For me both are quite equal tbh:
I tested my sleip with friends abso few times,
was at lvl 4 for both of us and it was comparable fit plants and rigs,
the only diference he had tackling gear and i got only 20km scram.
we got eachother to structure at the same time.

Thinking about it, I would say sleip has better DPS. Abso using Conflag has better dps than sleip using barrage when fighting in fall-off, but if hes at 20km you cant use conflag 
So either its conflag vs hail = sleip wins dps wise
Or scorch vs barrage =  wins dps wise

It's not about winning dps numbers, it's mostly about hitting stuff and pulse lasers while they have optimal, they tend to miss small stuff. ACs don't.

I can fly both, and find that i Prefer the Absolution, both require a cap booster and both do similar DPS, if anything I think my fitted Absolution is slightly better and my No 1.
I've also never had a problem tracking anything in my Absolution, I find the Sleipnir is better in a gang then Solo due to its tackling or lack of ability with out damaging your tank.
Also the Sleipnir with a X-Large SB is very very greedy on Cap fitted right though she can be very leathal.

So, this is another general pen and paper my ship sucks thread. Realistically, I think if everyone were to do real world testing vs. math complaints would be alot less. Yes the slep tanks like a beast and puts out good damage, but it relies on staying out of web and therefore generally uses barrage. I 1v1 my corp mate in a full t2 fit abso and I couldn't do crap damage. Neither could he. CS are not solo ships. They can fit gang links for a reason >_<
