Domi or Tengu? - for L4 Hi-sec with one caveat.
Caveeat: Don't have Sentry Drone Thingy skill at 5, so no t2. Apart from that I have perfect tanking for both shield and armor and engineering skills. Also nigh on perfect Tengu skills (used to use them for pvp).
I just like that the Domi is cheaper; Tengu is like twice the price. Or is there another recommendable ship? I don't want billion isk suggestions.
Will there be great difference in performance? I'm not a blitzer, mostly for chillaxing, so cleaning the pocket and salvaging and such.
Tried the Raven. Hate the damn boat. |

Both are perfectly workable. Not sure which is the better ISK/Hr (I would guess the domi due to HMLs being bad and HAMs being short range.) but if you don't care about that I would recommend a MJD domi with sentries as its easy and very chill. The tengu can require some effort depending on how you fit it. Also the domi is much less likely to be a gank target due to its higher EHP and the tengu having something of a reputation for shiny mods.
Not having T2 drones isn't as big of a deal as it once was. Although you will still want to get them as they do make a difference. |

faction sentry drones are pretty comparable to t2, you lose a bit of damage to the specialization skill, but gain a bit of tracking and a ton of hit points.
personally I don't really like the domi or tengu all that much, but of the two I think I'd take the domi. MDJ + sentries = afk boat. Although tengu with auto targeting missiles can do afk pretty well too. Either way I'm concerned about falling asleep while flying either ship.
Also you seem to open it up to other suggestions. There are a ton of options out there, and with pirate bs prices where they are you can be in pretty much anything other than a marauder for under a bil. mach is my favorite although leans to blitzing, although you can do full clears with it. Many like the rattler, but it has all the boring of a raven plus all the boring of a domi. Doing full clears might make it worthwhile as you have both weapon systems to deal with, but I always ended up afking with auto targeting missiles, sentries, and a mjd.

Either will work so long as you're firing at the right targets (kin bonused Tengu) but the HAM Tengu will be a much more 'active flying' boat so it'll depend on if you find the Domi too boring / passive.
For full clear if you're not going marauders then other options are: RHML/Cruise Barghest, RHML/Cruise + Gecko Rattler, Cruise + Sentry Rattler, Cruise + Sentry Typhoon Fleet, AC Mach, Nightmare or.. Apoc Navy? if you're in Amarr space and have T2 guns.
Basically tanking isn't an issue in Lv4s and if you're not blitzing or chasing Isk/h but doing full clear then anything with high DPS and Application will work fine.

Wow. I am pretty much maxed for that boat and can not achieve those numbers! Please post that "right fit!"

Tengu from the 2 choices, but as you have 2 race skills, why not use a snake. |

Snakes more expensive?
Would I be correct in assuming a Tengu would be better at DED sites?
I'd also like to see the 1070 dps HAM PVE Tengu with decent tank. I assume it is a deadspace fit thingy closing in on 1 bil? You can do a lot of pew for 1 bil which is time it has to be paid back... |

Wont be dead space unless you want it cap stable, you will also only get that with scourge, so not always practical.
You should go on the test server and play around. The snake is probably similar in price to the tengu. |

this is pretty much max tengu DPS eft says 1021 with reload speed included and 5% missile rof and ham damage implants. goes over 1100 without reload speed. all yours for only 883 mil! you can sub out the CN bcus for t2, which is something I probably would do as tengus are easy gank bait, although the dps falls to 962. a 2/2 split is just over 1000, and probably makes economic sense. this fit trades the rate of fire rig for range rigs. imo HAMs fire so fast I don't really want extra range on them, can lead to multiple volleys in flight which can become wasted dps. Built for guristas null sec anoms, so change the kinetic def mod out. I wouldn't go anywhere with a small sb on a tengu. The difference between the 4th BCS being faction or t2 imo is not worth the costs. Drop an em instead of Kinetic def for a better omni tank

^ This is pretty important, regardless of fits, where a Tengu is concerned. Due to the small sig any movement in a Tengu will mitigate tons of damage potential. It's partly why Chainsaw's example is so easy to replicate. So if you choose to fly a Tengu for missions, keep moving at all cost. Granted the Tengu can tank just standing still given its small size, its high native resists, and NPC's generally poor tracking speed, but speed is cheaper than upgrading your booster or slapping another SBA or hardener on. Think like a Macharial to some degree where speed and offense are part of your tank.

"----in' A, right?"
"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."
"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

I ended up going the dominix route. Truthfully it allows me to scan or do something more active on another toon, while sniping the mission. It does, however, feel a scary lot like mining ^^
Thanks for all the input. It's greatly appreciated. |
