I am experiencing the same thing. Trying to launch evelauncher.exe directly from EVE\launcher directory did not work for me.
EDIT: Running updater.exe and/or fixpermission.exe (I ran both) resolved this issue for me, as well. |

I may be running the updater wrong. When I double click the file in the EVE directory, a small C prompt screen flashes and disappears. The same for the fixpermissions file. When I tried the launcher, I still get the same issues. Is there a specific way to run those files? |

had the same error on windows platform
running loglite.exe and then evelauncher.exe did not work, same error
running updater.exe also did not work (log shows invalid arguments).
running fixpermissions.exe then evelauncher.exe didn't work, same error,
added a new shortcut to desktop from folder containing eve. right clicked on the new shortcut and selected properties location\Launcher\evelauncher.exe added -d to the end so it read location\Launcher\evelauncher.exe -d and was able to download the new patch. With the basic launcher open with -d, i ran the normal eve launcher shortcut from desktop (opening a second instance of eve launcher) and received the error, but the launcher still opened, from there I was able to open the shared cache settings and run verify intedrity of downloaded files as well as fix permissions from within the launcher worked to fixed my issue. |

Just got this, verifying the integrity now.
It may be a coincidence, but this occurred for me after I had been playing for several hours and lost the connection due to a socket issue. For several minutes after that, I couldn't access anything on the eveonline.com domain. |

On Win 10, none of the fixes have worked for me. However, I can play if I want to, the launcher works fine I just keep getting the error. I've chosen not to play though cause I dont feel safe typing in my password until I fix this, even though I feel like its only a bug with one of the images on the launcher. |

This gentleman has got his poop in a group. Worked for me. (: you da man! The second run is important and only seems to work if the last fail is not interrupted. Now the question is do I close it and hope it will work twice, or just open the game and move on. (: Like Sheldon knocking on Penny's door three times, I must see the rest of it through.....lol

This server could not prove that it is creatives.extccp.com; its security certificate is from *.dental-directory.co.uk.
CCP should consider getting a new CDN provider.....preferably one without security issues. |

Short and sweet version to fix. * Right click the shortcut for eve launcher on your desktop * Add -d to the end of the shortcut * Run it. * Undo the shortcut and profit. |

Win7 64bit - same issue as everyone else.
Did the "add new shortcut to desktop for evelauncher.exe -> Right click on this new shortcut and selected properties -> In the location\Launcher\evelauncher.exe field added -d to the end -> With the basic launcher open, I was able to open the normal eve launcher shortcut from desktop.
Closed and reopened the normal launcher several times without issue. |

It's not a hosting issue, it's a local permissions issue (at least for me it was).
I chose a different install location for a recently downloaded launcher than the default C:\EVE, and got the same error message.
I wiped that folder and reinstalled the launcher to the suggested location, and it ran fine.
Windows permissions do have a tendency of causing weird issues like that... see if your problem goes away if you install the launcher in a 'free' location (not inside Program Files or Desktop or any user folders)

They broke the launcher so it can't update itself.
Delete everything from the game directory but the sharedcache folder (which actually has all the real game data), download the launcher from the website, and reinstall. It will ask about taking over the old cache, do that so it doesn't install another copy. Takes a few seconds to install and runs fine after that, no other tricks needed. |

In an effort to help open lines of communication surrounding this issue, I had sent a support ticket to CCP back when I originally posted. Here was the response:
Quote:Hello, Capsuleer. GM Shin is here to help you.
We are aware that some players are encountering a problem relating to an invalid certificate. The developers have been informed and are actively looking into resolving this matter. Hopefully it will not take too long. We sincere apologize for any inconvenience it is causing and appreciate your patience.
Thanks.
Best Regards, GM Shin CCP Customer Support | EVE Online | EVE Valkyrie
I hope this gives some of you some comfort in knowing that they do recognize the issue, even if they haven't seemed to fix it completely. Personally, I have been able to log in with no more issues after waiting a number of hours. I did not do any of those fixes as suggested by other players out of concern that this could have been a security issue.
I wish you all good luck and hope that this helps in some way or another. I'll check back later and post any more correspondence I receive regarding this, if any.
