If you get with 2,000m of another object / ship you are decloaked, does this also happen if you get within 2,000m of another cloaked ship? (without knowing it obviously) ___________________

I'd assume so.
It would be a hilarious getting caught with your pants down moment though

Not quite as funny as crashing into something you can't see! ___________________

no it doesnt work, you must decloak first to uncloak a cloaked ship otherwise you can just sail on past them

You don't actually have to make a point if you get enough people to laugh with you.

So its actually possible (albeit unlikely) to crash into another cloaked ship? Or do you just pass through each other none-the-wiser. ___________________

I actually have to disagree with the above posters. I have been decloaked by a cloaked ship.
My wife's Cloaked Cheetah decloaked my Rapier one night when she did a warp to 0 on me.
I will have to test it again tonight, it is possible something else decloaked me.. But I really don't see how, since we were at a safespot.

none-the-wiser i believe, i pilot a pilgrim in a stealth team and we quite often fly into each other in safe spots and nothing much happens

lol too true, we had a cloaked Archon sitting 30km from a station once, it was hostile and someone bumped it accidently... needless to say he had to change his underwear.

I don't think it has to be cloaked to be scary! ___________________

Usually yes.
I say "usually" because there is a bug where you dont ALWAYS get decloaked when you should. For example, if you are traveling in a covert ops and doing warp to 0 to each gate while cloaked... at least 2 or 3 times out of a 10 gate trip you will come out of warp right next to the outgoing gate but not decloak. You will have to manually decloak before jumping.

This person has no idea how cloaks work. Ive personally witnessed 2 force recons decloak each other because they both warped to the same point while cloaked.

Now why would I get married and still use the "shieldbooster".. Doesn't that defeat one of the perks of marriage?
Already got my 5 light drones, that BPO is offlined.

They do both decloak.
Now as a little explanation. From my experiences.
There are two ways distance is measured in EvE. One way takes the sizes of objects into account, and the other way does not.
Basically, the distance you see on overview tends to compute the distance from you to the closest edge of the object. (Why you don't have to be in the centre of the gate to jump). Which makes perfect sense.
However, when determining whether you should be decloaked, it treats all objects as points in space, so it calculates your range to the centre of the object.
So that's why the confusion... I am not quite sure about how stuff with ships is calculated and how it affects cloaking.
I will test later with freighter+rapier :)
