Last night a corp member of mine told me that there is no way that a Sleipnir could beat an Eos (assuming properly fitted on both of course). I have read a lot on these forums that suggests that both ships a pretty special. As someone who is due to complete my skill training for a Sleipnir this evening, I would very much like to know what more experienced players on here have found.
If anyone has a could setup that will take down an Eos, then that would also be appreciated

"Properly fitted" is a term thrown around way too much. There are many good, even great fits for both ships. Now, a well tanked eos would likely tank a sleip, and if it had 3 nos in the highslots, it could also, probably, tank the sleip forever. However, if the Eos fitted for, say, gang warfare mods (Mmmm, it is what the eos is supposed to do) and has some cap relays in the lows, then, obviously, the sleipnir is likely to beat it. On the other hand, if the sleipnir has a respectable tank, it is unlikely to break to the 500 - 600 dps a regular eos puts out. ---

Edited by: Pottsey on 13/04/2007 09:48:47 1v1 an Eos can pretty much always force a draw. As a passive tank it can be strong enough so no other ship can hurt it 1v1. But chanceÆs are it cannot hurt or stop the other ship running away.
Pretty much anytime you get a fleet command ship v fleet command ship itÆs a draw.
The best way to take down a command ship is to bring freinds. Then again by definition a command ship shouldnÆt be flying solo.

A sleipnir could probably beat an eos, provided it didn't run out of ammo. You'd likely have to stay out of web/nos range and pelt it (and its drones) to death, as most Eos setups i've seen are lame nos-heavy things that wouldn't break a sleip's tank outright. I'm not sure if a sleip could beat an eos' tank with barrage, however... ------ Currently stationed in Iraq, 280 days left to go! http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0701/audzealotiniraq.jpg

Edited by: Ryysa on 13/04/2007 10:32:23 Speed fitted sleipnir can kill dual rep eos if it brings a LOT of ammo.
However, as pottsey stated, if that eos happens to be running passive shieldtank, you might as well not bother.
Let's put it like this - in a situation of Eos vs Sleipnir assuming both pilots being competent Eos can not win, and Sleipnir can not lose.
A stalemate is possible, however Sleipnir either kills the eos or forces a stalemate. N.F.F. Recruitment - Killboard Mirroring tool |

I think a blaster - mwd -dual rep Eos that somehow manages to get within web range will finish matters before the sleipnir can slowly get out of web range but that assumes an initial error from the sleipnir pilot of course. Command ships shouldnt be valued as one against the other really but if you have to then I would say its pretty much the same as a Vagabond v Ishtar fight only a lot more protracted... more or less. Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

waring: off topic
I have tested this with my vulture (faction active tank w/ t2 blasters ftw) and i havent found ONE single ship in this game that has been able to break my tank, and i dont do it passive. Only thing close was a t2 neutron Blasterthron with t2 heavy drones.(tested all cmd ships too, and none was close) Ok, i havent went up against a seige mode revelation yet, but will try it this weekend, though i tanked a seige mode phoenix pretty good.
Eos is kinda the same, and the damnation too. they might not kill everything (well, a skilled Eos pilot will V.v) but they sure can tank everything 1v1.
I know the sleipner is a fierce PvP ship, though i have always ended up on the same side as them, so no idea of their firepower. But i heard they can do pretty much anything in game (speed tank, amror tank, sheild tank, long range, short range, gank).
To the op: I guess that a speed tank is your best try, keep yourself outside webb range, and just wear him down, eventually, he will die(if not passive tanked) and if you have problems just turn the other way and warp off. If you wanna take your chance go in close and gank him, might work but ALOT more risk in that.

