Today i had to go afk in a deadspace mission, just before downtime, my drones were still hammering at the last battleship in the pocket, i'm not sure if they've killed it before dt or not, but when i returned, dt had commenced and i was thrown out of the game, now i'm not sure what happened to my drones, have they returned to bay, or will they remain sitting there?
Because if they remain there, they will be shot by the deadspace rats right? If that happens, is this petitionable for reimbursement?
Not that i need that, as they were only worth 2-3m max or so, but still, what will happen to them? Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) Noes not again =( |

You will warp off, your drones won't return to your dronebay and the rats will kill your drones. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many

You didn't call your drones in before DT. If anything happens to them it's your fault so not petitionable.
Wether they live or die...seems to be down to the rats. I've had crashes in the past and i've come back to find drones either all dead, sitting there waiting for me, or they have finished the mission for me.
Hopefully you'll be lucky.

Do abandoned drones even survive DT? I thought no.

Abandoned drones are permanent, they do not disappear at dt or anytime ever. You can occasionally stumble across some drones in deep space that someone has abandoned doing a mission or something. Very rarely they may even be worth the price of the probe(s) to track them down.
Whether the rats kill your drones when your ship warps out is uncertain in my experience, you need to go back and look. Sometimes if you have to warp out for one reason or another, the rats seem to leave your drones alone as soon as you are gone, sometimes they seem to kill them. I wonder if it does not have to do with whether you had aggro on your ship or on your drones but that's just my guess.
If the system shut down before the NPC was dead, the NPC will have gone away. He wasn't going to be shooting your drones during daily downtime.
But these are not your question. Your question is just had the NPC won or lost the fight with your drones while you were afk before downtime even arrived. If your drones lost, they are gone. If they won, they are there as drones do not disappear.
When the system comes back up, the deadspace will be rebuilt (if you did not report the mission complete or failed and it did not expire). But if your drones survived, they will now be inert unowned drones and they would not be attacked by the NPCs post startup no matter what. They are now just scenery. If you go back in you can pick them back up at your leisure.

Interesting, A while back (3 or 4 months) I did a test, I went to a safespot and launched some drones and left them there then went to bed, the next evening after work I came back to see if they were still there and they were gone, so I had assumed that they were wiped out at downtime... Now I am not so sure, maybe someone probed them out and stole them haha Onoez!! I posterd with an ALT!??!!??? |

I picked them up, filed off the serial numbers, and repainted them in company colors. Nice drones
Abandoned drones are like abandoned ships, if you leave them, someone will pinch them from you.

No doubt. I'd like to say thanks to whoever left a set of Hammerhead II's in a belt a couple weeks ago.

Ha ha. I, too, have quite the free drone collection. Never got a full set of Hammerhead II's though. Lucky you.
