Anyone else finds this sentence annoying? I have no problem with Aura's new voice by general, but I find this one line incredibly annoying. I hear it when I want to target something that's out of range, or when I want to loot something that's out of range - which is about 90% of the times, because I'm too lazy to click on approach, then keep looking at the distance, then click on the loot button when I'm close enough, and clicking on the loot button while out of range will make the ship go there anyways. Can we just turn it off please?
If you want an intelligent argument, please do, I'm up for it!
But if you want a trolling contest, I will win it by simply not participating.

This seems like a laziness issue more than an actual problem with the UI. Stuff like that exists so you're aware of the consequences of your input and don't accidentally try to loot something halfway across the grid and only realize you miss-clicked when you've burned for a minute or two. |

-- Helpful Gadget Somehow I didn't see that. By the way repeating a thread of the problem is just as annoying as this problem in my opinion.
Lugh Crow-Slave wrote:so stuff like this keeps dumb ppl from being dumb and irritates those with the ability to pay attention? It's already written on the middle of the screen. In case of the targeting it also tells me how far I am and how far I should be.

Why is this a problem exactly? People do stupid things in the game all the time, and a lot of PVP players like that for obvious reasons. And if you're halfway across the grid? You still can do what you originally supposed to: warp out and warp back to the loot. If you didn't forget to save the location of course...

I found the message Aura used to yell at me when I was warp-scrambled much more helpful than being out of range all the time.
By the way, you are not in range to execute this function.
Eve Minions is recruiting.

Yes, it sucks, CCP needs to let us turn it off. I used to have sound on and would hit the open button and my ship would approach and there was a message on the screen but eventually it would get close to the wreck and open.
Now there is this annoying audio message and most of the time I have to press the open button several times.

No to changing the message. Why?
Because it annoys people that need to work on situational awareness skills, and those who simply need to check distances before they click on something.
Because I like it, it serves as a wake up call and reminds me that I am being lazy and need to step up my attention level to what I am doing and the more demeaning, degrading and irritating the voice the better it serves this function.
In teh end why change it? Even if they changed it to what you want there would be someone else that finds them offensive or irritating and would then post about how they want them changed back to what they used to be. So my advice is to suck it up, take one for the team and just deal with it. |

I am soooo saving that post for future ammunition.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.
EvE is a PvP game. Stop pretending it isn't.

While we're at it, removing the automatic approach/warp functions would help a lot to make people less lazy.

+1 from me. Seeing and hearing this mesage every time I want to loot a remote object is getting somewhat annoying.
I would greatly appreciate one or more of these options:
- granular ability to disable voice for certain things, e.g. too far for this action - as above, but for the actual text message you get on screen
I understand the workarounds are to either completely turn off voice audio or to first approach and then loot. But they are just that, workarounds. Add to that, that if you add the option to auto-approach when out of range, it stands to reason that, after a couple of times of doing this, you've basically understood the concept and can do without further warnings.
Thank you. |

Dumb things people do should be actual decisions, not due to a fight with the UI. The UI is supposed to make it easy to take intended actions, this warning doesn't prevent you from doing anything and it's not even something you *need* to spam 90% of the time. You flat out say that the only reason it's spamming you is because you're too lazy to bother checking a number. |

The devs are off for the holiday. They aren't in range to re-execute their functions.
Wait till after Yuledrinkbinging is over and it will be fixed. Until then just make jokes about it, mute the voice if necessary.

It should have a delay before repeating, or it shouldn't repeat for the same exact input. Maybe I am intentionally trying to target something outside my range because I want to immediately target it as soon as it gets into range. I have my reasons. Aura needs to let off.

This game needs more ways to separate the lazy or those who are not paying attention and benefits those who actually look at and care about what they are doing.
Gadget and Iain Cariaba, it warms my heart and gives me great joy in this holiday season that I can annoy both of you to the point where the only comments you can post are about me. And thank you for caring enough to notice. |

My first post in this thread links to my thoughts on this issue. Check it out... if you're in range.
