I sold someone a wormhole that I didn't own and had never been to for 3 bil. It came with a faction tower, dread, and pocos. :) |

I wrote some vaguely interesting articles for themittani.com as their resident newbie when I first started. Due to excessive beverage, the payroll for the month was running a little late. The HR manager at the time sent me 100m to tide me over. They accidentally sent me ISK1b.
So, my first billion ISK actually came with a billion ISK debt, which I paid off, in full, over the next two months while merrily welping ships across RvB space and not concerning myself with mundane, newbro questions like "where will my next Maulus come from?"

Moved to null after two months in game and worked as a dedicated scout/bookmark maker finding paths through WHs back to HS. Made it through thank you donations from the industrialists in null who didn't want to do that work themselves. |

My first billion was grinding missions and ratting in null-sec. I think I made it specifically by buying regular ammo, converting it to faction, then re-selling it on the open market.

Mental vampirism iirc. When the extractors came on the market I removed SP from an unused alt.

Incursions back when they were doable in a battlecruiser and when I could've gotten a billion in like 6 hours.
It was also the main reason why I left the game. I've spent a month or two doing extremely exciting and dangerous things for some tens of millions of ISK (wormholes)... .and then I ran some utterly boring thing for 6 hours and I got money to plex 2-3 chars. Unfair. |

I did a lot of stuff on my way to my first billion. There wasn't a lot of big ISK items easily attainable back then.
What I finally settled on was camping level 1 DOD complexes for Dramiel BPs and faction ABs and MWDs. Not as boring as you might think, though. Plenty of fights as I wasn't the only one in there most of the time and it was a race to the spawn with lots of stealing and subsequent T2 frigate (the largest ship you could get past the gate) fights. And you didn't want to lose. That meant having to spend even more time farming keys to get back in to the complex again.
Simple times with simple pleasures. I look back fondly on those days.

While training up my scanning skills, I took a destroyer out and started attacking combat anomalies in hisec space, namely Hideaways and Refuges. I found that Hideaways would occasionally spawn a commander NPC, who on rare occasions would drop faction loot. Sometimes this was just a measly amount of faction ammo, sometimes it was a 10 mil faction power grid module, and very infrequently it would be an implant worth anywhere between 45-150 mil. I spent a lot of time in the Rookie Help and Help channels, finding that the chats helped to alleviate the tedium.
That got me about the better part of the way to a billion when I started getting bored of it, so I began scanning now that my skills were more up to snuff. I noticed some combat signatures called Hideouts and found that I could run them in a destroyer without much difficulty. Occasionally clearing these sites would send me on an escalation. If I was lucky, I would get every site in the chain of the escalation and would happen upon a commander NPC in the last site with some loot. One on such occasion the NPC dropped several faction modules totaling about 330 mil. That pushed me over.
In hindsight, I probably should have just done some exploration. Would have been more exciting at the very least. |

Isk is a score in a game. Unless it is used they are just digital images with little power of their own.
I am above a billion right now but I do not consider any of it mine as I emptied my wallet before I started taking donations for the Bus. On paper I look rich but in reality? Yeah I live on old assets from running missions and events in the past.
I did not set isk as a goal for myself in the sandbox, just the ability to do what I wanted to do.
I know, I am weird that way.

Ganking folk - especially haulers and feasting on that sweet sweet goo inside.
Seriously it is not hard to make isk. I never actually tired to make isk - if you just kill things and dont die all that much you will accumulate crap that you can sell. Hell the other day I was looking in one of my hangers and I noticed that I had 5 bil in crap - and I do mean crap - little bits and pieces of this and that, that are just not worth the effort to list for sale. I tried reprocessing some of it - but even that is too much effort. And as time goes on - boy of boy do you collect ships. Metas come and go - so over time I have collected shield ships, armor ships, ewar, logi, etc. . . most of which I never use because of reasons. So my advice to anyone who talks about making isk in the game is just relax - play the game the way you enjoy and iskies will come. |

Earned my first billion through trading many years ago.
Got back into the game beginning of October. Lost my 600M tengu because I shot the shields off a drifter battleship. Lost a little over 200M on a T2 ship roam. I had around 300M left and a freighter.
It was then that I dug up an old industrial spreadsheet I had and went all-in on industry. It took 2 months to get to 10 billion while I improved the spreadsheet. The next 10 billion took less than 2 weeks.

The first billion in one go was from flipping a Paladin. I got one with a buy order while the skills were in queue, decided I did not, in fact, want to mission bear with it, and sold it.
I'd gotten a stack of 200 Mining Laser Upgrade II blueprint copies a while ago. When the Alpha update dropped, Mining Laser Upgrade II started selling like mad. I'd put a few out in the middle of a lot of competition and waited a while. Then they sold-and I noticed I didn't have any more competition, so I stuck the rest of them out for about 1M apiece. They all went in one go, cause they were worth more in Jita at the time. I didn't have the skills to research more of them, so... that was the end of that.

Seriously, I got my first billion living in a wormhole. I was gas mining for the alliance I was in and we had one guy leave my corporation and he gave me 5b isk to keep the corporation running. Right after he left, pretty much everyone else left after that. The corporation fell apart and I went back to highsec. I held onto that 5b isk for over six months until I got a hold of him again. I tried to give the 5b back to him but he wouldn't take it, so I kept it.
And lost it all since I didn't budget myself like I do now. |

Made my 1st billion with mining. things where a lot different back then however so now a days I may elect to go about via ratting or exploring instead (neither where viable options at the time due to anomalies not existing the way they do now and data and relic sites did not have a mini-game yet). |

Found some low m-¦, high value items that you can get very cheap with buyorders in one part of the Empire and can be sold for double to tripple that price 20 jumps away.. And I don't have to cross the notorious systems like Uedama..
Doubleing you ISK with every trip summs up to a lot of ISK fast. But it doesn't scale without limited, once you bought everything you have to wait unitl the buyorder fill again. |

Awhile ago I bought 10 Armageddons with the intention of using them in pvp (as you can see by my lack of killboard, this hasn't happened yet, and yes this is my main). Back then they only cost a little more than a Harbinger, and had different bonuses. Then for a few reasons I didn't log into EVE for a few months. When I came back Geddons where running right around 200 mil if I remember correctly. |

Almost as soon as I joined a sov null alliance I had multiple billions of isk that I had very little use for. With an SRP covering all my combat losses, any PvE I did was purely for profit and a reason to log in when things were quiet. I could choose to not bother logging in at all because I didn't need to grind isk, or I could chase any content that just seemed interesting without worrying about it being profitable.
Ratting and escalations was my primary PvE until I got into exploration. Any losses I took were far exceeded by the loot I was selling, and I only had to haul it as far as our base in null and sold it at a discount to my corp to avoid moving it myself. Basically I was as lazy as possible and still made billions doing nothing more than casual farting around at any given content.
