Hi.
I can set my upwell structures as publicly accessible.
I can tax people for using facilities there.
I let the public to have docking access so I can subsidize a portion of the fuel costs with said taxes.
This also gives those people the ability to compress ore in my structures, and I have noticed many miners without available facilities doing exactly that. Using my station to compress ore so they can ship it five systems over and reprocess it. The guys in those ventures or solo t1 barges are gaining a massive benefit from my station by doing so.
The guy running their reprocessing station is benefiting from a free service at my station, which is actively discouraging people from paying reprocessing fees at my station.
I'd like to be able to set an ore compression tax at my station to encourage people to reprocess locally and solve this problem. |

Nevyn Auscent wrote:Or you could offer better reprocessing rates and then make the isk from industry taxes instead? The problem with Ore compression tax is it creates a double dip scenario.
What would really solve your issue would be an export tax. Rather than taxing the various individual stages, just tax based on the value they remove from your citadel.
Export tax would totally put everyone off.
The entire point of a compression tax is that it creates a double dip scenario. Either you reprocess locally because its cheaper than compressing or you pay compression tax or you get your own ships/facilities for compression.
Currently I have to set industry taxes at a competitive rate from local systems but can't gain any market advantage from being local to a system with more/better belts for instance.
If I could tax/control compression I could make it more attractive, for instance, for people to ALSO use my other indy services because they could avoid the compression tax, or, alternately, make a little side cash from people day tripping in to the belts etc.
As of now my options to curb this behavior all involve a wardec or completely cutting off public access to the station. There should be a middle ground there somewhere for more effective service market PVP. |

Give the access based on standing, so everybody who want to use it have to write you a evemail and they get rights for using the service. Otherwise the next question would be to set individual market taxes and so on. I would be okay with a docking fee (e.g. for every docking right or once a day). -1
You can already set individual player market taxes if you want to.
You can already set individual taxes for specific corps or even individuals for existing indy services.
This just happens to be the only service you can't tax at all. |

Rivr Luzade wrote:How will you make compression more attractive than 0%? In your blindness you ignore what already happened to markets in hubs: They all went to 0% broker fees because one guy started it to gain a "competitive advantage". So, with your compression tax, it will be the same. You will still pay fuel for your running service, they won't compress in your Astrahus because someone else in system has a 0% compression facility, they will still deplete the belts in competition with you, and you still cannot gain any competitive advantage.
The only thing you will create is more hassle. Same goes for Kenrailae's garbage suggestion to split Research/Invention/Production into different services.
Yet somehow people are still paying me to reprocess every day.
Proximity matters. |
