How would the damage type of directed energy weapons be changed?
How could beam weapons manage to do explosive? or even Kinetic?
Havn't you ever heard of Particle Beams? They use the traditional laser as a carrier beam for physical particles. Given that these particles could be so superheated as to engage in nuclear fission upon impact. Kinetic and Explosive.

I'd say that Gallente actually require the fewest skill points, drones are alot less SP to max out than guns, and Domi w/ drones + NOS + armor tank is very effective (no guns or missile skills required).
That's true, but it also means that Drones have a bit less potential and/or versatility of turret and missile counterparts - comparing the number of drone skills with missile or gunnery skills leaves alot to be desired, honestly...

You are right in some respects, but....
Quote: The general idea of particle-beam weaponry is to hit a target object with a stream of accelerated particles moving at near the speed of light and therefore carrying tremendous kinetic energy; the particles transfer their kinetic energy to the atoms in the molecules of the target upon striking, much as a cue ball transfers its energy to the racked balls in billiards, thus exciting the target's atoms and superheating the target object in a short time, leading to explosion either of the surface layer or the interior of the target. Currently, the materials for such weapons are "high-risk" and may not be developed for some time
Particle Beams would require mass, so they wouldn't be able to just use crystals, such as the current Amarr Beam Weapons.
Edit: If anything, Blasters could be considered a form of particle beam.
You make an excellent point actually...perhaps some new form of technological breakthrough allows the Amarr to retrofit their ships with reactors that can convert energy into mass, allowing specialized particle beams to function.
It'd be cool at least.
