"EVE Online is celebrating the Yoiul Festival, and you are invited! Log in daily to receive gifts for the next 12 days, starting Wednesday 14 December.

Log into EVE Online every day to ensure you don't miss out on any of the festive gifts!"
Well, I'd like to log in every day, but half way through the 12 days I get on a cruise ship. Out in the middle of the Pacific the only internet is the ship's satellite link, and its so slow they firewall off game like Eve. I'm sure I'm not alone. People with illness, deployments, and so on could miss one, a few, or all of the days.
Does anyone know if there will be a catch-up opportunity? CCP, are you really going to short change people who are going on vacation, or serving their country?

I believe it says somewhere that the "big" gifts on the 25th and 31st will be collectible until January 9th or thereabouts, so worst case you'll just miss a few of the more minor items but if there turns out to be something insanely great on the 25th then you should still be able to redeem it after you get back.

Yeah, I looked a the schedule, and I can get 7 before leaving, and the last will persist, so 8 of 12, worst case.
Also, although the ship firewall stops playing eve, it might let me log in. Yu only need log in to claim gifts, so maybe I can get them all.
Still, there is the basic principle of "real life comes first". I've even heard that CCP subscribes to this principle. For many players logging in every day may not be reasonable, or even possible, due to real life. Why should they miss out?

I remember a great christmas where all my family went on separate travels and i was a worthless artist working a 24 hour rotating roster at a toll booth. I worked xmas eve, day, boxing day, every day until new year's eve and they called me in on new year's day due to staff being too hungover to show up. Traffioc environments and alcohol don't mix well.
Being a worthless artist invites a life of friendless mockery and hunger means you can never say no to work, unless it involves you with people who are criminals or mentally unstable. Even then, poverty, defined as the inability to take part in your local culture in a normal way, is a stern motivator.
Luckily for me i don't get lonely and my self-worth and direction are internally resourced instead of externally derived.
Unfortunately for you, this situation where your life is so full that you have to choose between two good things is seen as a gripe.

I think it's less an issue of not being able to pick up EVE in game gifts but more a massive humblebrag about going on a cruise.
The servicemen bit was a bit of an unnecessary misdirection. As if when you are "serving your country" you are moaning about not being able to see digital fireworks rather than actually being worried about getting your face shot off.

The purpose of the gifts are to get you to log in (in the hopes that you will stay logged in and provide content for others), not to give you a gift "just because". When people understand that CCP is a for profit company rather than a charity that's supposed to 'care', those people will be better off. |

Honestly man, you're going on a cruise. Stop thinking about EVE and start staring at Bikinis and having many drinks on your temporary credit card.
I would kill to have an opportunity to take a cruise but I can't so I play EVE. Gifts aren't that big of a deal, they will come around again. But cruises, at least for most people, are few and far between. Enjoy it.
Also, People serving their country are likely not worried about EVE. They would prepare their accounts for not having access to it while deployed and understand that gifts will be missed. Or they're one of the lucky units that has unrestricted internet access and can still play EVE on their computers. Either way, not a big deal. |

I get it I don't like missing out on fun promo's either, but this is the trade off of Real Life with Gaming Life, if you don't want to miss out, don't go on the cruise....

As far as I can tell, Alphas also get the "rewards".
It would not be too late to plan ahead just far enough to pay a mate $5 in cold hard cash to install the client - or just copy the game folder across - and then get them to create an Alpha and log in once a day for 5 minutes to get the rewards, and after you get back, just pass them back to your full game account.
Totally legal and requires little effort.
Considering EVERYONE in the game is getting the rewards, also pretty sure they won't be worth much to buy from people that have no real use for them.
I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Personally, I look forward to gifts like the ones I got today. It shows that the devs have a sense of humor and it gives me tangible things to remind of events that I might otherwise forget.
For instance, I was putting them in my memento can and saw my Boots.ini (look it up if you are new) and it instantly put a smile on my face. For me, these things have more value than the skins and fashion that are now flooding the game to the point were I'm sick of looking at them.
But then, I tend to be kind of maudlin this time of year, so it might be just me that thinks this way.

