Basically...
The Prowler and Viator are about even (with the Prowler having slightly less HP) and have the most "balanced" stats.
The Crane is slower, but has more base cargo room.
The Prorator aligns a bit faster with lower skills (due to having more low slots), but has the lowest base cargo capacity. Interestingly, the Prorator has the most cargo capacity when fitted with nothing but cargohold mods and rigs).
I personally chose the Prorator because I prefer having more cargo space. The Covert Cloak gets me past pretty much everything in low-sec outside of a dedicated gate camp... so I am not terribly concerned about align time.
Though... if you want to venture out into null-sec or wormhole space I would recommend the Prowler or Viator. Their base cargo room is reasonably high when fitted for max alignment.

Max capacity with cargohold expanders is the viator not the prorator.
Viator also can hit sub 3s align using just the lows (meaning you can use cargo or hyperspatial rigs for multiple fits) and can fit an adequate shield tank whilst still having an MWD...
Basically its untouchable as the best one.
Cloak
Probe launcher (optional, highly recommended for WH)
50MN MWD
Adaptive invuln II
EM field II
Inertia Stabiliser II x3 or Expanded cargohold II x3 (generally I dont use the cargo fit unscouted)
Cargohold optimisation or hyperspatial rigs (I have T2 cargo rigs cuz you never know when the extra space is needed but hyperspatials work too if you want to make a habit of outrunning hostiles - not recommended)
but what would I know, I'm just a salvager

I have flown the Prowler and Viator.
The extra cargo in the Viator makes it my favorite.
If I was going to own, and skill just one, Viator hands down. |

my fuel truck Viator looks something like this:
Highs: Cloak, Covert Cyno
Mids: AB, MSE, Adaptive Invuln.
Lows: Cargo Expanders.
Rigs: Cargohold optimisation II x2.

It might let you survive an extra smartbomb or two, but other than that, probably not. I run unbonused ECM on mine. Sure its not likely to save me, but it might.
Honestly if you are at the point that you are counting on a tank or ECM to save you in a blockade runner you are pretty much already screwed. |

I use the prowler as it has a smaller sig (shield extenders undo this a bit) which gives you a tiny bit more chance of getting into warp before you can be locked if for whatever reason you can't cloak and if you are moving a better chance to mitigate some damage from an alpha strike from larger weapons. |

You wanna fit buffer tank because people like to sit at gates/stations in highsec and insta pop blockade runners, who arent using buffer tank ;)
