I've seen this discussion over and over again, and it always falls on two camps:
1. CCP should do something to fix it - camp 2. STFU n00b go play wow, gimme jur stuff - camp (with all its variables)
personally I dont think CCP should fix it - like all the weird rules that people suggest (instant punishment from god-like concord, or closing down systems to corps just for playing in a style they like).
EVE is mostly player-driven, a fact which makes it appealing. as soon as CCP starts limiting a certain group of players to make it easy on another group of players, EVE will lose that appealing factor. And, while being player driven, player's actions and the entire mechanics of the game (economic, industrial, combat, wars, etc.) is tied to specific game mechanics and capabilities.
So MY suggestion is, CCP should come up with something in the game's mechanics that makes player-driven antipirating or policing something attractive, fun and profitable. just like we have corps that specialize in manufacturing, research, pvp, etc. And I don't mean merc corps...this should be something that pays "police corps" indirectly of who they protect. this way, it'll stay player driven and be even more fun to both pirates and people who hate pirates. So people would start coming together to form an anti-pirate corp, and they'd be able to make some isk from it. I'm no game designer so I won't put specifics...thats what we pay CCP for after all
In the meantime...you really just gotta adapt. There's no other way around it. Get an alt scout to go ahead of you, go over your low-sec route in a shuttle before taking your precious cargo, train gor blockade runners (which I hear got wtfpwned with the istab nerf), etc. Or if it's too much to handle, well, stop paying CCP and play a game that doesnt cause you any stress - It only makes sense right?
Oh, btw, yarr

If you don't like it there, there are about 5000 other solar systems which you can go for.