Having no use for it because Caldari restricted, I open the market and see a buy order for 4 of those skins for 50 m ISK. I guess some collectors just have too much money. True story.

It would appear that this container would be impossible to open, if it was not already unlocked. It contains thousands of datacores packed with opinion pieces and news articles on events in New Eden.

It's not just you. I have kept every special item CCP has given me over the years - boot.ini, Alice Saki's Good Posting Guide, the five year Apothesis, etc.

The Lysus thing was a reference to the Coronation of Catiz Tash-Murkon I. During the ceremony, Lysus was spamming Amarr local about how Catiz shouldn't be Empress and all (Lysus and Team Kor-Azor lost in the finals to Team Tash-Murkon), and was warned by CCP devs or ISN or someone repeatedly until they made him go flashy and his Paladin turned into a killmail. |

Thank you. So far I've made over 100 m worth of money from the festival gifts:
- Vexor skin: 50 m
- Accelerator: 30 m (no, one day of faster training isn't worth that amount of ISK grind, considering that she can't do level 4s or anything of the sort)
- Bought a Merlin skin for 25m in Akiai... um... the career agent system, sold for 50m in Jita
This night another round of skin giveaways went live and the Moa skins which were going for 150-200 million ISK plummeted down to 50-60 over a few hours. Eve's economy is fascinating.
If only there was a word filter or something so that I could blanket squelch anyone who says "honest", "doubling", "sale", "quitting" or "PLEX" in the local chat.

I received couple of Men/Women's YC119 Yoiul Festival Caps (a hat, not an Capacitor item!) and a ship skin from today's gift box. However, I can't equip those caps on any of my characters on the character customization screen? Should it be possible though?
I received some t-shirts earlier and was able to equip them though. |

Well, I'd like to log in every day, but half way through the 12 days I get on a cruise ship. Out in the middle of the Pacific the only internet is the ship's satellite link, and its so slow they firewall off game like Eve. I'm sure I'm not alone. People with illness, deployments, and so on could miss one, a few, or all of the days.
Does anyone know if there will be a catch-up opportunity? CCP, are you really going to short change people who are going on vacation, or serving their country?

hey now, i am in jita local and i run teh only honest isk doubling and quartering service, it's not a scma adn i do exactly what i say, no rules, no lkimits, and you get 50% profits back nearly instantly rofl. |

The Venture and Venture SKIN was given out on the 24th I think - or was it 23rd?
The SKINs and Aurum are nice, Accelerator useful, the other stuff probably depends on wether you enjoy their self-reflective humor, which means for some they will be enjoyable, which is good.
When I logged into EVE last night to see what CCPs special surprise would be, I had the same feeling I had as a kid before christmas. Back then it was never about how expensive the gifts were, just about the overall excitement. It even mattered more if my parents like what I gave them, to see them smile about the little crap I came up with, made my day.
So the "special gift" was a Snowball Launcher. If my parents gave me a real life Snowball Launcher I'd probably had terrorized the neighborhood all the way through summer and if they gave me a 2nd one the year after, I'd be happy about it again. As an adult I'm happy to feel the same excitement for things to come, but sad that I can't feel the same joy to get yet another snowball launcher in EVE. Not saying it is total crap, but it doesn't make me feel like CCP cares about making me glow with joy.
On the other hand I didn't do anything to make CCP happy, so I don't deserve ****. Ungrateful little bastard that I am :D

"Cheap SKINs"... well, so what? That just says that you don't care about SKINs other than for their value in ISK. That's okay. I personally would prefer a new toy over some ISK. I wasn't around at the time, but imagine the first time the Gnosis came out a load of people were actually thinking: "What is this thing? It looks cool. It can do some things, but maybe nothing quite right. Only one way to find out!" No matter if ship, module or anything usable: I like presents that you can play around with.