Tried, it doesnt break me with dps, it breaks my cap EVENTUALLY. packs about 20 800 charges in cargo + my dear booster drains almost next to nothing in cap, i can boost myself from 0 to 100% shield in 15% cap (takes about 20 seconds) without injector. so being NOSed isnt that much of a problem.
Add the fact when i run out of charges, my dear friends would be there. AKA dead Nosdomi That is if i count on a realistic fight, as i dont go solo that much (NOS needs nerfing anyway)

That's all beside the point.
It's logical you can tank 450 drone dps until your cap is out.
And if you fitted for passive tank with passive hardeners you could just laugh at domi :P

Well yeah, you can tank until your cap is out.
But it takes a very long time for the cap to accualy run out, and if the nosdomi doesnt have brains and run all his NOS in one go, just fit 400 charges and laugh at him too.
But then, NOSDOMI > All ships under capital class and their setups in eve.
All we know now is that if you can outwear your enemy, you will win eventually, so thats the tactic the OP should try against the eos, gain alot of speed, keep outside NOS/webb range, and finish his drones first. Then you will take him down, EVENTUALLY.

Thanks for the advice!
I probably should have elaborated. I think what my corp member was actually saying was that his Eos would make toast of my Sleipnir. It seems from what is being said here, is that is highly unlikely! He even went so far to say that his Ishtar would also give the Sleipnir a very hard time too(stopping short of saying it would actually win!)

well, eos is very slow and ******ed, so beating a CS from race which is built for speed it very though.
Only way it can beat sleip is, that sleip pilot makes a mistake and comes into 12km orbit or closer, unless if he doesnt have faction web.. Once sleip is webed is pretty much dead, but until he can have transveral velocity 1km/s or higer, EOS cannot beat him and i'm pretty sure, that eos cannot tank him either with EANM II, DCU II, EXP Hard II and dual rep. sooner or later, eos would ran out of cap charges, while sleip wont get hit anyway for that much. heavy drones cannot catch him, or he simply shoots them while they follow him, and he can tank medium drones. Eos's blaster cannot hit him at 15km or 20km, while sleip can dish pretty good dmg at 15km..
so, sleip is death bringer for eos or astarte.

If both are equally skilled pilots...it'll be the most boring fight ever. No one wins. The Sleipnir will orbit outside web range if he has a brain, and go for drones first. The Eos will go on rescooping drones whenver the Sleipnir shoots the its drones.

since most fights happen close to gates or stations the eos will simply mwd back to the station/gate since the sleipnir doesnt have a web. and if by chance the fight happens in the middle of space the sleipnir will win if he has enough ammo

Aye. The Eos can use 5 webber drones to slow the Sleipnir down enough for the Eos to get it's own web on it, then recall and unleash Ogres. Then it comes down to whoever has the most cap charges.

too many variables, as said the ships are on a par, will therefore depend on pilots skill and setups.

Works real well, I have downed a sliepner 1 vs 1 that way, as well a astarte and nighthawk. I have cs 5 so i usually carry: 5 ogre 2's, 4 webbers, 5 mediums and 5 scouts And Ive tried a few setups and I seem to like the nosos setup. 7 medium nos (I think I can fit 7, that or six not sure) mwd, webber, 2 24k scrams, sensor booster 2 medium reps, eanm 2, dc2, explosive 2 2 nano pumps
works well for solo action. Anything besides a domi you can pretty much tank forever as long as you have cap to steal. And if they have no cap left well you probably know the answer to that one.

Also, if you have speed fitting and don't have webdrones on the overview you deserve to die a terrible death.

you would **** up the rest of your fitting and your setup will be too situational
that being said the drones would still be too slow

Web drones would only let the eos escape. Sleip pilot would notice their launching, lock and pop them before he got too entangled. ------ Currently stationed in Iraq, 280 days left to go! http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0701/audzealotiniraq.jpg

Actually its not a bad fit. I mean, it'll tank anything most l4's will throw at it, and the dps using gardes is pretty ebil. Just sucks they caught me when I was tired and travelling home, I managed to warp to the wrong gate with 5 kia bs there, then realised I was -5, THEN jumped through the gate...yeah, stupid 4 hours sleep in 4 days due to excessive eve-playing = death ---
