Originally by: Buckyballs I think another option may be to increase the missile speed per level of cov ops or something like that. Many times I've been in a fleet battle and engaged from a cloaked position 90km off a gate and the targets get killed before my missiles hit or they see the incoming and warp off before impact. Due to the SBs paper thin defence, I don't want to get anywhere near the fight. Although they are made to take out frigs, a fast mover can close the gap pretty quick so I have to be aligned and ready to go.
I agree completely; I'd like to see the SB have the ability to strike more quickly from range. Watching those cruise missiles drift sedately toward their target drives me crazy. It gets to the point where I have to switch views to the target to confirm that my missiles are still moving...
What if SBs got 'quick burn missiles' as a role bonus? Their cruise missiles would gain a 100% bonus to velocity, but a 50% reduction in flight time, making the range no different than it is currently. If this is too much, then even +50%/-33% would help some. This bonus could be a flat bonus or could be tied (incrementally) to Covert Ops skill.

Its going to take those battleships over 20 seconds to lock you anyway, so as long as you only aim for battleships you should be able to recloak easily. Stealth bombers dont have covert ops cloak because, simply, the firepower they have shouldn't be allowed to enter a battlefield without being noticed initially.

You lost it's role - Stealth Bombers DESIGNED to enter battlefield being unnoticed before they actually start doing his work.
Right now I see SB niche very limited and usage of bombs looks most likely kamikaze action. 9 chances against 1 that You'll be killed and 3 against 1 that You got podded after bomb deployment.
Most of statements in this topic still right. Yes, SB's got "some" love. New bonuses (no targetting delay, damage bonuses) and 3 launchers makes his life a bit more funny.
But they still should sacrifice one midslot to sensor booster (and still loose at least 4% of his not so fast locking speed) and cannot use T2 fit without PG rigs and Co-Processors, which means they should use expensive named/officer modules with worse parameters but lesser fitting requiremets, makes already expensive ship twice, trice expensive. Right now my Nemesis costs about 70 mil with missiles only, while if I may use T2 fitting, it may costs not more than 30-35mil.
Yes, of course, it works extremely good while my tank keeping aggro, but when I got locked once in any future, that 70 mil toy will be destroyed in no time. And it only time-wise, how far that thing away from reality. -- . |

Even with the love SBs just received, I still feel they should be getting the cov ops cloak. Maybe restrict bomb launchers so they can't be fitted at the same time (if it's an issue).
3 launchers and damage boost are dandy and fine (bombs are too expensive to be mentioned, and their restriction to 0.0 deprives many people of using them at all), but uncloaked warping is plain stupid. This point remains valid even after the changes. ______________ Join the Family |

Yes, SBs must be realy stealth, little nasty hit and runners. Cov ops cloack, don't make them solo PWN mobile.

Bombers need the Cov Cloak and no, it wouldn't turn them into solo pwn mobiles :/ will allow easyer travel/Prep stage movements. Simple as that

Stealth bombers really do need cov ops cloak + they should have idiotic cruise missile speed bonus that enables a missile to fly 170km half the time as it is flying now!!!!!!!
stealh bomber is worthless at the moment and for all you say that it is okay at the moment - NO!
ps. cov ops cloak + faster cruises wont make it pwnmobile!!

Stealth bomber have gotten some attention since their introduction, and they were all raised to the manticore's lvl of one volley damage, however their current role as a stealth attacker is severely limited at this time. As the guys quote in the first post on this topic said "Nothing spells stealth quite like "Oh look, a stealth bomber warped in"". The only time a stealth bomber can really work in its role is when camping, which any person who has done so can moderately agree that mining can be more exciting at times. Giving the stealth bombers the ability to warped cloaked, wouldn't be too hard to do, simply you would just have to train cov ops to a lvl where you cloaking device no longer give you a speed penalty (thats about cov ops lvl 3 w/ a improved II or faction cloak). Even with bombs now in the equation it wouldn't make the bombers over powered for a couple of reasons, one; 16 mil a shot for an item that will 7/10 times will get you shot down, and 5/10 podded too, and two; it would only be effective vs small ships one on one, you still need about 4 to give a larger ship any real concerns.
Anyone else have any other thoughts on this issue? |

meep i fly stealth bombers a lot. While i would LOVE for them to fit covert ops cloaks... it would be entirely too powerful.
sensor booster and damps in mid. 70-100km engagement range. ballistics and overdrives in lows. a small squad of these is lethal.
if/when damps are nerfed I still think as a group they'll be lethal. and that's without thinking of bombs. -- Talking in Circles is more dizzying than walking in them...
