This is a guide showing how to re-boot your computer using eve and some realtek on board sound cards.
Very useful alternative to ctrl-q as it's a bug and you may be able to get your ship back through a petition. Also, it erases all your settings, windows positions, overview settings and sizes ect.. ect.. so if you ever need to reset something to default it will work well there too. Best part of all is that you never have to worry about CCP fixing it, the ability to do this has been in since revelations and I personally haven't gotten a response to any of my 3 bug reports or forum posts:

(sorry for the shaky cam footage, due to the nature of the bug fraps won't work as the file is corrupt due to reboot)
P.S. I didn't know where to post this so I decided to put here as it is a video and a documentry.
P.P.S. I know this is post isn't exactly nice towards ccp and that it is basically an advanced whine, but if this is the only way I can get ccp to lisiten, so be it.

QFT thats messed up, i myself don't have an issue with the in-game audio however i have it turned off anyway.

Gah that sucks man :(
I just bought an 8800gtx. My old 7800gtx was a rock until it started having memory issues and corrupted random pixels and polygons and eventually just started crashing...
Anyway, my new 8800gtx is the flakiest mofo. At first I thought there was hardware problems, so I got a replacement. Turns out it is the drivers or something. I can't do anything else while running eve, or it hard locks my machine :(

1/ you never get a response to bug reports by design, and forum posts are not the correct area to discuss this issue therefore IBTL
2/ If you look Here a workaround has been posted by CCP so you look a bit stupid
3/ Knowingly using a bug for an advantage is called an exploit and can result in a game ban or warning

1/ Yeah yeah I know, but I needed some way to vent my frustration.
2/ OMGthankyouthankyouthankyou for pointing that out. However you will notice that the post was only made 4 days ago, 5 months after the glitch started. I have searched the forum's and other places for fixes countless times, but not in the last week. If this fix works I will delete my post (at school right now, will try fix when I get home).
3/ Using this 'bug' for an advantage is pretty stupid considering it does the exact same thing as ctrl-q. The 'use it as a exploit' was intended as sarcasam.

And once again CCP fails to solve the problem. But at least they know there is a problem and are trying to fix it.
From the Microsoft patch page:
Install this update to resolve an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel may not start after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008).
This is a fix for the realtek HD audio center...which has little to no effect on eve. Although the patch did let me run RTHDAC (I never used it before), it's being open or closed has no effect on eve crashing.
Now I get to go back again and reset all my eve settings including any personalized overview presets I had.

Ugh, I hated that thing, almost made me quit eve when I first started :/
