Also rich pirates could pod to their hearts content, then simply bribe CONCORD to get their sec status back up when they want to come to empire to sell loot or buy gear or whatnot. Alot of people are just as proud of their Outlaw status because it shows theyre not afraid of the consequences. Buying sec status would take away the consequences and make Outlaw status meaningless as well.

I'm not a huge fan of this idea, but as an outlaw, I understand the frustration. We're overly punished for our choice of play style as is. The speed at which its possible to raise your sec status in low sec empire should be increased, or the rate of security status loss should be lowered.

I would only agree if it was hugely expensive and if you can only get your sec status to 0.0 by paying concord. I think it's fair that way because then you have paid a debt and you still have to earn a positive sec status.

I have no problem supporting making it easier to EARN sec status, or making it harder to lower it, I'm just opposed to being able to BUY it outright - no matter how expensive its made there will be people who can afford to manipulate the system to give them an unreasonable advantage. ☼☼☼ Life's a *****, then you get podded ☼☼☼

Wow, I would kill for a 0.0 sec status again.. but that would just bring it back down again.
All things understood to work as intended I hate how long it takes to recover sec status. I learned now though, don't go pirate pewpewing until ye ready stay in one system! --- Your RIGHTS are a PRIVILEGE, don't abuse them.

payings too easy
id like to see missions in lowsec or 0.0 have a reward that increases sec status either:-
1. collect lp to trade against sec increase ; or 2. mission reward is increase sec status (e.g. mine 100,000 veldspar for +1 increase )

Well, I would support a system that allowed you to pay your way back up to 0.0 if you then add an incentive for having 5.0 sec status and such. Like, give people with a really high sec status a little discount on mods and ships etc. from CONCORD stations. Or make the sec status hit you get for killing ships and pods PROPORTIONAL to the sec status of the other person. i.e. a 0.0 killing a 0.0 gets little change, but if you kill a 3.5 then much bigger impact. Plus you could gain sec status from killing ships of -5 or lower. Not podding though, there should aloways be a fairly heavy drop for pod killing. I think that doing it similar to this would even it out, because at the moment sec status doesn't mean a thing outside of the inability to go to high sec without getting hit by faction police.

Perhaps the factions in 0.0 could help in way?
Pay the Blood Raiders, Intaki Syndicate, Sisters Of EVE etc to raise your sec status. That way you would have to risk your ship by going into 0.0. Probably it could go into more detail but thats the gist of it.

As was mentioned you used to be able to pay to raise your sec status. As you might expect this was rather thoroughly abused and even the most die hard of pirates had no trouble keeping their sec status high.
Raising sec status via ratting also used to be alarmingly easy. A few hours of 0.0 ratting and you were set. There were a number of times I got nailed by pirates with nicely positive sec ratings.
Perhaps a once a year (or every 6 months or whatever) "amnesty" whereby pirates could pay to raise sec status. Say 1 million per 0.1 rise. That would allow the reform minded to get back to Empire. If they go back to their old ways won't last long anyway so maybe not the best investment but at least an option.

Edited by: Boomhaur on 10/04/2007 22:54:51 This is what I do, I buy a dozen or 2 dozen donuts and upon entering Empire I throw the donuts out of the window of my ship. It distracts Concord and I usually get a Sec Status raise. Though one time I was cheap an used the day old donuts on accident, and well I dont want to tell you what happened after that.

Why not just double or triple the sec benefit you get from ratting? Or add another skill that would do similar. There is already one skill that adds +25%.

I like the idea of turning in LP for sec status increases. Means you can't buy 'em outright, and forces pirates to mission run (more than likely) in low sec. Thusly giving them a taste of their own medicine ;)
I've been atoning for my sins for a while now and am *almost* back to 0. I would definately have cashed in LPs for the sake of making this process faster.

100 mil per 0.1 would be nice but payment should go not to CONCORD, but to random killed chars
it would enforce more ppl to lowsec from both sides.
