well as an alpha you got two choices as you're locked to caldari pick the one with the biggest cargo hold, add cargo expanders and away you go.
dont put too much in the hold though or you will be shot in the face and robbed

Since you are Caldari, your choices are the Badger or Tayra. SInce cargo space is you preference... well... then it is the Tayra.
Fill the low slots (4) with cargo expanders (II).
Rigs? Oh yeah.. we need us some rigs.... so add 3 medium cargohold optimization I rigs... oh yeah
nice
nice and sexy
so much space
let that cargo fill you up.....
more... mooore... so big....
Me love you long time with over 36670 cargo!

In EVE, there is no "best."
Every ship has a certain specialty or "gimmick" and different ships within that specialty / "gimmick" have pros and cons.
The same will be true of any fitting you devise for a ship. It will be an exercise in "tradeoffs."
Do you want more cargoroom? You will have to sacrifice speed and defense to get it. This makes you VERY vulnerable while travelling the stars. (note: And no, you are not "safe" even in High-security areas... "suicide ganking" is a legitimate tactic)
Do you want more speed and defense? You will have to give up cargoroom. This means you cannot carry as much as you want if you value the safety of your stuff.
In your case (because Alpha Clones are locked to a single race)... you have a choice between the Badger and the Tayra. One is built for speed-defense, the other is built for sheer cargo capacity.
And yes... even the more capable ships that you can get as an "Omega" (Blockade Runners, Deep Space Transports, Orcas, Freighters, Jump Freighters) follow the same paradigm. And they too die if fitted, used, or are piloted incorrectly.
How did you Veterans start?

I would recommend the smaller versions of the racial haulers since they are faster and tankier, unless you moving lots of cheap stuff and really need the cargo space. Also for alphas, Gallente lineup is propably best since theres specialty haulers for planetary and mining stuff. |

If you're locked into a particular race, the top hauler is pretty obvious.
Tayra for Caldari, Bestower for Amarr, Mammoth for Mini and Iteron V for Gallente.
If you're asking what race to pick for hauling... I would advise Gallente. While the Iteron V doesn't have the biggest cargo hold... it's competitive and their 3 specialized haulers are very useful.
The Kryos has a 43K mineral hold, the Epithal has a 45K PI hold and the Miasmos has a 42K ore hold. Those can be very useful. |

The bigger haulers I would only use to haul inexpensive, but large items like ore.
The smaller haulers, when fit correctly, can move like a Destroyer and be tanked well enough to survive a Tornado's volley.
Or..... use courier contracts.

dont put too much in the hold though or you will be shot in the face and robbed I'm confused I'm gallente and started as an alpha clone 2 weeks ago? so you will be locked to the gallente line of industrial ships as you can only train the gallente industrial skill on a gallente alpha character. The person who asked the question used a caldari character so they will be limited to caldari industrial ships. That said it could have been an open question about starting a new character specifically to haul which imo isn't really worth thinking about too much as you probably shouldn't be hauling all that much.
