disruptors don't prevent someone from locking. And one tracking disruptor(especially fitted on an arbi) will **** up a turret ship.
As for me,
Arbitrator-uses broken NOS-drone capabilities, and has ewar too.
Vexor-second in line of the NOS-drone borefest ships.
Stabber-Most fun to fly, and a cruiser-sized tackler is simply amazing.

calm down son. i made a mistake in my post, i had ecm on the brain and that was what i meant. i know full well a td doesnt stop you from locking you clown, it reduces turret range and tracking speed- kinda given away in the name of the mod; so stfu. i was making a simple point that ecm is a noob tool in the context of 1v1's, and i did say that a td was completely legit, given the bonus on an arb. when i said '1 td wont put you out of comission', i meant 1 ecm- hence locking once its cycled. you on the other hand are being offensive for the mere sake of it. small d1ck or what?

Crying over the way you die to a 1v1 ship cannot be covered up by stating that ecm is a noob tool. You stated that TDs wouldn't affect you which is clearly wrong. You're arguing that a ship is less effective or at the very least guilty of using "noob" tactics. I'm arguing that you're wrong.
I didn't know there were official "legit" rules on 1v1s, I just thought the rule was "Don't warp out and don't bring in friends". I'd like to ban certain damage types like explosive so I don't have to tank them, because using explosive damage is a noob tool that people use when they think they're sheer character age isn't enough.
Learn to pvp.

i never stated there was any set way to fight a 1v1. no warping off? thats not a rule, thats called conceding. no inviting friends? if that occurs its no longer a 1v1 and therefore a pretty invalid point. all i said was that using ecm in a 1v1 is a pretty pathetic way of going about business, which it is- its cheap, its boring, it takes no skill and most of all its just not fun.
ive only ever lost one 1v1 (with regards to cruisers) and that was to an arb with 1 ecm fitted- kinda validates my above point. learn to pvp? what exactly are you trying to teach me here, id love to hear.

Thats a bold statement. A Stabber in the hands of a good PVP pilot is hard to beat. But a Arby can and will probley beat it. And a Decent Ruppy pilot with 1600 RT plate? Plus the Ruppy way out DPS a Stabber. Im sry i got off topic and im not trying to flame. Just that was a bold statement.

3) Celestis - Dual t2 damps/mwd: drone/rails.

Actually it's simple, since stabber never gets webbed if it's piloted by a good pilot, it can always get out, so it could never be beaten. (However if getting out means being beaten...)
You didn't specify engagement terms....
However, stabber doesn't have falloff bonus so rupture would do more dps to it.
Basically stabber wouldn't die to a rupture, but I don't see any way it could beat a rupture with equal skills.
It would be a stalemate - stabber burning out to 20km every time and waiting for shield regen, then going back in every time... By which time rupture will have repped it's armor...
And arbitrator / vexor etc is very easy with a stabber.
