Afaik there's been no offical word if this bug is being fixed. What I want to know is will our corp get our items back or not. If we don't then EVE will be minus another 6 accounts in the next day or two. We see no point in continuing on when everything we have worked for can vanish with no trace.
Please CCP, tell me its being sorted out and everything will be returned in due time.

I hope you are right loladoll.
BTW while speaking to you, I would like to order 12 red roses. Can you deliver them to Tank CEO pls?
I'm sure he would love them.

Yesterday GM Arkanon showed up in help to give some nice words concerning the trade orders - he collected some info where most tradeorders got lost (most were Verge Vendor and Heimatar) and said he will forward that to Helmar for further investigation. Further he said that the Problem is an important one and the items will be returned if somehow possible. Finally he added that he can be quoted on this - so I did ..

Thanx for that Ertai Vodalion, but 'somehow possible' surely doesn't sound good to me or a lot of others. I had around 2 pages of sellorders diveded on 2 chars worth about 400+M (at the time I made them) and I can only recall what I had for about 50% of them :(

Surely they must take occasional backups to DAT Tape. I have faith this will come back.

Why is it taking so long to have an official announcement on these boards?
This is a serious problem.
Two players I brought to this game have gone. Thier accounts expire this week and they aint gonna renew I asked them to wait it out in a hope they get their items back, but the silence comming from CCP has made the descion easy for them. What's the point of working towards a common goal just for it all to be taken away from them by a ******* sell order bug?

The reason it is taking some time is that many of the Dev's are probably on vacation with their families. There is an obscure holiday in the western world called christmas and many people there like to take time off to be with their families and comtemplate whats really important in life. Obviously the Dev suffer under the misguided notion that they are allowed to do the same instead of spending the holidays tending to an online game. I mean their families don't need them like we do.
Meh
PS Anybody who leaves a game because of one bug that will be fixed after the holidays we are better off without. PPS Anyone who didn't think there would be some problems over the holidays after a patch we also can live without.

If you had 1/2 billion worth of sell orders dissapear with no trace and then have NO official word from anyone that a bug even exists let alone is being fixed (or is scheduled to be fixed after this 'western holiday' of yours) I'm sure you'd be a little p!ssed off too.
As for the 2 that are leaving, subscription ends December 30th and they aint gonna pay another $35.85 x 2 for the pleasure of weatching another 6 months of their time and effort vanish without a trace.
Hopefully if things are sorted out after the holidays, they'll reconsider.

Dude! Wipe that stuff off your nose!
Expecting value for the price you pay to subscribe/play is not unreasonable expectation.
The market abortion is just another example of castor not being what it was puffed up to be.
Expecting to have your goods on the market, or at least returned to your inventory is again -not an unreasonable expectation.
What is unreasonable is to have to experience it now since Saturday...without any clear resolution in sight.
Mommy and Daddy must pay for your play time... because anyone else that works for a living expects value on any purchase they make... whether it be $5 or $1000....

Couldn't have said it better myself.
It amazes me how many dim-witted people post on these forums saying this game doesn't need another couple of paying customers who don't have the patience to wait for fixes etc. This game needs EVERY subscriber it can get! Its not rocket science - lose paying customers - CCP loses money. When CCP start losing too much money, say goodbye to this game we all love.
1 or 2 players leaving here and there may not sound like a lot... but they all add up in the end.

Of course everyone expects value and for the relatively low price per month of this game I get great value. I have lost standing and Items including battleships to bugs, CTD etc. That however has not stopped me from enjoying the game as the game is not the mindless accumulation of meaningless crap to me. Perhaps one of the progress quest games might be better suited to you. Not to mention that more than likely all the orders will but put back on the market and people are just acting like little children because they want their lolly. Only an idiot would expect for Castor not to have problems given the scope of it. As for the assumption that I don't have orders missing you are mistaken but you probably are often. If you feel that you aren't getting your $12.95 a months worth then leave. There are plenty of people who think they are. Being concerned is one thing, having a tantrum is quite another.

I have a car that would be perfect sale to you. It has no tires nor an engine...but the radio works fine.

I dont see any of the prior posts asking for anything irrational. I see peeps asking a simple request. They would like to be advised where their "stuff" is and what is the status. They also go as far as to provide that if a simple request cannot be fullfilled, they would be better off spending their money on a product that can offer these things. How can you equate that into a childish rant?

One might make the resonable assumption that is what the Test Server is for. Dumping a Beta on the masses and expecting them to be happy...is a tad unrealistic. Most companies have the forethought to plan ahead. Why patch an unproven/untested product prior to everyone leaving for the holidays?

When you pay my bills, or everyone elses bills - then you can tell me/us what to do with our money. It's easy to tell peeps what to do with their money when mommy and daddy are paying your bills.

Hmm you seem strangely fixated on my Father and Mother. Rest assured that they do not pay my bills and have not for many years. However even if they were it wouldn't invalidate my opinion. Nor would it justify your seeming dislike for young people and students. Simple requests are of course perfectly logical. It is also logical to expect it to take some time to have the problems fixed. It is not logical for people to threaten to quit when a problem is not magically fixed in the blink of an eye. I also agreed that they would be better off with a different product so you have no argumant there. Most people who have spent much time with computers and games know that even with extensive testing bugs are going to happen. Just go to other game sites and look around. Horizons would be a good example. I never said you had to leave. I was just agreeing with you when you said you expect value and you didn't want to pay if you didn't get value. Well it's obvious that you feel you are not getting value so logically that means you should leave right?

Calm down a bit ppl, lets get back to the topic, just waiting for a dev/GM to give me/us some answer on this and we all know it's a lot of holidays atm..
On a side note, this is why I think big patches should never be released just before long weekends/holidays, but they will learn as many other game-devs before them

From the Dev blog: Disappearing market orders update.
We want to let everyone know that the disappearance of sell orders and the items they represented in certain regions is being investigated by CCP. This matter will be given the highest priority and we are hoping for a swift resolution to the matter. However, as this requires serious database work, we can not confirm when the repairs will be completed. Rest assured that we will do all we can to return the items lost to the rightful owners.
Customer support would like to request that you do NOT submit any further petitions regarding this matter until further notice. We will notify you if petitions are required as soon as the investigations and repair work are completed.
Thank you very much for your patience in these trying times. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |
