Being evil is easy, but being good at it is largely down to using the correct tools for the job and is something that many get wrong or simply donÆt have a clue about. I thought it would be interesting for everyone to post their hangar ships and what they use them for, maybe at the same time learning from each other.
Well, here goes.... recently IÆve been investing all my isk (stolen from poor haulers) into the ships IÆve always wanted, sure many of them could be improved but that will come over time IÆm sure. Please donÆt flame me for posting high value ships... their value just reflects my obsession and skill at hauler ganking and desire to fly the best I can afford (I have only 100m isk in my wallet)
DRAKE
Possibly the greatest gate camping ship ever created, a gang of these mofos is any low sec travellers worst nightmare. When camping mine plays the part of the tackle ship as I have crystals to maintain the hardener free tank. We usually boost this ship with a couple of remotes sensors to ensure most ships AF and above die. Nothing more fun having maybe 3 drakes takes on tier3 BS at gates... itÆs a fun fight. (the 2nd drake we usually fit with a AB and webbys, with the 3rd doing sensor boosting)
Hi: 7 * Limos Heavy, Dim Nos Mid: 4 * Disruptor II, Sensor II, Large Shield Booster II Low: 3 * PDU II, DCU II Rigs: EM / Heat / Kin Shield resist rigs
CALDARI NAVY RAVEN
With maxed cruise skills the CNR becomes more deadly than a torp spitting raven and the DPS very close. With flexibility of switching to precisions itÆs one of the few ships I am happy meeting several HACs solo while tanking sentrys... I have fought 1 vs 1 against a torp CNR firing mjol and beaten it fairly easily, though that could be down to implants. (out of interest this ship is like having a normal raven with a 5.69 ROF)
Hi: 7 * Cruise II, Unstable Neutralizer Mid: F90 Sensor, J5 Disruptor, Boost Amp II, 2 * Inv II, Gist C-Type XL Booster Low: 3 * BCU II, PDU II, DCU II Rigs: 3 * Cap Recharge
CHIMERA
This is my mobile HQ. It hauls my stuff effortlessly through low sec while also serving as my æanti heroÆ platform. Got camped into station ?, undock the carrier and have some fun. After lots of experimenting and losing two cap ships to cap suckers this setup is designed for max survivability.
Hi: 4 Drone controls, Faction Smartie Mid: EM/Heat/ Kin hardener, Inv II, 2 * Boost Amp II, 1 Cap Shield Booster Low: 4 * Beta Cap Relay Rigs: 3 * Cap Recharge
ROKH
My bomber boat, designed from the ground up to kill the warp to 0 pilot, anything from a hauler pilot downwards beware. The first thing youÆll know about it is the lag on warp to 0 followed by your instant transport to clone station.
Hi: 8 * Faction Bombs (Dread / Shadow / Dark Blood / TS) Mid: 2 * Inv II, XL Booster II, 2 * Cap Re II, Remote Sensor for tackler Low: 5 Stabs of course Rigs: EM / Heat / Kin Shield resist rigs
BUSTARD
My alts ship of choice, heÆs the guy who spots you approaching my trap and scoops your loot when you die. Unfortunately he also is a magnet for people who hate me and my corp and dies at least one a week lol. We also use him for scanning tackled guys to work out ransoms.....
Hi: T2 Cloak Mid: Cargo / Ship Scanner, 10 MWD II Low: 5 * Stabs Rigs: None
RATTLESNAKE
My latest addition to the tiller fleet, she is setup for pure tank and fire support. IÆd love to have more isk to throw on fittings but itÆs already way over 2b and climbing fast. Certainly gets the heart beating in combat and last night she helped in taking down a hostile carrier (tanking 12-13 t2 ogres from a thant + sentrys easily). CPU / Grid is a REAL problem on this ship....
Hi: 6 * Arby Siege, Dim NOs Mid: Kaikas & 2 * Pith B Hardener, Electro Cap Injector, Boost Amp II, Gist C-Type XL Booster Low: 2 * BCU II, 3 * PDU II, DCU II Rig: 3 * Cap recharge

Why do you guys camp in drakes?
get a 2x t2 sensor boosted lachesis with 5 points *cough* Vigor is sexy *cough* and add a few tanked battleships.
Works wonders.
Ravens or laser boats with Scorch are very usefull if you camp minmatar gates.

probably because they're cheap and can passively tank sentries all day with ur thumb up ur ass. Snowy often camp gates all day long so not having to worry about boosting/repping must be a bit of a luxury.
also with a couple of sensor booster u can get an impressive scan res for those smaller targets.

Yep, you got it... if we are static camping a single gate we break out lachesis and hug, but drakes are easily the next best thing. Cheap and do the job very well while remaining highly mobile.... Every ship I own was paid for by ganking in a 75m isk drake. Jubbly :-)

You seriously need to get yourself an Instapopmobil aka Phoenix.
Nothing brings a tear to my eye faster than killing a totally faction fitted CNR in one volley. Other than getting a 21k damage hit on that very same ship
Also, something you may want to try on your CNR; Kaikka Siege launchers; you can pick em up cheap, and the fit isn't much more harsh than T2. I was slightly dissapointed with mine. I was promised 6.66s ROF. I get 6.65

6.65 rof on sieges is pretty devastating... what bcu's do you use to get that ?

I started doing it after I lost a Raven to 11 BOB dreads. In lowsec.
As for the BCUs, last time I checked, T2 and up to top end faction all have the some ROF bonus - 10.5%. The difference just comes in the damage bonus. Hitting that 6.65 is taking 3 BCUs & a 5% ROF implant

c-types are fine for pvp, 600m isk on 1 module is plenty enough for my humble pirate wallet.

Edited by: jimmyjam on 11/04/2007 15:29:57 I agree the drake is very underrated as a gatecamp ship.I use a drake allmost 100% of the time for lo sec piracy it locks pretty fast with sen boosters as well.

Heikki can take the credit for really hammering this tactic with his rather expensive tastes and as such several ppl have taken off it and done their own things like Tiller has. it takes a little skill to get it right but when you've got it down it's pretty mean.

lol we've had the same problem....
We've had scouts, hauler alts, alts, salvagers, loot scoopers etc etc all die in friendly fire incidents.
Very unforgiving smarties, once those F1 keys are hit it's game over for any poor bugger in range.
