Thread cleaned. This thread is about the Bug Hunters wanting players who are dedicated to Eve, and want to give their spare time to the BH team. This isn't a discussion about the Devs/Cheating or CCP's corporate QA policies. ___

Maybe some current bug hunters can elaborate a bit on why it is fun or otherwise rewarding to be a bug hunter (and no i don't refer to financial rewards)? All I see here is "you must fit these requirements, apply, if we accept you you will find out what you actually do". I'll be blunt - if I had considered applying I would no longer do that after having reading this thread. Supply more information please.

I tossed an application your way a week or two ago and never got a reply. I suspect it's because my hotmail, with which I foolishly decided to test their "live beta" thing, is eating emails.

Ok, here come the (almost ) unfiltered words of a BH. I applied for the BH position, because i very much care about the game. And once i care a lot about anything it is just not enough to be along for the ride, i like to steer at least a bit. And that is how most of us feel. We like to help EVE to get better than it already is. We give our own limited playtime (or parts of it) to help out in ISD.
Our work consits mostly of filtering through bug reports sent in by players. Checking them, try to reproduce them and if that went well, make a defect for the developers or add it to an already existing defect. We also activly hunt for bugs on our own when we see something odd. Another part are sanity tests. Before bigger patches are released there is a huge list of checks to do. This is to ensure the patch does not break anything vital on TQ.
The rewarding part is to see that your work matters. When a patch hits TQ and solves a bug that you found/filtered/tested, or even if a patch gets delayed because you found some show stoppers. then our hearts go all warm and fuzzy Or going wild on the test servers with all the new stuff 1st
Also there are all the comrades in ISD. What unites us is the passion for this game. It is fun to talk and work with a lot of like minded people.
All in all it is hard and sometimes boring work, but totally worth it. If i wasn't in ISD already i would apply for sure. And i hope i could give you a bit of an inside view from a grunt. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Eliohann pretty much summed it up.
It can sometimes be long/boring, you might be a little short on time, but its a really satisfying feeling to get through a bunch of reports, or see something reported and have the tools to check it all properly so the dev's can fix it as soon as possible.
And, yes, it does seem to prove how fast the eve dev's are when you see something in the patch notes you know you reported :) It's a truely odd and warm feeling when that happens
The biggest thing you sometimes realise, is there is too much apathy with some people, you see bug reports that you think are already well documented, only to find out no one had actually submitted a bug report to us, so its great when you just keep hammering in the reports so we can arrange for things to be fixed.

And, as a member of ISD you'll be able to talk to me on IRC, how cool is that?
All kidding a side the Bughunters are a great group of hardworking people that help eve out far more than most know.

Quick question, I submitted an app last week, but didn't get an email or an evemail confirming receipt and haven't heard anything since. Can you just confirm that the app was received? Thanks!

I'll be a bug hunter if you let me test logging out every patch.

on a slightly related note; any questions sent to [email protected] (mail address stated on eve-bh.net) will be undeliverable as that contact doesn't exist. (sent a question concerning feedback about app there...)

We recently moved to another server but it seems to work now. Try again and if it doesn't work reply back here.

The ISD application actually stores all the info assuming you submitted it correctly. So the only thing you'd have to do is make sure everything is still up to date, and correct anything that's changed. Pretty simple.
